When I came by this past Saturday to Westland Mall I was craving the soft pretzel.... doughy, tasty, salty goodness.... sadly it didn't live up to my expectations. We ordered three soft salted butter pretzels....so first things first....no salt....kinda defeats the purpose of the pretzel. How can you have no salt on a pretzel? Secondly it was so greasy that it turned the bag clear and it just didn't taste good. It's sad because like I said it used to be good.

I believe I was a teenager back then. Anyhow, my mother and I used to love being fat little pigs here. That, fortunately, eventually changed. I cannot imagine eating these pretzels for life. That being said, I hadn't had a pretzel from here in over six years. I broke this streak last week and the trauma still sits with me. While delicious, the salty and glazed pretzel I ordered gave me a ridiculous sugar rush that made me crash. Thank goodness I had the common sense to order a bottle of water because I may not be here to tell the tale otherwise. Needless to say, coming here, the questions begs: is it worth it? Well, my dear, that depends on whether you have some Alka-Seltzer on you. Delicious, yes, but potentially deadly.

What really sets Cuckoo Clock Brauhaus apart is the atmosphere. It is not your typical German restaurant. It has fun Apres Ski vibes and a lively, cozy, social feel. They also host great events like Oktoberfest, Christmas Market, and Honky Tonk nights, which makes every visit feel special. The service is excellent, super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. You truly feel like a guest. It is also a great place to watch sports with a beer in hand. Free parking is available, and the location is just three minutes from I 95, which makes it very easy to get to. If you are looking for real German food, great energy, and a place that knows how to host a good time, this is the spot.

Fantastic Find -- Authentic German Comfort Food at Its Best!…read moreI had an outstanding experience at Cuckoo Clock Brauhaus and it has immediately become one of my favorite restaurants in Miami. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed -- the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and has just the right amount of rustic charm. The food is absolutely exceptional. Every dish tasted genuinely authentic, clearly prepared with care and respect for traditional German flavors. The schnitzel was perfectly crisp and tender, the sausages were incredibly flavorful, and the sides -- especially the potato salad and red cabbage -- were delicious and perfectly seasoned. You can tell the kitchen takes real pride in their craft. The staff deserve special recognition. Everybody was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel personal without ever being intrusive. It's rare to find service that's both efficient and genuinely kind, especially in Miami.. Whether you're craving authentic German comfort food or just want a great meal in a cozy setting, Cuckoo Clock Brauhaus is a must-visit. I will absolutely be back -- and bringing more friends with me! Highly recommended.

Throwback to Germany Circa 2006-2011…read more.. We lived in Germany for 5 years and absolutely loved it, namely Bavaria which imho is the best and prettiest region in the entire country. We spent many vacations in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and gained an affinity for fine Bavarian-style German food... Old Heidelberg brought back the nostalgia and unique flavors that Bavaria has to offer. Our hotel attendant recommended the restaurant as it's a less than a 1/2 mile walk from the hotel... We gladly obliged, as the Yelp reviews were great. Glad we did because Old Heidelberg was excellent. The restaurant looks like the classic Bavarian joint, with all the decor, music, and quintessential German-feel... When you walk in you instantly want a German draft beer (and they have a great selection to choose from); recommend starting with the dark lager and ending with the pils. As for the food, it was some of the best Bavarian we've had in the States. Everything was scratch cooking, huge portions (way too much to eat in one setting), friendly/prompt service, and simply outstanding. My only complaint was Old Heidelberg was astonishingly expensive ($130 for dinner w/ tip, 2 people... 4 beers and two entrees)... Aside from the hefty price, this place is worth the stop when in town. Dave Portnoy 7.9

Jackie was our server and she was efficient and friendly. We were served bread and drinks quickly and ordered the potato pancakes to start. They were crispy and hot and served with sour cream and apple sauce. For mains most everyone got a form of schnitzel. They have many variations including chicken, pork, and veal. They can be ordered plain or with a few sauce options. A favorite was the Bavarian with mushroom gravy and cheese. Oh, this is so good! I tried the saurbraten which is sliced eye of the round with a tangy gravy and dumplings. All of the mains come with soup or salad and spaetzle and red cabbage. The soup is incredible and I could easily eat this daily. All of the food was well prepared and delicious and the portions are huge. We all took food home. Old Heidelberg is a very authentic German restaurant that feels like a trip to the Motherland. Very cozy setting and warm staff make this a special treat. The selection of German beers are a bonus!
