Visited for the first time for a baseball game . I was pleasantly surprised by how well organized everything was. There were lot of people guiding way to our seats. We had a hotdog, drink and a bag of chips included with the ticket but there were a lot of other food and drink vendors on the spots. Though the ticket said no outside drinks, we were allowed water bottles probably cos it was really hot. We were able to park easily at parking lot A which is free and a 3 mins walk away. Restrooms were clean. Other than the convenience, the vibe was great. The game was interesting . I loved the music and cute fillers during the breaks. It was a motorcycle night on that day so we got to see bunch of amazing bikes in attendance. It was also Thirsty Thursday and they had 2$ beer. I've been coming here for many years but last Friday I had an "above and beyond expectations" experience. I brought my 12 year grandson with me and I bought him a Woolly Mammoth hat and jersey and he asked me if I could get him a sharpie so he could get some autographs I had my doubts he could get them but I bought it anyway. Well, not only did he get autographs, one of the players gave him his Wooly Mammoth necklace! He wore that along with his new hat and jersey for the four following days we had them! My company had a back to school event here for staff members and when I had the opportunity to check this place out, I hopped on it and got tickets. I know where it is, and have an interest in seeing what's up with this field. Parking here's relatively easy considering it's located at a busy intersection. They have a VIP lot and a regular parking lot that has staff members giving directions at the Entrance. They have a box office that sells tickets and a nice open waiting area for groups of any size to wait in. We were located in the Chevy Pavilion near the outfield, so I got a nice walk back there to my seating area. Well, it's really a patio with covered tables but still just as good. They have several vendors selling beer, food and memorabilia throughout if you're interested. Their stuff seems reasonably priced and they even have a restaurant here as well. The place is clean and well staffed and in good working order. While we had a food buffet set up for our event, along with a private bar so we didn't have to leave the area, I do have a few complaints. First, the bee's were EVERYWHERE. Everyone was noticing, and not just in our area. I sense it's obviously an ongoing problem and it was super annoying. It kind of took away from the fun of things having to swat all the bee's away constantly. Secondly, I can't tell if they had a billboard or not since we were in the outfield. If there was, we must have either been behind it or whatever because I couldn't see a thing. People (and companies) spend a lot of money to reserve this area and I'd like to know basic things such as the score, what inning we're in, etc. Third, I noticed during one of the innings that the "traditional" seating area (where individuals sit, not group parties like ours) sit get cheer leaders and entertainment but they skipped our section entirely. You can't send some of the dancers back here? I'm not trying to sound ungrateful as I did have a good time here, but basic things like random entertainment and a scoreboard got overlooked when they built this area. It would be nice if they remedied that considering how many folks they can fit back here. (and it's a lot! Well over 100 of us.) Overall a great experience otherwise. read more

This review is more for this event than the stadium itself. As far as the stadium goes: This is a fun, family friendly, place. The seats are all really good so you can see what is going on. The fans are all friendly. They have great food and beer here. There are cabanas and suites available to rent with catered food. Mascots walk around for photo opportunities. The kids can run the bases after the game. They have fireworks as well. Parking is a bit of a hike. As for this event: Absolutely gorgeous day for an outdoor event. We got tickets kind of last minute. $30/ticket you get 10 drink tickets good for 3 oz pours. They had several breweries set up. All were fairly local. Loaded dice had the biggest line and seemed most popular. I didn't understand why they kept us all hoarded into one area instead of spreading the venders around. Also, the food was limited. That surprised me as well. Why not spread out the venders and have all the food available. It was very crowded. The band was terrific and 10 beers were plenty. You could also buy full beers if you wanted. We left here and went down the street to Muldoon's for dinner. I would definitely do this again next year. Great field for a minor league baseball ballpark only thing they really need to do is ball field care to grass

We have been here several times and enjoy coming to the game every once in a while. This was the first time we got lawn seats. I would get them again if the circumstances were right. The lawn seats are great if you have young kids that won't sit in a seat and want to run around or if you don't want to be sitting on top of people. You can bring a blanket and stretch out. It's also great if you are on a tighter budget. However with that being said it feels a little bit like your missing out on some of the action from the lawn. The speakers are not loud enough so it is hard to hear everything that is going on. But on the plus side we were able to scoot out quickly before the stands emptied after the fireworks. read more

