The actual people who did the work especially electrical and irrigation were horrible. They turned off the water, with no communication and forgot 2x to turn it back on. The electrical work included an orange cord across the yard, not only an eye sore but a tripping hazard. ( We had to fix ourselves) A bush was removed on accident, I understand it happens but they replaced it with 2 trees in 2 planters that are 2 different colors. It is an eye sore. The irrigation was done wrong, we had to hire someone to come fix it. We paid a good amount and for the price I would have thought it would have been done right. A few weeks after it was completed the water company came and had to rip up the new landscape because they covered it. When I reached out to the project manager, Kirby....he left me on read. I feel like they got our last payment and now dont stand behind the work. Be careful if you hire them.

There are 3 big projects for which we contracted with Zarco Landscaping, because they continually performed above and beyond on the work. The first project was for a room that would flood when it rains. The team at Zarco quickly diagnosed the problem as poor gutter placement and cracks in concrete on the floor above, and they worked rapidly to connect a new sewer system and rebuild our concrete walkway. There has been no more flooding. The second project was to improve the terrain and usability of our backyard, which is on a hill that was very difficult to navigate. The Zarco team completely transformed the area, building stone steps and leveling the land with premium soil, mulch, and stone. Please see the attached photos (we wish we had before pictures, but it was all dirt and invasive plants before on a steep incline)! Lastly, our third project had to be done rapidly after the recent storms in the bay area. We needed three very large and dead trees removed that were at risk of falling on our house or the street. The Zarco team came the next day to remove all of the trees. Overall, the Zarco team has always delivered amazing service and treated us with respect. Gerardo and Vista Landscaping are Exceptional…read more Over the end of last year, I've worked with Gerardo and Team at Vista to plan and then execute a massive backyard remodel. The scope was extensive: a large, engineered two-tier retraining wall, large French drain all around my backward, new patio, backyard fence, fire pit with guilt in gas line, front year leveling, front yard fence (curved), new sprinkle system, all new planting including several trees and integrated lighting. The work was intense, requiring months of jack hammering and meticulous concrete work. During the time, Gerardo was a true professional. He sought feedback and guidance when useful, but also of course took care of everything as issues came up including handling countless very detailed and tedious permit reviews. We did not proceed with developing plans, but the verbal estimate to get the work done was going to be $70-100K. We will be spending $30-50K with a different landscaper. So my perception is that Terra Rubina is very expensive. For the $250 bill, I tried to pay by Venmo. Venmo required last 4 digits of phone number in order to process the payment. I emailed asking for the last 4 digits of their phone number and did not hear back, so I didn't pay. Two weeks later I received a very rude and confrontational email hounding me for payment and threatening a late fee. I have seen back yards done by Terra Rubina. They are beautiful. If you want high quality work, and don't mind being bullied, and you're willing to pay a steep price, then maybe Terra Rubina is for you. They're not for me.

I reached out to about 10 contractors for quotes and Juan's bid was in the mid-range. From the first walk-through, he was knowledgable and asked questions to help me understand what my options are. Unlike some others, he was never pushy and that made me feel more comfortable about working together going forward. He estimated that the entire project (leveling the backyard, building a short wall, French drain, and adding gravel) would take 2 weeks and they finished ahead of schedule. I am so happy to finally have a usable, outdoor space! If I ever want to do more with the hill, I will use KB Landscape for sure.

The crew installed all the plants, decomposed granite, and irrigation perfectly. Our architect also commented that she really liked the crew and that Juan in particular was very knowledgeable. Not to mention Juan is just a really nice guy and was open to the small changes we had to make as we were doing installation. In total it took three weeks to complete the entire project. His crew was great and Juan also works with them, he doesn't just only project manage. He was here all day nearly every day with the crew. It's a small company but they do great work, pay attention to detail like grading, and clean up after themselves every day. They did such a good job, after he finished we asked him to help redo a fence later as well and also continue to come biweekly to maintain the yard.
