If you'd rather be treated my therapists who have the time to treat you and the experience to know which techniques are going to move the needle, Sovereign Rehab is the spot. As someone who had his first knee surgery in high school and has had several since, I've been exposed to my fair share of PTs. Keith and his team are the best I've been around. They employ all the latest techniques and take a thoughtful approach to each patient's treatment. Critically, they truly care about their patients and go above and beyond to help them get back to doing the things they want do. After those six weeks, I was moved to a short-leg cast, and was referred to physical therapy to start range-of-motion (ROM) exercises. Never having been to PT, I did not know what to expect, but I saw this Athletico was close by, so I decided to try it out. I submitted a request for an appointment through their website, and received a call that same day from Elise. Elise was extremely helpful and ensured I got on their schedule right away. I started PT about two days per week, starting with ROM exercises, then moving on to weight-bearing, then running/jumping. All-in-all, since I did not have surgery, my recovery was much longer, but we got through everything starting in February, and I was discharged in October. I can't say enough great things about this Athletico location. I came in completely nervous about this experience, but Ryan and Mitch were able to calm my nerves immediately and they helped me along every step of this tough journey. Being in PT for eight months, you start to build a relationship with those helping you out, and that's extremely true when it comes to this Atheltico location - all the staff, from my physical therapist, Mitch, to the few sessions I attended with Ryan, along with the amazing assistants - Maggie, Olivia, and Maria who helped me along the way - I always felt like friends with all of them while I was here. While they maintain professionalism, they also ensure to treat you not just as a patient, but as a friend, and it's clear that they truly care and want to see you progress in the journey. While nobody really "enjoys" going to PT, I'd say the treatment, services, and staff at this location made me truly enjoy being there and working towards my goals of being back to 100%. From someone who came in on crutches and a knee scooter, doing exercises like moving my foot back-and-forth or picking up marbles with my toes, I'm now running, jumping, playing tennis again, biking, etc. I was even able to take a full walking tour through Italian villages and cities with no problem thanks to this amazing staff at Athletico. While I'm hoping I never have to come back in here (as I'm never trying skiing again), if I do have PT needs or know anyone who does, I will always recommend Athletico Lakeview East. Thank you, Mitch, Ryan, Elise, Maria, Maggie, Olivia, and the rest of the amazing staff I worked with, and alongside of, at Athletico Lakeview East. I couldn't have asked for a better team to help me through this.

I have just completed over 65 physical therapy sessions in approximately 7 months…read more In February I sustained a severe injury which required the insertion of a titanium rod from above my knee to my hip. Following my release from the hospital I was required to go to a rehab facility for three weeks. After my release from the rehab facility, I had in home rehab for a month but I was still unable to walk without the assistance of a walker. In mid-March I contacted Athletico in East Lakeview because it was about one block from my home. They arranged to see me the following day. Justin was assigned to be my personal physical therapist. Given my relative discomfort and lack of progress for one and a half months, I was less than optimistic that I would ever be able to walk normally again. However, under Justin's supervision, I can now walk without the assistance of a walker. I don't even need a cane. At my age, this was no small feat. I found Justin to be very knowledgeable and motivating. There were many times when I thought I couldn't do any more, but he gave me encouragement to try even a bit more, without pushing me too hard. It has taken about seven months, but I am almost amazed with my progress. I wholeheartedly recommend Justin and the rest of the Athletico staff including the front desk & the assistants. Jo D

Im in court as of today about the failed professional care for her. I was told her insurance denied them I later found out the service they had my mom under was fraud because physical therapy was not possible for her condition she was bed confirm. My mom had brain damage from her dementia from a misdiagnosed of a serious seizure from a previous nursing facility. She was kicking her right leg and arm was out of control and left arm was locked along with counting out loud. I asked what the mat on the floor was for I ask was it for therapy the Doctor said no it was there in case she fail out the bed. They had her in a regular bed lowered to the floor instead of bed with railing to secure her. Food was brought in and sat at the side of her bed I just happen to be visiting I asked who was going to feed her the staff said I can. So if I wasn't there how was she eating. My mom told me she was cold I asked a staff at the desk for cover for her because there no cover on her bed the whole vist said would order it for her a hour passed still no cover came. The unprofessional social worker waited to the last minute to resubmit paper work to continue insurance but said he know it was going to get denied. I asked him what is the insurance paying for he couldn't even tell me he mad up a lie about having therapy done to her left hand when no therapy was being done at all. I was told by him that if still denied I was going to have to take my mom home at that time., I asked him how, he said they could put her in my back seat of my car or I would have to pay financial dept for ambulance service because insurance doesn't provide transportation to home. I ask him in the back of my car in her condition really? He said oh I forgot I asked him about home equipment there was no medical bed for her, he said he got to put the request in for home service but it can be awhile before I get that unless I try ti get home service myself which I tired but i was told I need a Dr request to do that...Wow the Social Worker was useless. So I visit the financial dept said they have ambulance company that does it for $300 and if she is still there after denial they would bill her personally by taking her check. This was a scam to get money from me. I then was told that was the only way.I told them no. Then the financial dept said he would bill me separate but not send to address on bill send it directly to him. My mom finally was released with no Home Medical Assistance from this facility..I had to get the Medical bed myself, the insurance did provide home transportation after all and I had to get my own home Dr for her...Please Stay away from this unprofessional place if you want your love ones to survive.

