We were referred to Cleo's Home 2 on west Alpine afterlooking at many homes we rejected. The staff, Cleo, Nana, Jamiel and all were fantastic! Such a clean home, home cooked food and most of all lots of love. Mom and we were treated as family. We got to know them very well and love them all with our heart. They made sure mom had a lot of attention, kept very clean and fed well during her stay. We lost her Saturday. We will never forget all the help and love we received. My mom even got hugs and kisses. I know Nana really attached to her. We feel bad because she is hurting for the loss of mom. They deserve to be tops on anyone's list. They just bought another home in Ripon for those who live farther away. It even has a pool! Everyone has their own room, bed, dressers and TV. We have been in and out of snf for years. It is horrible. This is a place of comfort and joy. You know your loved one is cared for 24 hrs a day. My mom would wake up early at 2 to go bathroom and stay awake for Nana to make her a special breakfast. She really doted on mom. What more can you ask for? Cleo is very personable and understands all needs. She came to our home the same day. Mom was taken the next day. They have even bought transport for wheel chairs and taken them out to fabulous buffet. Mom was too bad to go then, but the other residents were so excited. We got to talk to all of them. Like one big family. God bless you Cleo and all your family. Don't be foolish to pass up this great opportunity to have your loved one cared for. Our worries were slashed away when we came there. My father in law was one of the most stubborn men on the planet and very hard to please. We were very nervous about the whole process if he wasn't happy there. To our amazement my father in law was very happy and comfortable there. Cleo and her staff treated him with kindness and they were incredibly attentive to him and his health issues. She also was very good and keeping us informed about any ongoing issues he was having. Unfortunately my father in law was placed on hospice care, but he lived out the last few months of his life happy and comfortable at Cleo's Home.

My experience working with them started on the basis of home health services. My mother needed assistance with basic living needs, even though she was very reluctant to admit it. I reached out to Bethany and both Bonnie and Pam were very professional and understanding as to the situation. I am an only child and live several hundred miles from Ripon, and as time went on, I was unable to provide the level of care she needed. They came to her home and counseled her as to the services they could provide. When I was not able to be be there in person, they allowed me to participate by phone. We worked through a customized plan to meet her needs, allowing us to make changes as we went along. The level of care they provided was stellar! The people actually providing the services were excellent. Bethany employs a very positive, but strict code of conduct. When it came time to utilize skilled nursing, Bethany was very helpful in working through that transition. It was particularly challenging as this was during the prime of the covid 19 crisis. If you think that is an easy process, especially dealing with medicare and insurance companies, you are very mistaken. Cindy oversees the entire organization, and I had many conversations with her and her team of absolute professionals. They are caring, and willing to work with reasonable specific needs. They are just really good people caring for your loved ones as a ministry of service. I can't thank them enough for the care and help they gave my mother and our family all the way up to her passing. If you have a loved one that is needing assisted health services, all the way from basic home health assistance to skilled nursing services, I can attest they are the best I've seen or heard of, based on other reviews of other facilities. As I said above, they treat this a a ministry of service, rather than just a job. My family was very blessed to have them assist us during the last few months of my mother's life on earth.

There is no compassion here, no empathy, and no legitimate business. This is a scam run by a very dishonest and hostile human being. BEWARE !!! I spent six weeks there learning how to walk and used my hands again. The physical therapy and occupational therapy staff were uniformly excellent. They all kicked my butt, but they did it in a kind competent way. They wanted me to better just as much as I did. And when things got tough, I got the encouragement I needed. I had some really terrific certified nursing assistants, like Carol, who made the stay bearable. When someone has to do almost everything for you (to include wiping your bum and putting your dirty socks away) you appreciate them. When they do it because they love helping people, you appreciate it more. Some of the nurses, like Jasmine, really cared. I know because she really listened. when I was having an issue with my legs, she helped solve the problem. Ditto when I had an issue with my meds Not all of the staff was so attentive. If you pushed a bit, you could get what you needed. But I don't think you should have to push to get people to do their jobs. Fortunately, for me at least, the good staff overwhelmingly outshined the bad. I liked the grounds, especially the inner courtyard. The roses in particular were lovely.My room was clean, and at least in my wing, it didn't smell like a hospital. I hated the food, in part because it was so full of carbs, but also because I was just sick of hospital food. As far as hospital food goes, it wasn't bad at all. It's just wasn't anything I would want to eat every day. The activities staff was also great. They got me to play bingo and enjoy some of the musical offerings. Most of all they were a cheerful (thus much needed) presence. My biggest gripe was there was no one my age at the facility. It had been a concern for me when I was trying to pick a place to rehabilitate. The rep assured me "they took patients of all ages" and that I wouldn't be the only 40 something. Well, that wasn't true. I DID end up enjoying the folks I did meet, even though most of them were 20+ years older than me. I hope to never go back (as a patient) but I would go visit so the folks who helped me so much could see the progress they've helped me make.