I lived by here when they first started building the field, and always wondered who would really come out here to see a game. I moved away then came back and was given free tickets to attend a military appreciation night. Someone called it a mini Comerica park and it really does feel like it! But you can't beat the free parking, low ticket prices and all the fun things they have going on for everyone. They have different food vendors, beer, and dole whip! There's a few teams which play here and it has a high-school/college feel to it, but some of the players end up getting drafted, which makes it neat to say, "hey, I saw so-and-so play before they made it big." It's a great family fun night, sad we came right before the season ended so we will be back again when the new season starts! It was also neat to have met some of the players after the game. 2019-07-14. Jimmy John's Field. What a great day! Sunny and 88. The West Side Mammoths vs the hometown Utica Unicorns. Jimmy John's field is located in downtown Utica. They offer free parking in one of three lots adjacent to the field. Even at the farthest spot of the furthest lot, you're still ess than a 5 minute walk to the entrance. By the east entrance there is the Henry Ford Kids Zone for kids 5-12. A rope climbing structure with the reward of a slide at the top. Also there is is the wiffle ball field for the development of future stars! A speed pitch in the far east corner tests the skills of the young and old for just a buck ($1) for two throws. Throw your first and see if you can guess the speed of your second! A large canopied eating area as well as umbrella covered tables occupy the area before the Cabanas which come complete with a fireplace for those cooler fall games. Food and drink vendors line the perimeter wall inside the park that runs parallel to Auburn St. Your park favourites are served, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, etc. There are no bad seats at Jimmy John's field. With only 12 rows separating the first from the last row, you're guaranteed a great view of the game. We got platinum (rows 2-5) seats behind home plate and to the left for $20 apiece. There is no staff peddling ice cold beer and snacks so if you need anything you will need to go and get it yourself. What I remember growing up about baseball is the footlong hotdogs, and this was what I wanted to pass onto my kids, that and the fun of a day out in the park and the sun! Dugout Dogs - monster dog $7. This is definitely not your Kogel footlong. It's about twice as thick to give you a little value for the price. Cooked on a flat grill, it crisped the outside. Not the same steamed dog I had when I was little... We've come a long way. But no matter, I just wanted my kids to experience it. I loved the footlong when I was little, and it's still nostalgic! I'll always be a fan, 4 stars. The Sweet Spot - Dole Whip $7. We had this at Disney and it was fantastic! It was a bit more tart this time around with a little more pineapple flavour/juice in the mix, but still a great way to cool off in the heat. 5 stars. What my little one noticed was that despite it being the Jimmy John's field, there is actually no Jimmy John's on site. If you're looking for one of their sandwiches, you'll need to order it for delivery; no worries though, they're freaky fast and they'll deliver right to your seat! If you're wondering why there isn't a location on site, it has to do with franchise proximity. Since JJ's field is already within another locations delivery area, Corporate policy forbids any additional locations. If I had the rights to the JJ field area, my plea to Corporate would be to allow me to open up a location there... after all can you really encroach on yourself? Bat Dog? My how times have changed... when I grew up, a bat boy or girl came out to retrieve the bats after a player made a hit. Today, that job has expanded to include dogs! Well here at least... occassionally, a dog comes out to retrieve the bat after a successful hit... quite cute. Tip. When you buy the platinum seats, you're really paying for the sunshine. If you rather not be in the heat, go for seats in the upper half (rows 8-14). We left at the Stretch because of another engagement, and the score was tied at one... baseball runs all summer long from May 10 through Sept 8. Overall, it's still an enjoyable way to spend a day. What a beautiful ballpark! My family and I purchased tickets to a baseball game and could not have been more thrilled with the experience. We sat on the first base line, a few rows up. The seats were perfect, spaced apart comfortably, and social distancing measures were taken. The park was extremely clean and cared for well. Restrooms were nice, well stocked, and cool. They had plenty of activities for children and multiple giveaways. The one negative of our visit was that the assigned seating was not enforced. We purchased our tickets and sat in the correct seats but a family nearby was sitting in seats that did not belong to them. When another family came over they refused to get up and no one working at the park made any effort to ask them to move. It didn't directly affect me but it was irritating to witness. read more

