He makes a point about saying that he won't make you look stupid or make fun of you, if you volunteer, and he doesn't. They have some more classical magic tricks and some more numbers oriented. But it's all quite fun. For some of them, we were really scratching our heads and thinking how did they do that!?? I would say don't try to work it out... and you won't lose out on the magic :-) The area they do the show is wide rather than deep, so if you are in the center, you'd have very good seats. I wasn't quite sure about how it would look from the ends. We weren't quite sure how the seats were assigned, but it seems to us they were set in advance. They give you pretty decent popcorn and even brought us a refill cuz we liked it and ate it all! Drinks etc are pricey as you would expect. They tell you that they will only take your order for the full show at the start but we saw them taking orders during a break. Our server was very nice and polite! I highly recommend doing this!

He was funny (as accurately advertised), engaging, and good at his job! lol We hired Allen very last minute for a community talent show hosted by our church. We were grateful for his availability and quick correspondence. He arrived early for our sound check and was easy to work with. We had him on stage for 30 min then on walk around for the 30 min intermission. The stage performance was fantastic. Allen works the crowd up and gets people involved. The room shifted quickly from entertained applause to a loud "OH SNAPS"and "NOOO". I stepped outside during intermission but could hear very clearly the intermittent "OHHHHH's" as Allen performed his walk-around. Long story short - I am very thankful Allen pursued his magic side gig and I'm on the lookout for another chance to hire him.

It was an adult-only party, and he was able to cater to this crowd very well. One of my guests is a fan of magic and compared his performance to some of the top-notch shows in NYC he's been to (the ones that are impossible to get tickets to). Allen's flexibility on timing, and pleasing the guests again showed his upmost professionalism in every way. Since my event has passed, pretty much all of my guests asked for his contact information. Here's what happened: We attended a show at Gourmet Garage on Nov 19th. We showed up right when his show was starting. He asked for a volunteer. My three year old daughter very excitedly volunteered. He asked her if she liked candy. Of course she said yes. He then proceeded to tell her to grab the piece of candy out of the paper bag he was holding. This started to take a while as she was noticeably confused. He kept coaxing her and even pointed to the "piece of candy" in the bag. Turns out it wasn't candy it was a small roll of toilet paper that he was using for a bit. My daughter teared up and said out loud "I want to go home". It was so obvious that the eight and nine year olds at the show "got" this humor but it was just confusing for my little girl. We stayed because I wanted her to see that this guy was just jokingly doing tricks. I laughed a lot so she could hear me and explained what he was doing. At the end I told her to thank him for the show and ask him if she could have a balloon (he was packing up and visibly had a bag of balloons). He smiled and said thank you. He said "we're not doing balloons today"...clueless.