I have been sitting in the same soiled dressings since the first week I arrived. I am supposed to be allowed passes to go out but have not been given any or any confirmation as to when I will be allowed to go and pick up things I need hygiene, food etc. The food is awful and the only consistency is it will be cold and arrive late. Not all but a few nurses are awful l had a nurse last week call me a "slick little bastard" because I had a doctor appointment and she was asking me questions about the appointment time and I told her the nursing team usually does the scheduling. This is only the tip of the iceberg. I have no doubt if I was older and in worse health the neglect and indecency would probably kill me. Do not send your loved ones here. This place makes you feel more like a prisoner than a patient.

I told the nurse on shift I needed to be put back on the medication the nurse practitioner took me off of. I was not put back on that medication. Fortunately,I had that medication on me which lasted only two days before I was discharged. My blood pressure was high for those two days. I told the nurse on shift I have rights and that they can't tell me, because of their decision,I can't take my prescribed blood pressure medication. What the nurse practitioner needed to do was to contact my primary care physician to see if she agreed to take me off that medication. The nurse practitioner didn't do that. This was a wrong decision on the part of the nurse practitioner because my blood pressure toward the end of my stay was high. If a person stays 80 days they have robbed you blind:they have you sign paperwork that gives Lakeview the rite to automatically withdraw 90%of your SS check from your bank. The medical care,in my opinion is not worth 90% of your livelyhood. Thay should get a flat rate per diem, not 90% of your SS check. Secondly, they skimp on the food served. You get powdered eggs every day. The coffee is on the strongside. So if a patient doesn't use sugar, bitter coffee just isn't drinkable. The meat is processed:ham, pork and chicken. You will not get a real cut of red meat:beef or pork. Occasionally you will get a chicken leg. For 90% of your SS check,in my opinion, the long stay isn't worth it. My stay was for 32 days because I insisted I didn't need to stay: my oxygen levels were 95-97%. They can't hold you there if your oxygen levels are good enough to be released. They told me I had to have a residence to be released. So if one on SS wants to stay in a motel they insist on a residence. Then when I left on the 32nd day they wrote up a script for bedside assistance but I don't have to follow up on on that. Well,in my opinion,If I didn't have to follow up with bedside assistance, why write the recommendation? Does that make any sense to you? In recapping, the price for care for long term stay and the food served isn't worth 90% of your SS check! You will get physical rehabilitation for the short stay: less than 80 days. But for most elderly patients, they are stuck there for the long stay. In my opinion it's legal robbery, because of your signature which they require you to sign away 90% of your SS check for a residence there. I would advise the elderly to have their attorney write up a contract for his client stating that Lakeview only get a flat fee per diem. Why should the patient be robbed of most of his SS check? I have also read that Lakeview had a settlement against itself for $12.5 million. Now the cheap food and the paper signing away of 90% of your SS check make sense: Lakeview intends to recover their loss at the patients expense! Future residents BEWARE!

In fact, when my doctor brought up doing another round of PT this past August, I was dead set against it. He said he'd worked with Muscle and Joint, and said I should give them a try before ruling PT out. Reluctantly, I made an appointment, expecting it to be more of the same bad experiences. Imagine my surprise when I was dead wrong. A lot of the credit has to go to my INCREDIBLE physical therapist, Dr. Brandon St. Peters. I cannot sing his praises loudly enough. This may sound silly, but Brandon actually listens to his patients. It was obvious from the first session that Brandon cares about his patient's needs, and helping them make progress with their pain. This is incredibly important when you present with an unusual or rare case. A lot of the times you've been to so many other practitioners who have ignored you and your symptoms, offering no help for your pain. Feeling heard makes you feel like the pain isn't just in your head, and that can be a game changer. Brandon makes you feel that way day one. It's clear he also really knows his stuff, and almost every time, I leave the clinic feeling better than I did walking in. He even helped me (finally!) get the proper diagnosis, and a great pain management specialist to help me. I could go on and on, but seriously he's the best of the best in the field, and even makes sessions fun. That being said, the rest of the staff and clinic are also wonderful. I did two sessions with the owner, Matt Johnson, while Brandon was out of town. He also really knows his stuff. The assistants they have there are absolutely wonderful. One assistant I believe named Taylor (hopefully that's correct) is an absolutely joy every single week. She's definitely an asset to the clinic, and has a bright future ahead of her in PT. The front desk is always super helpful dealing with appointments, insurance, and such, which is no small task. Lastly, the clinic is nice and spacious, and always super clean. Easily the best facility I've been to. So, if you're in need of physical therapy, do not hesitate. RUN to Muscle and Joint. If you're so inclined, ask for Brandon. Just do me a favor. Leave some appointments for me!