We were invited to attend a wedding reception and Io and behold it was at Jimmy John's field. What an awesome place to go and see a baseball game and gather with friends and family. Such a great night out for the whole family! Baseball fans young and old will enjoy!! It is such a fun, affordable outing! Tickets are reasonable, lawn seats are $6! There is a playground for the kids and all the mascots more than happy to take pictures with all the little ones. The night we went, Kids were able to run the bases after the game, and fireworks after that. This is a great place to bring your kids who are not fully aware of what should be going on during a baseball game, but you would like for them to have a fun night at the ball park. Who wants to spend $30+ for a seat way up high at Comerica, only to have the kids get bored and see little specs on the field?! Our nephew is 5 and loved seeing everything going on around, and all the entertainment between innings. He lasted the whole night and enjoyed himself. A big question about this place was parking. There is a big parking lot (FREE) behind the field. You do not have to be a season ticket holder to park here either. It is open to everyone. There is also lots of street parking, and public lots. I was really worried about parking, but it was a non-factor! The park itself is beautiful. Every member of staff we encountered were very friendly, and all seemed genuinely excited to be there. It isn't huge, but it is a good size. I saw a lot of older people who might normally skip a night downtown (either due to cost or accessibility issues), having a great time with their kids and grand kids. The concessions are all reasonably priced as well. Tall boy Bud can was $5, lots of Michigan craft beer for $7. Hot dogs were $3, and gelato was $4. GELATO, not ice cream (they had that too!) :-)!! We sat in our seats most of the game, but moved around towards the end, there is not a bad seat in the house! Our group wants to look into the suites and dugout suites. I had read all the buzz about this new gem in Utica, so we took a bike ride that started at Clinton River Heritage Park and headed over to the opening day activities to take it all in from the outside. This is a very nice looking ball park and it is the home for Independent League baseball, but they plan on hosting other activities here, such as fireworks, graduations, concerts, ice skating, outdoor hockey games and soccer. The parking lot holds about 500 vehicles and the parking is free. Ticket prices are very affordable which makes it a great place to take the family for a fun inexpensive day out. I think this ballpark will be the 'field of dreams' for many reasons. Not only the players who might be hoping to make it into the Major Leagues, but for the city of Utica and the economy of the surrounding area. One other neat point is the Clinton River Bike Trail runs alongside the ballpark and you can hear the excitement and sounds coming from the field as you ride by! read more

Attended Jimmy Johns Field for my sons Campus U Baseball Tourney and was very pleased. Seating and viewing points for fans are first rate! Makes me want to go watch an evening of baseball there. Dugouts are large although they are a little further down the baseline than typical but then again, I think this is accommodate more great seats for fans. Refreshments and bathrooms were plentiful. So close to home. It's a great slogan. I was really excited when I heard about this ballpark being built. I'm a HUGE baseball fan. I was hoping that it would be really great for families and the community. It turns out that my dreams came true. Andy Applebee was the mastermind behind this park. Not only does he own it, he's there for nearly every game. Shaking hands and giving high fives to the kids. The thing I like the most about the park is that it's small. Any seat in the grandstands is a great seat. The field size is on par with other major baseball parks. Right and left field lines are 325'and center field is 400'. The level of play in the league is also really good. Each of the 4 teams have their stars. I really enjoy going to a lot of games so I know which players to follow throughout their stint here in Utica. Ticket prices are really affordable. Grandstand seats range from $12 - $30 each. Lawn seats are $6 each. The lawn can be painful sometimes because the sun shines directly into right field. Evening games are rough as the sun sets behind the grandstands. The food at this place is great. Jimmy John's field serves up the standard dogs, but they also have some really tasty treats like nachos (fully loaded, please), cheese steaks, Chik-fil-A (on Thursdays), funnel cake fries and so much more! The craft beer selection is great too. Brooks Brewing, Sherwood, New Holland, Griffin Claw and Founders come to mind. The prices on food and beer aren't too bad. It's certainly not as bad as a major league park. Oh, and no Jimmy John's sandwiches are served here (unless you're in a suite or cabana). If you're not up for buying food at the park, downtown Utica has a fantastic selection of restaurants right down the street. The atmosphere is fantastic at Jimmy John's field. I've been to several games and have never had a bad time. I never feel like it's too crowded. Even on sold-out Friday nights when they light off their spectacular fireworks show. Kids get to run the bases after every game, too. Speaking of the kids, there is a great play area with a giant play set for the kids to climb around on. Nice stadium. To much netting around the seating area for me but I understand the safety aspect. I had the three taco combo for $8 not bad. Three tacos drink and chips. Also had the Bavarian pretzel also very good. They had an AC/DC tribute bad there playing they where awesome. As for the play on the field rather sloppy baseball but I didn't expect to see MLB caliber play but these kids do work there tails off , I really appreciate that as a fan. Ticket prices are ok . I've been struggling with how to write about my experience at Jimmy John's Field over the season. There are so many ways and words I could use to describe it, but none of them seem fitting enough. So I guess let me dive right in. I want to compliment the entire staff, from guest services and ushers to the concessions and dance team and everyone in between. Our experiences with them have all been terrific and top notch, another great perk is they don't make you dig your ticket out of your pocket every time you are returning to your seat. I just can't speak enough good things about all of these hard working members who clearly work very well as Jimmy John's Field and the USPBL's 5th team. The only other places I've experienced this type of excellent customer service are Chick-fil-A and Walt Disney World. The prices are so reasonable that I actually feel compelled to let my son get the dippin dots or the souvenir he is eyeing at the game we are attending. If we were to go to the "other game in town," there's no way we could afford tickets, parking, concessions, souvenirs, etc. Oh and let's not forget to mention the free kids play structure and wiffle ball field, that sure beats paying for ferris wheel and carousel rides. Lastly, I'd like to compliment the owner. Opening Day we see him out there helping at the ticket area, helping wherever it is needed and he never let's you know he's the owner. The thing that really impressed me is that after every game, Andy Appleby is right there shaking hands with everyone as they leave at a main exit not up by the VIP area. I truly feel by his actions alone we are all one family and in this together. I can't wait to upgrade my season ticket package next year and hopefully bring others with me. read more

