Walk around the corner past the Aldi's and pick up a bus to Birmingham. Breakfast can be added at £8.25. Kids are free, so this is a bargain if you're traveling with kids. I have special diet needs, so I generally walk across to the Sainsburys. I had to buy soap, kleenex, because the room has nothing extra. They have provided liquid soap. A couple of tips 1. If you prefer a bathtub, ask for it when you book the room. I was told that half the rooms still have them. 2. The sign on the shower wall about taking care when the floor is wet should be taken very very seriously. It's like a skating rink. Stop at Poundland and buy a mat for your stay and remain safe. 3. At the time I booked, the website was a bit hinky. It would change the dates when I got to the final confirmation page. And it dropped part of my name. I booked and then modified the reservation to change the dates. I paid on average about £65 for the room.

Stayed here in a £35 'family' room for 2 nights, and its a real mixed bag…read more I 'booked' the room months ago, and specifically asked for a travel cot, and if me, the wife, and our 3 young children could stay in one room. The guy on the phone was very helpful, booked me the room and the cot, and told me we wouldn't be breaking any health & safety rules. After a very long drive (100 miles) and arriving at 2230 on a Friday night, the local area is pretty intimidating, and its not at all obvious where the entrance is (one door tucked away round the corner next to a Subway shop), we checked it to be told that there was no record of needing the cot, when I mentioned that I'd booked it months ago and wasn't very happy, the receptionist delivered the age old mantra of "its company policy, we don't allow more than 4 per room" So there I was, 3 tired and upset kids, 100 mile journey, I may as well have just turned up on the off chance they had a room. Luckily I'd had the foresight to bring our own travel cot, and the 4 per room comment was plainly rubbish as they let us stay anyway. The stairwell and lifts to and from the street to the rooms absolutely stunk of Subway sarnies, but I suppose you get what you pay for in the end.

Lovely Breakfast. cosy Breakfast room allowing all the guests to chat... How nice.. Usually people ignore me. Fantastic Free Wi-Fi. Toiletories. Towels. The rooms were equipped with trouser press. Hair Dryer. Tea / Coffee. Nice Cookies... Fantastic ... I have a pet hate for non en-suite hotel rooms. The room in the Central Guest house I was in was not En-suite, I had to go across the hallway to a shower room, which at first made me squirm. It was exclusive to me. Which was a relief. The point I want to make is. Don't be put off by a non en-suite room. Its not as bad as it seems. It was a pain to run across the hallway in the middle of the night, desperate for No1 & No2. Just made it.. Reminded me of a movie I watched with Jodi Foster. Having to lock one room to run across the hallway to open the other. (Yes I had to lock my room and unlock the loo every time). (In the end I just left the loo door open.) It was exciting and scary..... I was worried in case I bumped into anyone lurking in the shadows. Sadly no lurkers ! ( What a shame. I was kind of looking forward to some midnight Mania). On the whole. I enjoyed my stay and would do it again. Recommend this Guest House. The owners are a great source of conversation, Very friendly. Awful bed (for me, I like them softer), but loads of room and very very clean…read more This place is genuinely an apartment and not an efficiency. There is a separate kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom and hallway closet. The kitchen hosts a full ability to cook with microwave, cooker, oven, refrigerator and freezer. A small washer dryer combo is in the kitchen as well. Dishes, cups, utensils for 4 folks are provided. I stayed here so I could shop at the open market and visit tourist spots during the day and easily visit family in the evening in Solihull. The central bus station is down the street, so it's convenient to grab the coach at Heathrow to here and if booked well enough ahead, it only costs about $10 for a 2 hour bus ride. Two train lines are within walking distance, easily within 3 minutes. Major shopping stores are Selfridges (visible from your room), Marks and Spencers, and Debenhams. If you do a lot of sewing, a visit to the Silk City store is a must. A lot of the street noise is dampened when you close your windows and doors in the evening. The rest can be eliminated with decent ear plugs. There are warehouses nearby where work begins at 5 am. Wi-fi was included but it wasn't always working.

