This Hannaford store was our go-to place for our local grocery shopping. For years it had been a…read moreclean well stocked store on every visit. That all changed during and after the pandemic. It is like they never recovered. The shelves are often empty, especially of sale items. Not just sometimes, almost every day. Recently we stopped four days in one week for a meat sale item and when they had none the management had one excuse after another. It has become so frustrating to shop and not find close to half of the items we're looking for forcing us to shop at another store. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The pharmacy staff is exceptional and is the reason we still buy all of our prescriptions at this store. Basically we now buy almost all of our food at the local PRICE CHOPPER MARKET 32 that has everything we need on every visit at lower prices.

This is more like a local market instead of a supermarket, but it has what you need. First, it has a good choice of basic items (e.g,. milk, eggs, bread, etc.). Second, I was thrilled to find local amber syrup from Maple Hill Farms for sale here (produced in Barton, VT). Third, you can find meats for grilling such as bratwurst, hamburger, etc. Service is OK and the "no-frills" grocery store ambiance is like going back in time to the 1970s. Do not be alarmed to see many people buying alcohol (especially beer). Overall, I think it was the best market within a 30-minute drive (and convenient for those staying on the north shore of Lake Willoughby).

Many people in the area are already struggling to make ends meet, yet the owner seems completely indifferent. It's frustrating to see them willing to sell old meat just to boost their profits. If you are visiting, it's a convenient place to stock up on essentials as it's located right off the interstate in Waterbury. There's a pharmacy within the store as well. I have to mention the deli first: there's a lady who works here and we saw on every visit, and she was incredibly helpful and generous. The hot and sweet corn salad she recommended was a night, and the cauliflower tabuleh was surprisingly enjoyable. Then there's the incredible rotisserie chicken which is unbelievably tender and keeps incredibly well - easily the best supermarket-bought rotisserie chicken I've ever had. Their aisles are clean and prices competitive, and it was easy to find what we needed because aisles were clearly marked. Even at different times of day there was no excessive wait at checkouts either, and we'd be happy to shop here again in the future!

I have also tried their deli sandwiches. Highly recommend any of them! I reached out to their customer service via the email address they had online. I saw that they had a sandwich that paid an homage to the Vietnamese Banh Mi, but incorrectly spelled "Bhan" Mehuron. The owner reached back out to me via email the very next day. We had a great conversation and he stated that they will look into correcting the misspelling. It warms my heart to have my culture's food be shared within this community and it's wonderful to see an owner really take pride in what they offer. Great customer service and inventory. I highly recommend and will be back anytime I am in the area.

Unfortunately, I've purchased a few things including vegetables and snacks that have been old/stale. Two examples (of many): an english cucumber went moldy in my fridge after 3 days. A bag of relatively expensive cheese popcorn tasted old and stale. And I paid a premium price for these items! On the other hand, they do sell some bread from local bakeries and the deli and prepared foods look good. The beer dept is awesome! So, my plan is to buy carefully and selectively going forward. Clearly the products don't either turn from volume nor do they get removed from shelves before they're old - so be selective if you shop here and look closely and products and dates.

They also have a little exhibit of their blue ribbons for their maple syrup. There's a solid collection of camping essentials, a wall of candy, some local soda, insanely beautiful bottles of mead.