A great family friendly venue! Their location in Utica at M-59 / Hall Road near Van Dyke allows visitors from all over the Metro Detroit area easy access. At the invitation of a friend, I attended my first ballgame at this park on Sunday afternoon. I was impressed at how nice it was. Plenty of free parking, smaller crowds than I expected, and cheaper prices all around. Employees greet you when you arrive and also when you depart. Eats and drinks are served from portable stands. Dearborn Brand Sausages and Better Made potato chips are sourced locally. While the pricing is not the same as at your local convenience store, grilled sausages, drinks and snacks are still reasonable. Also, around the 7th inning, sausages go on sale, if you can hold out that long. Hats, shirts and other memorabilia are available in your favorite team's colors. There are three teams presently in the league, and all three teams are equally represented. Team mascots are a hit with the kids and a couple times during the game, there were free giveaways in the stands, I certainly can't capture every aspect of my experience here, but rest assured, my first visit was truly an enjoyable experience. Love Jimmy John's Field! Right in downtown Utica within walking distance to the bars and walking trails to River Bends park. I don't even like baseball and I am always up for a trip to Jimmy John's Field. The ticket prices are super reasonable, the staff is so helpful when renting the cabanas and they have a great beer selection with Brooks and Sherwood representing the local breweries. I recommend the drink rail for first timers. It is a great viewing experience on the second floor. I just attended the Beauty And The Beast movie night and it was so fun to watch the little kids totally nerd out about the movie and getting to sit on the field. The ONLY complaints I have include there only being one restroom on the second floor and the fact that i cannot get a Jimmy John's sandwich and Jimmy John's field. read more

The family finally made it out to Jimmy John's Field, and were very impressed. It's a great place for the family, and our infield seats (right by 3rd base) had fantastic sight lines. They have a wide variety of food at decent prices (for a ballpark) -- I wanted to try the garlic fries, but didn't get a chance. Parking is easy, and the fact that they have shuttles was a big help (although we didn't see them until we left). The kids enjoyed the playscape and little diamond, although they get a little crowded. The teams were good, the only thing that needed some improvement was the announcing (it drifted off at times). I really hope that they can keep this going for a long time. It's a community jewel, even though I've seen some stories about the neighbors complaining about it being there (and you can tell they've turned the music down to pacify the neighbors, to the point of it not being that easy to hear sometimes). We will definitely go back before the end of the season -- a good time was had by all. read more

