A lot of the younger classes focussed on skill building, but not much direct soccer which was what my little guy wanted. Lots of obstacle courses and games, but some weeks he didn't even get to kick a ball into a net (the epitome of what soccer means at that age). Also, they make you buy a uniform every year ($40) which I thought was unnecessary and a lame way of taking more money.

These coaches spend their weekends getting to know our children and teaching them skills that are useful on and off the field. My son loves the color red and often wants red colored cones, hula hoops, etc...A few months ago one of his three coaches was Coach Leah and we really enjoyed her- she is now one of his main coaches. A few weeks back, not seeing our son in probably months, Coach Leah addressed him by his name and handed him a piece of red equipment telling him how she knows he likes red. It's positive interactions like this, that show how much effort and heart these coaches put into this toddler program. Kickstart could be an easy cash grab with coaches who just show up to work- this is not the case. I love what Kickstart is about and I can't wait until our youngest is able to start this program.

Marla, and the assistant instructor Rachel, are absolute gems. They clearly love archery, and they are phenomenal at teaching it. Every so often another instructor, Brian, will come over and offer some assistance too, and he's amazing as well The kids in the youth class are clearly taught range safety, and they take it seriously. They also clearly enjoy their instructors as well, which is something that is so important in youth coaching. ( I am a youth coach in another sport.) The range itself is really well situated, and they have a small pro-shop as well. If they can't do something for you, they will send you to the right place to get it done. If you're looking for a place to get started (or to get back into it in my case) this would be the place to go.

The process was simple since we had lined up our group and paid ahead of time. We had Coach Payton (I hope I spelled it correctly). He was extremely informative and explained what we were going to do for our two hours there. We all had a blast and he was extremely patient with us all. Only after taking my money did they inform me (eight hours later) that her class time would be changing the next week. The new time didn't work for us, and the only alternatives were on completely different days. When I asked for options, the so-called manager called back and gave me two days to use the makeup classes or lose them. Two days, for classes I already paid for. When I asked for a little grace since I had just found out about the change, she refused and condescendingly reminded me that she "didn't have to" refund me for July, a payment I had made less than 24 hours earlier before being told about the schedule change. Meanwhile, my husband took our daughter to class the same day we were told about the change, and no one said a word to him in person. I paid $250 for two classes, got zero flexibility, and was made to feel like I should be grateful for a partial refund they never should have taken in the first place. They clearly care more about squeezing every dollar out of parents than providing good communication or customer service. Completely unprofessional and borderline scammy. Beware. IN RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS RESPONSE: Your response is a perfect example of the problem. You claim to "do your best," but the facts tell a different story. You asked for payment before disclosing a major schedule change, then gave us just two days to use makeup tokens for classes we had already paid for, all while refusing any flexibility when I requested a simple extension. Offering a refund after collecting money under false pretenses is not a favor, it is damage control. You also did not offer to save the makeup tokens for future use. I specifically asked for that and was told no. And no one mentioned a word to my husband in person during the next class, which shows how poorly communication is handled across your team. Parents deserve transparency and respect, not excuses after the fact. I paid $250 for two classes, received no real options, and was treated like I should be grateful just to not lose more money. This experience was not just disappointing, it felt exploitative.

Renaissance has a great atmosphere, very community-based. The kids are always excited to be there, and the adults you'd think were friends for decades. They welcome everyone. The coaches are former world team members, NCAA fencers, NCAA coaches, and Olympians. They represent several different countries as well. I am not a member of the club, but I spend a few nights a month there. I myself am a national and international referee who represents the United States, and I offer my time to the athletes and parents to answer questions and give insight when needed. You won't find this type of community nor fencing experience at any other club in the area, there are none that compare nor even come close. If you're looking for a fencing club, whether for a child or adult, this is the place to be, hands down.

While wins are important at the club level, this is not a 'win at all costs' organization. Every player that makes a team plays. No favorites, no bench-warmers. Not all clubs have this mentality.
