I particularly liked the "fresh air" patio on the 3rd floor to have my complimentary morning cup of coffee. It was the weekend, so the lobby bar was hopping but not anything to warrant a noise complaint. For 3 nights, it was an affordable, cozy, convenient stay and I hope to return here again soon.

Coordinating with The Loft before the wedding was always easy - quick to respond to emails and provide thoughtful, clear answers. The only hiccup we had was with the event insurance - The Loft requires a specific type of insurance coverage that our wedding planner had never heard of before. None of the large insurance companies (i.e. State Farm) would provide the coverage so we needed to use the insurance provided by VT, which ended up pushing our budget a couple hundred dollars higher than expected. Otherwise, our wedding day was perfect - everyone was incredibly helpful and flexible. We even had a bridesmaid leave something at the venue Saturday night - when we went Sunday morning, one of the owners of VT happened to be there and he was gracious in letting us into the venue to find the item. Definitely sets the tone of customer service for his company! Thank you VT and The Loft, for helping make our wedding such a great day!

I held off on posting this for over a month after my wedding, hoping the venue would meet me in the…read moremiddle. After two weeks of no response and no real effort toward a solution, I feel obligated to share my experience. From the start, I was handed off to three different coordinators. I let it go at first, but looking back, it made planning inconsistent and stressful. Two weeks before the wedding, the main planner went on vacation right when deadlines were due, and I had to work with yet another new person. The day of the wedding, my guests were warned about unauthorized alcohol, and I took full responsibility and followed the contract by closing the bar immediately. That issue was handled and moved on from. What wasn't handled professionally was the food. I paid almost $5000 for the catering buyout to bring in my own restaurant and signed a liability waiver. Despite that, staff told guests they couldn't take leftovers before even speaking to me. I had to go back and forth with the day-of manager just to get them to allow it. Even then, they cleared food off tables while some guests were still eating or had just stepped away, and combined multiple tables' entrées onto single platters. I also had a 12-hour rental, yet cleanup started early, and tables were being taken down before our agreed end time. It made us and our guests feel rushed to leave. My event was supposed to go until 11:00pm, but this is what the venue looked like 10:15pm. My 12-hour rental was from 12:00pm-12:00am, I factored in the last hour for vendors to clean up. However the venue obviously started the cleaning up a lot earlier than expected. I tried to resolve this privately, and was told that they would follow up about this, but I haven't heard from them in two weeks. Mind you I've been consistently trying to contact them via email and phone, but they have been again, not really addressing my concerns and taking an upward of 7-14 days to respond. At that point, I felt I had no choice but to leave an honest review so future couples know what to expect.

The event included free liquor samples from a few vendors. The event space was well organized and they spaced the vendors nicely so you could enjoy conversations with each. Every little detail was considered by the Aerie staff, and handled professionally. Looking back, it saved us quite a bit of money and effort! Most importantly, Saundra helped throughout the planning process, referred vendors, helped us contact them, and coached us through many of the decision making that was needed to create a perfect day! On the day of, she was there to manage deliveries, the timeline, and make sure it all went on without a hitch. Without her, I have no idea how we would have made this day possible! On the day of, we felt completely relaxed and pampered! Our Catering Captain, Kirk, was there at every turn, making sure we were satisfied and had everything we needed. The food was fantastic, and our guests kept telling us how much fun they had. A month later I still can't believe how happy we feel with the quality of service we received from the Aerie.

RJ was a truly amazing bartender and person and we were so happy that we were seated at the bar. Now let's get the real talk... Chef Casey made me an insanely delicious plate of pasta kissed with pesto, Parmigiano Reggiano, cherries and pork belly. I am still dreaming of this delicious dish and might need to pop in again for it praying it is still on the menu - I cleaned my plate and was in awe as to how perfect it was. I honestly had no idea they had a bar area and that was so great since it seems like a pretty formal restaurant but tucking in for a plate of pasta and glass (or three) of wine at the bar is a lovely way to hang out somewhere on a rainy Portland evening.

It's a large space, divided into 2 sections and at most there are 2 servers plus the host. At the table next to us, one of the diners accidentally spilled her drink. We all used napkins but there was still tea all over the place. No one came to help for an uncomfortably long time. Finally the host came, shaking his head and cleaned up the floor with a towel. You will read a lot about Levi. He was our waiter during this breakfast with the drink spill. Did he come to help clean it up? No. Did he remember the room number for us and the neighboring table when we paid the bill? No. What he did do was hand out little cards with a QR code and his name and tell guests that if we leave a review and mention him, he gets $15. "One side for Google, one side for Yelp. I get $15 for each." The other staff seemed well-intended, just crazily busy. We only ate here each morning because we had a $60 Chase Edit credit. Otherwise we'd go elsewhere.

Stayed here recently for 5 nights and still enjoy the convenience since it is walking distance to wherever I need to go after work. Valet parking has gone up to $57 a night but it is worth it since the new contract parking company has a system where you call a phone number and you then enter your tix number and you receive a call when the car will be ready for you. Staff has always been great at the Front Desk as well as the Valet team who I interacted with this week. MY only comments are that I wish they would upgrade the rooms. I was on the 14th floor due to my Bonvoy status and the room although nice showed signs of wear such as when one of the wheels came off on the movable desk which I reattached and the bathroom wall paper at the toilet area had old handprints on it which could have easily been wiped down by Housekeeping. Carpets should be removed in the Guest Rooms during the next rooms renovation as the new Courtyards now have the laminated wood floors which are really nice and much easier for Housekeeping to clean. Other than the above, this is still my Go To hotel when coming to Portland.