I have loved baseball for as long as I can remember. Though I have always been a huge Tiger fan, I've come to appreciate minor league ball in the past several years. The parks are smaller (bringing you close to the game) and the vibe is pleasantly corny. See the movie Bull Durham to know what I mean. Until this year, there were no minor league venues in the Metro Detroit area; the closest were in Toledo, Lansing and Midland. Now, we have the fledgling United Shore Professional Baseball League playing at Jimmy John's Field. I came away impressed. First of all, the stadium is beautiful, clean, modern and well proportioned with great views all around. There are lots of concession options (even a veggie burger). The quality of play is decent (about the level of low A independent ball). The minor league atmosphere is there (novelty acts and little games between innings). The staff was uniformly friendly. There is also a large, free parking lot nearby. The league has only three teams now; all of them play at the field. However, it works even that way (I heard quite a few partisans of one side or the other); they may expand next year. Everyone was having fun (especially the kids - they have their own whiffle ball field!). This is a great option for local baseball fans to enjoy the game in a more intimate and budget-friendly way. I've heard the rumors and rumblings that this would happen and I'm actually surprised that Jimmy John's field actually came to be! I've got to say that this place is top notch; it far exceeded my expectations. Now, I'm not going to tell you that the baseball is *great*. It's been good, and again, better than I expected, but not great, but it does make for a fun and cheap night out. I've been here four or five times and I plan on going once a weekend throughout the season. The teams have been a little inconsistent; a 20-3 blowout one night and a 3-3 nail biter the next. This is semi-pro ball, so again, I'm not expecting major league quality, but it's all about having fun. The facilities are fantastic. Everything is easy to get to and more and more features have been added as the season has gone on. There are more concession stands throughout the park now and vendors barking the isles have been added too. The entire staff has been great so far; from the ticketing folks, to the vendors and ushers. Everyone is friendly and always makes sure that you can find everything you're looking for and most importantly, thanking you for coming and asking for your repeat business. Even the younger employees engage in a quick conversation, just to make sure that you're having a good time. That's some pretty great service. There's really not a bad seat in the house, and the "secret" is the drink rail seats. You're above the grandstand seating, you get your own little table space and the view is great. The stadium is kept neat and clean, especially the bathrooms, which is a huge plus. The drinks and food are reasonably priced and the food is quite good! I can't say it's better or worse than other stadium food that I've had, but I've not had anything bad! You'll pay a bit more for craft beer options, but there are stands everywhere that sell 12oz "domestic" cans for $3 and pints for $5. Really, these are very reasonable prices. I can't recall the name, but there's even a little restaurant just inside the main entrance and while the menu was limited, they still maintain good prices on drinks and the staff/service is just as good as the rest of the park. I'm laughing at a few of these other reviews that are complaining about the prices... Get the $10 drink rail seats and grab a $5 pint. That sure beats the prices of a Tigers game! And the parking isn't bad at all and it's free! Get there bit early and grab a spot in one of the public lots and you won't have to wait to leave once the game lets out. Explore downtown Utica a bit, grab a burger at The Shamrock and have fun at the ball game! Really though, this place is great and I hope they are able to use it for more than baseball. Utica is a small town and I grew up there, so I'm still a bit surprised that the local government actually entertained this idea... I'm sure this has been great for the local businesses, and it truly is a ton of fun and it won't break the bank. So get out there and catch a game! read more

It will be a long time, if ever, before my family and I visit Jimmy John's Field. We have had some great times there in the past so 10 months ago I reserved a large patio space to hold my daughter's graduation party. During these 10 months I have remained in contact with the salesperson and during COVID, our communication increased and I was even told they would host the party, even if there wasn't a game. Well, they lied!! Three weeks before the party, I got a call telling me they were canceling the party because of capacity limitations and they wanted to be able to offer seats to their season ticket holders, leaving us high and dry and ultimately having to cancel the party because we couldn't get another venue in such a short time frame. My Sunday afternoon with o!d friends and new neighbors ...the weather was perfect...the Unicorns won....and after the game my group met the owner Mr.Appleby.....all the workers friendly ....had a great time then strolled up the street for some more liquids and munchies....Utica a small town with BIG enjoyment....... read more

Nice hometown venue. The netting was distracting and made it hard to see the game. Fun place to take small kids interested in baseball. read more

What a great new venue to bring to downtown Utica! I went to 10-15 games last year and had a blast @ every one! Tickets are no more than 20 bucks and there is not a bad seat in the house!! In fact, I actually did a birthday event there for about 20 people and they have an entire patio section right by the 3rd base line/ dugout that you can reserve. Kota of different seating selections... from grass seats to VIP cabanas to field level seats behind home plate. They always have local food and beer vendors there which is very cool to bring to light the local businesses. Beers are very reasonable about 3.50 for a 12OZ bud light or domestic. Owner always stands out at one of the exits and thanks people for coming up the games! Very family friendly and clean. And when the game is over there are some great local bars right up the road where you can grab some good food! I would suggest heading to Shamrocks for a great burger!! read more

What a great place to spend summer evenings! Try the lounge areas if you can. And make sure to run the bases after the game!
