Drunk. And knocked unconcious. When making an offer, I wanted to offer approx 5 percent less than the asking price. My agent told me "oh no, we don't want to insult them." Excuse me, who are you reprsenting!? Also, on my final walk through...she was annoyed that I caught a few things that had NOT been repaired according to the sales contract. Luckily my real estate attorney forced the sellers to escrow the money for repairs at closing, so I did not get screwe over...but had it been up to my agent I'd have just shut my mouth and closed the deal so she could get the comission. My agent was so...unambitious, unassertive, un real estate agent-like. I kept asking around at how much experience she had, thinking she MUST BE new. No dice, she had 10 years of experience and still had no answers to my questions, and constantly having to get back to me after she talked with the boss. It's like, how do you not know these things!? Or...anything for that matter!? Needless to say, I will do much more research when I find my next agent. I chalk it up to naivete and youth, and I will not make the same mistake again. They do have a nice office...but that's the only positive I can think of.

The agency, named Sarah, often hang up my phone while most of the time she won't reply my message, phone and email. And the attitude is rude, tough and impolite. I don't know why. Maybe because my nationality? When I can't get what she says and ask her speak slower, her attitude is arrogant and teasing me with one to one word which sounds ambiguous. I know there is gap between different country. But I have been staying in kind of western countries for many years. I can feel, I can distinguish that This kind of attitude is discrimination to me, disgraceful and hurt my Chinese self-respect. There comes another agency named Adam. I thought I saw the hope to get reasonable treatment and respectful attitude. When I ask for release for more than one month ago, after many times of Sarah' insult attitude and I turned to connect with Adam. At first I tried many times and spend a lot of time to get the final definite procedure to do the sublease, which you know the whole thing is really torturing me: I seldom could contact with Adam and get stuck in everyday' waiting. After the sublease guy's the application online and paid the charge,I waited for 11 days to get Adam'reply that the guy's application online is approved but what never told me is that I should wait for the other people who rent the house' agreement! And then I have to get stuck in another time' waiting and I don't know how long should I wait. Because I can not get Adam' reply any more. Really torturing me a long time. I just don't know why the simple things become so complex. In other property management, it is quick that let the previous tenant and future tenant sit together with the agency and sign the contract on the spot and solve the problem. What make me feel really suffering is I seldom get the agency 'reply. I really can't stand this.Because my nationality, language, female, student, that I get such treatment? I think America is a fair country. This is housing discrimination which is against the law Fair Housing Act of 1968. I really feel desperate for the thing.

We owe much of this opportunity to our realtor Damian Albert who walked with us from the very beginning of our search, when we only had a vague idea of what kind of property we were looking for, down to the last conversation we had following our close at the title company office. Homebuying in an inflated market is absolutely a roller coaster ride of emotions. But what we appreciated about Damian was his professionalism, calm, and attention to detail through each phase of the process. Being new to homebuying, we had little idea of what to expect or how the process worked. But Damian took the time to explain the steps to us in a way that was clear and was quick to return calls when we had questions. Early in the process, Damian was prompt in scheduling showings and was thorough in pointing out features and themes to look for, when it came to good signs or red flags concerning features of properties. As we begun to narrow down the most important characteristics we were looking for in a future home, we did not feel rushed or pressured to make a decision. Damian was never prescriptive in giving us advice, but urged us to be patient with ourselves to ensure that we would feel comfortable with whatever decisions we came to. By the time we were ready to make an offer, Damian counseled us on how to approach the situation out of both his experience and with empirical market research. He provided recommendations for home inspection, financing, and legal representatives and helped us negotiate with a tough seller to close the deal. If you are looking for an experienced realtor who cares about not just his own bottom line, but deeply about people and communities, we would highly recommend Damian.

For a first time homebuyer, purchasing a home can be a daunting and intimidating task (Or so I've…read moreheard). Not to mention, purchasing one in the midst of a pandemic where the interest in homeownership has skyrocketed causing a record-breaking decrease in inventory coupled with inflated prices to match. This was the situation when my wife and I entered the market on 12/23/20 in search of our new home in the Galewood area of Chicago's Austin community. We were very ambitious buyers with a relatively limited budget. This means we wanted all the amenities like specific location, sizable square footage, move-in ready with modern finishes, and a big backyard with a garage but for the best value possible. Thankfully for us, our realtor is a realist. Damian's pragmatic approach to aiding us in our search was not only helpful, it was ideal. During our search, we toured 9 properties in 46 days. Just under half of those checked our wish list for the desired location. If the property had one thing it was missing another and new listings were far and in between. Our hope was to find the right home before the summer but success was proving to be more challenging than we thought. However, Damian was encouraging throughout and most of all - patient. Whenever we went to view a property, he always seized the opportunity to educate us about the fine points of homeownership and the many factors we needed to consider short and long-term. When he wasn't showing us properties, he was sending us examples to view so we could continue to increase our understanding on what home would best suit our family. This is what ultimately led us to make an offer and successfully purchase the first home on our tour list he curated. Damian's knowledge and experience provided us with just enough guidance to make a difficult and weighty decision, logical and clear. This made our experience as first time homebuyers delightful and memorable. Today, we are enjoying our new home and couldn't be happier with our purchase. This wouldn't have been possible without the right realtor. Whether you are a first time buyer like us or looking to purchase another property, Damian's attention to detail, thorough analysis, and professionalism makes him an ideal realtor for today's housing market.
