After previously using and recommending Window World, we are purchasing a new house and I wanted to…read moreget the windows replaced. Now, I am a rational person, however, the quote I was given was exhorbinantly high. $15000+ for six windows and 2 standard 72" X 80" sliders. Window sizes didn't matter as they said they charge one price for any window. So after looking over the estimate and figuring I had other things I need to budget first, (kitchen and bath remodel) I have them redo the quote for just 4 windows. $5465 for FOUR windows. I'm utterly frustrated at this point. I called and asked to speak to either a sales manager or the owner, and haven't heard back from anyone thus far. I'm sorry but I know materials and stuff went up, but to be charging $1366.25 per window seems to be excessive. These aren't Pellas, they are standard sliding vinyl windows (sliders are the cheapest to manufacture as per their own saleswoman) Needles to say I guess I will not be doing business with them anymore.

The first problem was that we were told our doors would be in within 10 weeks (they were not). The second issue was that our front door was the wrong color on the inside. The third issue was that the guy measured our back door wrong therefore ordered the wrong size. We then had to wait another 8+ weeks to get the correct door (which we were told was a standard factory door and should be in stock). Now we have the door frame falling apart, the window in the front door rattles, and there is cold air coming in from underneath the back door. This is unacceptable. We are very dissatisfied.  I am attaching a picture of the external door frame that is pulling away from the house.

Champion Windows installed a large first floor living room window at our home in Columbia, SC, in…read more2019. We believe the window began leaking within three years, leading to catastrophic damage, including moldy carpet and interior studs, a rotting foundation beneath the window, destroyed drywall beneath the window, large cracks beside and above the window on both the first and second floors due to the destroyed foundation, and a back door that no longer shut properly. We first noticed the problems in 2024, when we spotted mold growing in the carpet beneath the window, and over the next few months discovered extensive additional damage and reached the obvious conclusion that the window was leaking. Champion, alerted to these problems in early 2025, and despite the firm's "lifetime guarantee," made absolutely no effort either to understand the problem or to fix it. Instead, after an ineffectual visit to our home by several executives (they took pictures of the cracks), Champion brought in their insurance company, Liberty Mutual, who hired an engineering/consulting firm, Rimkus, to investigate the leak. The end result was a series of increasingly bizarre claims in which everyone and everything was blamed except for the window. The rot was due to mold climbing up from the ground, we were told at first, after which Rimkus insisted that all the leaking was due to a March 2025 re-siding project completed years after leaking began. No party ever performed true forensics, e.g. removing the drywall and testing the window for leaks, so we had to do so ourselves, creating a video that clearly showed that when water was poured on the exterior windowsill, it quickly ran down the internal wall studs and soaked the wood foundation. Even after we provided this video as part of the exhaustive documentation Liberty demanded, any responsibility for the problems on Champion's part was completely rejected by Liberty. In the end, we had to pay out of our own pockets to replace moldy carpet, shore up the rotting foundation and studs beneath the window, replace the window, repair and repaint the cracked and wet drywall, rehang an exterior door twice, and make other repairs, some of which are ongoing. (NOTE: All details of this complaint are thoroughly documented and have been shared with the listed parties, none of whom have offered any remedy)

Our salesman (George) did a masterful job and offered what we thought was a decent price for a new front door with sidelight. We are happy with the end result. I asked George to connect me with a local customer so I could see their installation and ask them about their experience. George said no problem and he found a willing Champion customer. Problem #1: when I tried to get an appointment with this customer I got no reply. Promise but don't deliver. Problem #2: the two-man install crew spoke no English. BIG problem when it came time to communicate my concern about how they were attempting to install our expensive door by shimming it at the bottom to close the BIG gap at the top. We were finally able through the use out smart phone language translators to get the install on the right track. Problem #3: During the install I called George and Eddie (local guy I gave payment #2) to see if they could help with the install somehow. They ghosted me. I was able to get Paul (?) on the phone and he assured me that the crew was trained and capable. I wasn't convinced because of what I had seen so far. The crew finally agreed with me to attach a piece of plywood on the sill to raise the door and give it a firm base to rest on. That worked but why didn't they do that first instead of trying to make up 1/2" to 3/4" gaps all the way around with shims. Not so well trained. I've built my own home and im glad I was watching the install otherwise Im betting our new door wouldn't stay in place for very long. Problem #4: we received an email advising us our installation was scheduled to start between 0800 and 1000. We specifically asked for a start time at noon or later. I was able to get the start date confirmed for noon or later. Problem #5: the install crew arrived at 1100 and we weren't ready for them to start yet. I suggested they take lunch and return at noon. They did. At this point I admit that all the negative reviews I read online (there were more than one or two) that said that communication in and around your company was not great are true. At the beginning of this I mentioned that we are happy with the result and we are. How we got here is the rub. If anyone asks where got our door, I will tell them but they will also be given my buyer beware because of all the issues that probably shouldn't have occurred. My unsolicited advice is don't send non-English speaking installation crews out unless the homeowner speaks the same language. I hope we have no warranty issues.

My review would have been a five star, but it took 6 months from order to install and this caused me unnecessary stress and an additional $800 to my contractor to frame in the windows that were 6 weeks later than originally quoted. If you are in no hurry, Pella of Irmo has great product. If you are, double check with the salesman and Pella corporate for lead times.

We were originally told the project would be completely finished in about 6 months. After ZERO communications and repeated requests for updates the project finally started 7 months later. We had multiple windows ordered incorrectly and ordered multiple times incorrectly, this all added to the delay in finishing the project. At one point a large picture window was shattered during install and was left in place with the shards of shattered glass being scattered everywhere when the wind blows. six weeks later after repeated calls and emails the glass was replaced with the replacement I had in my garage the entire time that was ordered the wrong color and left until the correct window could be installed. All in all the project took about 14 months to complete and although the Pella product itself is fantastic. I can not recommend Pella windows $ doors in Irmo. The commutation is horrible! Customer service is even worse! all of our issues could have been resolved easily by communicating timelines and expectations. We we all understand not being able to get product in this day and age. this does not excuse poor communication and poor customer service!

When we went to put up our blinds and the windows were recessed in too deep and there is no way to hang our blinds. My husband and I were never explained or told we could not hang blinds and the company and installer knew we were going to hang back our original blinds otherwise he would not have told us to wait 2 days. We have contacted your company on several occasions and the salesman, Paul, was sent out as well as the lead installer, Travis, (not the person who originally installed the windows) and both did not understand why the windows were installed this way and said they would get back to us. After contacting the company in Greenville several times, Jon Burr, called me back and said there is nothing he can do and they installed a functioning window. I said you have not even seen our windows in person and he stated he was happy to come take a look but his answer probably will not change. I find it very hard to believe that everyone that gets replacement windows will not be able to have blinds and if that is the case this info should have been presented well before we agreed to the new windows. So we just spent $10,000 with this company on windows and they are telling us now that we cannot have blinds? I have not been able to put up blinds in my 2 year olds room or our bedroom which has been a disaster! The windows are recessed too deep and are not even placed where the original windows were placed. We just want this problem fixed. We have left several messages for Mark or Karla Nichols, the owners of the company, and are still waiting for them to respond. I would recommend using a different company if you need new windows.
