**July 2026: Sunday Afternoon Visit**…read more During my SDCC weekend, I walked by Michaela's Meals in the Gaslamp Quarter, which was right between my hotel and the convention center. This shop was just one street down from Ralphs and Vitality Tap so it was conveniently located. On Sunday afternoon, I noticed the space was open for business, so I popped in to check it out. It's a small spot with a staff member, a fridge full of pre-made meals, a little bar area with two stools, a cold water pitcher, and a microwave. The main business model is a weekly subscription, but I learned that the owner also keeps leftovers in the fridge for grab-and-go customers on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1:30-5 p.m. They also run a "buy 4 get 1 free" and "buy 8 get 2 free" promotion, which makes the meals an even better value. I assumed she makes an abundance and sells those for $10 a meal, but since I stopped by close to closing, I got mine for $5 each. I grabbed two to try because the meals looked very nutrition-focused and considering I ate basically garbage throughout Comic Con it was a smart choice to fuel up with real food. I tried a Mediterranean chicken over yellow rice and zucchini, as well as a ground hamburger-style sloppy joe-type meal. The food definitely leans healthy, and considering how inconvenient it is to eat well at SDCC, this was a great find. Since she has Wednesday and Sunday pickups, I'm now contemplating doing a preview-night (Wednesday) pickup for a couple of meals on my next visit. I'll be in touch with Michaela's for future San Diego trips.

When I looked over their offerings I was shocked to see "Feijoa", also known as Pineapple Guava. An acquired taste, this fruit was a true find if you ever grew up with a Feijoa tree close by. You just don't find this fruit in your local stores. The Kombucha was very good, not too much bite to it. it comes in a glass jar. Wish bacon was more crispy but man this side dish was my meal and such a treat. Hubby said burger was dry but he went back and asked for Mayo and that helped he said. No hot sauce, he wanted something spicy. The Mexican food truck had some they let him have. That was nice. Daughter did not like the grilled cheese. We all tried it and it was way too oily tasting. But we aren't a fan of sourdough. Still it was really oily. The Mac n cheese on the grilled cheese didnt have flavor. Just more oily taste. We didn't eat it. But heads up if you like these type of grilled cheese you'll like it. A lot of places serve them oily and on sourdough like Panera bread etc. So just because we don't like that style doesnt meant you won't. She ate a lot of my fries and hubby went back and got another burger and she ate half. So all good. The fried Oreos weren't that good sadly. No crispy to it. More just soft and sugary. We like the crispy outer layer type. Will 100% bee line to this truck for the fries though. Sadly no tots. Would love to try the tots one day. I've asked the kids school to please bring this truck back for their school event. They use to have it but didnt last year. Well just got the line up for this year, they'll be back!!!! Gonna recommend ppl go get the fries, so good!!!!! Hope they have tots this year. If so we will get both!!!!! And I know my son will get the burger. Can't wait!!!! Sorry didn't get photos because it was dark and where we sat had no light.

I went to gourmet food truck event before a play last night to try them out first hand. It was an hour before showtime when I ordered. No food was coming out of the truck and the cook kept telling people that the food would be out in 10 minutes. Right before showtime a huge crowd of unhappy people were demanding their money back. The taco guy who had been telling my that my vegetarian tacos were coming right out finally says, do you eat fish to me. I took the fish tacos since I had been saving my appetite all day and needed something to eat, but now I wish that I did not. It was some stinky smoked marlin rolled taco and as I sit here in the morning the smell still lingers. I am being nice bygiving them 3 stars because they had a new cook and fryer problems.