The Chinese quarter, Arcadian and Hippodrome are a short walk away so you could have decent nightlife too-BUT there is loads of noise on the street, so you may want to stay out all night yourself. Telford, apparently is famous for the Iron Bridge which i did not see…read more This hotel was ok, was here for ten days with work and I have stayed in worse but i have stayed in better. The hotel has a golf course and spa attached, hence the name i guess!! I'll start with my bedroom which was cozy, i've had smaller and most certainly bigger but as hotel rooms go it was ok. The bed was a question mark for me as it was two singles hooked together but there was a definite dip were they joined. The decor was ok I think they may have received a recent coat of paint. The room was fitted out with tea and coffee making facilities, TV with some free to air satellite stations. The free wifi was ok but others said they struggled to get it in their rooms. Its an older building and as such there are many creaking floor boards, unfortunately some near my room door!! And speaking of doors when they close you certainly know about it!! The food in the main restaurant was ok, the one night we had access to it. From that day forward the food was a mixture of taste and no taste no happy medium but then again they were cooking on mass for my group. The hotel staff were friendly and helpfup nothing was to much of a problem. The conference side of things were good, the room we had was a little cozy but did have natural light which is always a bonus. The wifi in our room was very good in terms of reliability, download and upload speeds. It seemed to be a popular hotel with other groups popping up during the course of my stay using different areas for their meetings. There were always many people wandering around in bath robes so I assume that its Spa services are popular. The golf course was always busy, good weather helped i guess!! The grounds of the hotel were very nice always a spot available if you just wanted to chill out. Lots of people I came into contact with were there to relax in the spa or play a round of golf. There were many families there with young children, it was half term after all. They have a swimming pool and a gym which is open 24hours a day, but it was a cozy space.

I had the quail egg starter, about £5 The main was a sirloin steak, beautifully cooked, but I thought over priced at £19 A small glass of Chenin Blanc, followed by a small glass of Shiraz, then a large glass of Shiraz. All the wines were fine. Total cost £38. There was no table check, and ask if there was one normally, and was told it should be after 5 minutes. Angela apologised for this not happening. I found all of the staff very good and charming. I might think twice about eating there again given the price, but if I was visiting the International Centre (as I was this time), I'd stay here rather than The International Hotel. I was, however, able to charge it to my room in the other hotel, which I though was handy.

That being said, it does have a homey feel that makes it really relaxing. We were greeted warmly by the staff and the other guests who were at the bar. The staff helped us find a local place to eat. We had a family room which consisted of 3 single beds. It had a TV and tea service station. The bathroom was clean and modern. We had breakfast the next morning and our eggs were cooked to order. This place had such a nice friendly feel for a good price that I was almost disappointed to leave!

The rooms were clean but basic, if you just need a bed for the night then you could do worse and at least the train station is right across the way and there is a bar and restaurant attached (The Euston Way). The rates are pretty good even last minute so its a good option if you are stuck for somewhere. Staff seem very helpful and apparently the rooms are quite quiet until the buses start early in the mornings.

It's a budget hotel, it's a budget option, it's not expensive…read more I have to remind myself of this when passing judgement because I'm a bit of a hotel snob, and will usually pay for that extra level of luxury. I booked this place because A it was a 7 minute walk from the o2 academy where I got to spend the majority of my Thursday and B it was very cheap for its location. The lobby actually looks really smart of a budget hotel to be honest by that quickly departs when you get to the rooms. They are basic, your expecting that though and they are for the most part clean. The toilet is in its own little room, there is a capsule shower and the sink is in the main room somewhere between these. You have a tv, I did not check the functionality of this. To be honest I tried to spend as little time in the room as possible so it's a great way to force yourself outside. There are no complimentary toiletries, we did have a bar of soap and some towels though. Hairdryers are available from the reception area and they do seem more trusting than the Bloc Hotel who seemed to think I was out to steal it. I'll have you know I steal hotel glassware not hair dyers! I would stay here again for the o2 academy, it's so nearby and about 10-15 minute walk from new street station. I could only manage one night here though to be honest. The best thing? I can see Quarter Horse Coffee from my rooms window :3

IBIS Budger. Does exactly what it says on the tin…read more Myself and 2 friends paid £70 for a room that sleeps 3 on Saturday night as ae were going out in Birmingham. The price was great, but it really is basic. There was a double bed with a single bunk on top. When we arrived we found the to be clean but very small. The beds were all unmade. The toilet was tiny, felt like it was a broom cupboard! There was a shower but we didn't use it, again it was tiny and also offered little privacy. It was very, very basic. I had to hire a hairdryer and pay a £10 deposit, also if you need shower gel etc you have to buy it at the reception. For the price it was okay and perfect for a quick stopover. My main qualm was how come the room was. It was so cold I couldn't sleep, so i'm marking it down a star. there appeared to be no form of heating in the room - the corridors were a lot warmer than the room itself! I don't know whether I'd use the budget hotel again, I'm personally happy to pay a little extra for a warm room to sleep in!