I thought it would be useful to those of you who will be caring for elderly people to hear of our experiences, as they might help you in your care giving decisions. But first a little primer and context-setting. The area of elder care is new to most of us and you will need to study up to better understand how the system(s) work so you can make the best choices for your loved ones. In both the nursing home and residential categories it is useful to use the analogy of the Chinese menu. There are basic prices for the core services, menu A and menu B consists of all the add-ons or specialty items that you select to go with the main A menu. Menu A is generally the per day cost for the basic, stock service: single, double or triple rooms and would include two or three meals per day, a certain amount of housekeeping and activities. Menu B includes, for instance, extra per day costs for laundry, incontinence, memory care, physical therapy, medication administration, bathing assistance, feeding assisting, dressing and transportation. There are so many "it depends" and so many variances whether you are in skilled nursing where medication administration is included to residential where bathing assistance can be obtained once, twice or more each week. And each facility is different, so gather material and if you can talk with your loved one please include them in the decision-making and what it will cost. The trade-offs are the challenge. Rehab/Skilled Nursing: These come in many differing forms. There are long-term and short-term beds, with long-term less expensive than short-terms and generally do not include rehabilitation (rehab) or physical therapy (PT). Rehab is usually prescribed by a physician and the cost is in excess of $275/day. Medicare covers a good portion of rehab, but "doctor's orders" are required. In general, long-term care is only covered by low-income programs, such as MediCal or Medicaid. Short term care starts at around $200+ per day and runs as high as $400+ per day, depending on the level of care required. Your first priority is to determine what level of care is required and then which facility would best meet those needs relative to cost. Generally, if you smell urine throughout the facility...run away. Of course there will be those smells on occasion, but there should not be such an ambiance all the time. Others set aside a percentage of beds for those on government assistance and manage their facilities within the government reimbursements. You get what you pay for, so shop around. Look first at what you can afford and then at the amenities offered and the comfort level or cultural "fit" of facility to your loved one. Are these his or her kind of people? Dale Commons, Modesto, CA Lidia's Blessed Home, Modesto Merrill Gardens, Manteca, CA The Stratford at Beyer Park, Modesto, CA This review is for Valley Gardens: At first we were a bit miffed at having to put mother-in-law into a Stockton facility since there were no female beds available in Modesto or Manteca. It was not convenient to be running from Modesto to Stockton every day. That said, it turned out that Valley Gardens was in our top two of rehab facilities, so the mileage was worth it. A nicely renovated facility with an interior patio and surrounding grounds, Valley Gardens also had a super rehab area and quite an enthusiastic rehab crew. They take rehab seriously here and that is exactly what we wanted. There were two dining areas, both with linen on the tables and served the same meals. The difference was that one was for those that did not need assistance eating and the other for those that did. Activities were varied and seemed to be available throughout the day. No boredom here. Nursing and staff were excellent, treating the residents personally and with warm care. We would prefer Valley Gardens and Garden City as our best picks when given the option of facilities.

There's really no set or restricted visiting hours which I love how flexible they are. The staff are kind, attentive and always available and actively walking around to check on things. We appreciated the large rooms with ample space for seating and even a day bed where you can stay with the patient. The private bathrooms are spacious and clean as well. When my grandmother passed they called us right away and allowed us to see her before the mortuary transporter came to take her away. They were so very patient with us and gave us all the time we needed. They walked us through the next steps and paperwork afterwards. I couldn't have asked for a better experience of something so heartbreaking. Multiple family members have stayed here before they departed us and each time has been a pleasant as this experience can be. Friends have also recommended this place as well so we are happy to hear they're consistent in their care.
