We started the process with some great conversations about what was on our Wish List vs. Must Have List. Barbosa Carpentry was booked for months, but it would take that long to source and receive everything for the project. We were going to hire a designer through one of the many kitchen stores in the area. We spent months visiting different showrooms and talking to designers, investigating what we liked and didn't like in other kitchens. When the time came, Udo suggested we save some money and let him be our designer. Again, another great decision. We took our time sourcing certain floors, quartz countertops, cabinet hardware and appliances. All the while, Udo Barbosa brought us multiple designs and talked through our likes/dislikes. It was a pleasant experience and Udo made sure that we stayed on budget. Once we signed the contract, Udo handled the Permits, ordering, deliveries, electrical, plumbing and demolition. He planned accordingly so that once the cabinets arrived, he would get started. Thoughtful planning and time management kept the project on time and within budget. Udo and his professional partner, Teddy, came daily for a month and handled everything with ease and professionalism. When there were surprises (like a vent pipe in the way), as is expected in any full gut, they worked through the issues together and came up with solid solutions. Udo listened to my questions along the way, and always explained any decisions he was making and why. The most surprising thing about our kitchen reno is that Udo made sure we had a working fridge, sink, and oven throughout the entire reno. I have never heard of being able to continue to use these vital instruments during a renovation. Udo kept our house tidy, accessible and safe (for us and our dog) during the process. I do not normally leave reviews but I must for J. Carnes & Son's Roofing of Hampton Falls NH. We…read moreneeded to replace the roof on my son's new home in Salem New Hampshire. I received five Roofing quotes from various companies in the area. I met all five in person on site. Only one, Tom Deschuytner from J. Carnes & Son's Roofing took the time to put a ladder against the house and climb up there to inspect the old roof in numerous areas. He also is the only one to go into the attic and inspect the roof decking. The other four companies just walked around the house and spent maybe 15 minutes with me. I asked if they needed to see the attic or take any measurements and they all said no we can measure from satellite imagery. I also explained to all the companies that we were going to do a close cell foam in the attic and wanted to do away with the soffit vents in ridge vent and have gutters put on. So, they would need to build out the Fascia area to accommodate the gutters. Only Tom spent the time with me to go over the whole process and how it would work. I will say. J. Carnes & Son's Roofing Quote was not the cheapest yet not the most expensive. And Tom also said this might be the case... But because he took the time to inspect the house and the scope of work to be done, and the time spent with me, I chose to use J. Carnes & Son's to do the job. I like companies that have a human answer their phones... Over the following weeks, the communication with their office, "Jill, & Shannon," and communicating with Tom to finalize the quote was absolutely the most professional and pleasurable experience I have had working with a company in many years! Hats off to that team! Thank you! A week or so ahead of time, I received informative/instructional videos via email that described what to expect before the work would begin like the dumpster being delivered and materials being delivered, etc. The night before the work began. I got a phone call from Josh who introduced himself as the project manager asking me if I had any questions and letting me know what time they would be arriving. and that he would be on site for the entire job. They arrived on time 7:30 AM on a Friday morning with a crew of at least 7. They got right to work and began stripping the roof. We already knew we needed to plywood the garage decking but once they got the old shingles off the house, Josh came to me and explained, and it was obvious to me it was also going to need plywood decking put on to meet the warranty specifications of the shingles. This added more cost to the to the job, but that's life and if you want things done right you do things right. Due to this, they could not finish the job in one day and Josh explained to me that they would be working till 6:30 PM and would be back tomorrow "Saturday morning "to finish up. I was impressed as to how the entire yard was cleaned up before they left. Saturday came and they finish shingling the last quarter of the roof and trim and completed the gutters. I was totally impressed how well Josh worked with me on how I wanted the downspouts done and where they dump the water... and his crew to do so... Thank You Josh and Crew!! I must say that one of the first things I picked up on was that Josh has an incredible crew. Everybody knew their job; they worked like clockwork. They had a woman on their crew, that kept the yard clean as they strip the roof as well as loading shingles to the crew on the roof and then on the roof passing shingles to the crew as they installed them. I spent both days on the job site and the respect that crew has for Josh and the respect he has for them is remarkable! Great Team Work!! When they were done, the yard was cleaner than when they showed up! The time in care to be sure, they were no nails or debris in the grass or elsewhere, was remarkable! I thank the entire crew and Josh for their professionalism and the quality of work done! I thank Tom, Jill, & Shannon for their professionalism and communication skills! So, I give J. Carnes & Son's Roofing a highly-rated 10 STARS and I recommend them for any of your roofing needs! Thanks.

LIke many people, we rely on customer reviews and word of mouth when hiring for home projects. Despite being the most expensive option, we chose Refined Roofing after relying on other customer reviews. A huge mistake! In short, do not hire Refined Roofing because of their lack of site management, their lack of professionalism, and their deceitful behavior. We live in a neighborhood where houses are close to one another. We were concerned about the impact of our project on our neighbors and made this clear to Refined Roofing at the start. We were promised careful site management from a site supervisor, with a specific promise to tarp the area, including the neighbor's yard, to capture all debris. NO supervisor was on site during the actual execution of the project. As the photo shows, the area was INADEQUATELY tarped, debris was carelessly spewed all over our property and our neighbor's. When supervisors finally visited the site, they promised to repair the neighbor's yard. Once I paid my bill, they refused to make good on their promise. Additionally, the actual workmanship was sloppy. Among other things, they knowingly applied broken shingles to the new roof and did not apply a promised second coat of rubber in one area. Furthermore, the owners of Refined Home Services, Gino and Karen, were rude, dismissive, and dishonest when confronted with the facts. They denied that there was any debris mismanagement or damage, despite the photo proof included here. While the company replaced the broken shingles and finally cleaned up the initial mess, they refused to take responsibility for the damage they caused and left us in the uncomfortable situation they created with our neighbors. In short, Refined Roofing lacks quality of service, integrity, and decency. This company is not worth hiring ... ever.
