After reading the previous review, I was sure to mention that this was the only thing I needed done, but things seem to have gone smoothly and I was back on the road within an hour. Update : 10/29/25 - Finally received the permanent plate from Preston nearly 8 months after purchase. This resolves my issue. Thank you Update: 9/3/25 - More than six months after I purchased the car, I STILL do not have my permanent tag. I've never ever had this sort of horrible customer experience with any other dealership. If I could give Preston Mazda zero stars, I gladly will. I've contacted the dealership several times over phone and email, only to be first told that they are having paperwork issues at their end and then 'waiting for a document from Mazda to get it finalized'. And this has been going on forever. I spoke to Selbe Hubbard (the person's name mentioned in the response below) several times and still no resolution. To say I am incredibly frustrated with this awful customer service is an understatement. I was informed by my DMV that they will only renew the temporary tags twice which I already did. I will not be able to drive the car once my current set of temp tags expire soon if I still do not get the permanent plate. If you are considering buying from Preston Mazda (or any other Preston dealership), I would urge you to learn from my experience. Stay away and save yourself the frustration. MY EARLIER REVIEW BELOW: I purchased a new 2025 Mazda 3 Premium Manual from Preston Mazda in March 2025. While the sales process was smooth, the post-sale experience is incredibly frustrating. Four months later, I still haven't received my permanent license plates. My temporary tags expired, forcing me to take a full day off work. I had to go to the Delaware DMV, provide additional documents, have my car re-inspected, and pay out of pocket for new temporary tags. This is a process the dealership should have handled. I've attempted to contact Preston Mazda multiple times for an update and reimbursement, but they have completely ignored my emails. I have no information on when I will receive my permanent plates or any kind of resolution. As usual the service staff was wonderful particularly Jackie Kennedy who would have made a wonderful juggler. She managed to juggle customers, billing, service people fielding questions about the cost of needed services and still hold an intelligent conversation with a customer. She tracked us down in the waiting area to explain why several items were not needed at this time. POOR communication. RAN my credit to shreds. NO answer to phone calls, text messages, emails or voicemails. Had to drive MULTIPLE times on my days off an hour one way to get the dealership just to talk to someone. They took advantage of and swiddled me. OVERALL 0. Went to Preston Mazda in Hurlock Maryland. July 2024 I was in desperate need of a car and was told this was the "best" place to go. (Lol) They approved me for 2018 Alfa Romeo. I was told this was the ONLY car I was approved for as it does have the check engine light coming from the cooling sensor. BUT the part is coming in and we WILL fix it for you. Thinking this is my ONLY option i take it bc i need a vehicle. Signed my first lease thinking all I was waiting for was my hard tags to come in. Few weeks go by no word from them on the part so I call them. Told them i wanted to speak to Troy the manger and they sent me over to his line. NO answer so I leave a voicemail. Few more weeks go by nothing. Now my temp tag is about to expire no word on my hard tags. On my next day off i go up there. ( an hour away one way) Troy says the part is on back order from the strike that happened about a month or so ago and he says "it's coming" and that I would have to resign an agreement bc he wasn't turning the paper work in on time to the finance company. So it expired and had to keep signing different agreements. (4 of them) running my credit each time. He tells me i cant get a temp tag so i had to DRIVE on an expired tag for a week. Im calling and emailing Troy with no answer. I go up there on my off day and troy says he has my temp tag still waiting on the part. Weeks go by trying to call troy about the part and was getting annoyed so i go up there and they say Troy was let go and that the part was in that they would fix. I make an appointment to go back up there to have it done and the dealership says they fixed the sensor but it's still throwing the cooling sensor code for the check engine light and to take it to the alfa dealership. I take it to the Alfa service shop they said that their is a wiring issue that is causing the cooling sensor code for the check engine light. The estimate was $9200. I call Preston Mazda and tell them that my car is at the shop and the invoice is for $9200 and they said no we arent paying this. We go back and forth they say bring the car in and we will swap it out. My next day off I take the car back to preston. I sit down to come to realize I'm bascailly starting over ONCE again, the run my credit again and each time I'm denied. I literally had to put down $3000 MORE $ to be able to get into another car that im NOT even happy with. Even though I clearly showed what they were advertising on the internet, written email, and the deal I make with a Preston manager, he lack the integrity to honor the deal Customer relationship mean nothing at this dealership so save the gas money. I went to this place i have problem on my mazda with a light and they inspected for $100, told me that is ballast bad and need be replaced, they ask $415 for ballast $270 new light bulb And $250 for work Its come total $1180 to fix that problem with diagnostic. Wow!!! He was teling me that is not cheaper parts and that they cant otherwise guarantee work if they dont replace all . I was upset. They wasnt frendly there as well. So i went on ebay and find used ballast for 57 dollars free shipping. Look at youtube how to replace , got it done myself for less than 30 min , didnt need to replace light bulb . I saved more than $1000 really thet they need to charge to guarantie work? I would nobady recomend this place find some local repairing center they just want pull you money out of pocket they dont care how much you need to work to earn it , would never go there again! read more

I have worked with her numerous times on the normal oil changes, tire rotations and other issues that now come into play with a car 4+ years old. She is professional, efficient and actually cares about the customer .. very unusual in todays day and age. I will continue to buy cars from Preston Mazda if Alison is around .. I went to preston because of a good previous experience. Even though I chose to purchase elsewhere at that time - I decided when it was time for a new car I would return. What I expected to get was above average customer service and average customer pricing. Instead I got average customer service with above average pricing. I paid $200 below MSRP for the car, I knew I should have haggled but I'm just not a haggler and in the long hall 1k or so doesn't make a huge difference to me. When compared to ten of this vehicle purchased, I paid the most - including people with higher models and options. Don't go here if you aren't ready to haggle; they do have a great selection but you will probably feel like you are going to a used car lot the way the customer service is. I also called b/c an item that was supposed to be included was missing; its been a week and the sales person said they would get back to me and never did.It was a very minor issue but for someone that just dropped 16k on a car and seeing as they got a very decent check out of that you think they would spend the 15 mins to figure out what happened and ship the missing item. Bottom line, sorry preston - you got the sale this time and I'm happy with my car but I will not be back. read more

I have purchased too many new cars in my life. My wife tells me I have a commitment issue. Our latest purchase was a new 2018 leftover Mazda Miata MX-5. We had to drive several hours to the dealership in Hurlock, Maryland but it was well worth it. Our salesman Big Mike was tremendous from start to finish. We called to make sure the car as still available and he made sure it was when we got there several hours later. The entire sales process was smooth and they honored the price they sent me days earlier. The salesman manager Billy Andrews in the Mazda store came over to introduce himself and made sure everything was good and that we were being treated well. I would say buying 20 new cars in the past 25 years qualifies me to say that a trip to Preston Mazda is well worth your time and money. Everything about our experience was outstanding. If the location draws you there (I can't imagine what else would), do your homework beforehand, resist sales pressure, and take nothing for granted. Maybe I ran into a 'perfect storm,' but I can attest to how stupendously unprofessional this dealership can be and how annoying to deal with -- even on something as simple and straightforward as getting new license plates. The next closest Mazda dealer to me is about an hour away, but if I had it to do over again, knowing what I know now, I'd check out the alternatives. read more
