I…read morereached out to Premier North after finding them on Angie's List (or whatever they are calling themselves these days!) as I was experiencing an issue with moisture collecting where the walls meet the ceiling in several rooms of the house. I suspected that the soffit vents might be clogged but wanted an expert to check. The owner returned a call to me quickly and even came out same day to take a look. He provided a detailed estimate within days and we went back and forth on the actual work to be done. His crew was to seal the area near the soffits and reconnect some exhaust fans that weren't connected properly. The day of the work, the crew arrived and had no instructions as to what they were actually supposed to do. I had to find an old version of the quote in my email, print it out and provide it to them. There was no communication from the owner during or after the job. Fast-forward to the next cold stretch and the problem is back. I hired a home inspector to take a look at the attic and he confirmed that the job was not done well. The crew left a seal gun in the attic along with a container of the spray foam. The exhaust fans were not connected properly, either. I reached the owner and explained the situation to him. He was apologetic and promised to return a call to me to schedule a return visit. That has not happened and now when I call, I just get voicemail. Three messages later, still no return call. I am now trying to find a different contractor to do the job.

I saw an ad on TV for Healthy Home Insulation, left a message on a Sunday, they came out the next day! Before Erik left he gave me an estimate for attic and basement (Healthy Homes) as well the walls from (Cozy Walls Insulation.) They were out here the following week to complete the job! I have HORRIBLE allergies that can cause my eyes to swell shut to causing vertigo. I was concerned that the smell of foam spray would be an issue. Amy, Cozy Walls said they would come out try a wall see how it went. If it was ok, complete the job, if not, we would figure something out. We used Great Lakes Roofing for a minor roofing repair. Our mistake was that we did not get a…read morewritten estimate before the work was performed. We were told that the repair would require two workmen at $90/hour, which we were okay with since we wanted the work done quickly. The guys arrived on time and were polite and seemed to work quickly. All that was required was some caulking around the chimney flashing and the guys left for a total of about 30 minutes of actual time they were at our home. The bill came a couple weeks later at $525 ! The bill was not itemized, so we called for clarification. There was time for travel, okay, fine. There were materials such as gloves, caulk. Okay, makes sense, but still does not add up. "Oh and don't forget the $250 service charge." A service charge that was never mentioned until we questioned the bill. There are plenty of upfront and honest roofing contractors out there We will not be using Great Lakes again.

When I called to say they weren't here 7 hours and why would it take so long to caulk around 7 windows, they could not justify it, but wouldn't budge on the cost. I asked them to work with me, telling them I wanted to pay the bill at a reasonable rate, but they wouldn't do anything, even though they couldn't justify the cost. Stay away from this company. You will be sorry.
