I have had to change my positive review of this place which I don't enjoy doing but you are only as…read moregood as your last performance and I had to be honest. Despite it being warm and sunny outside, inside it was cold and dark, so not a great atmosphere. The waitress was pleasant but not exactly friendly, although she did her job well. We decided to have two starters and the salad bar instead of starters and a main. My starter of garlic mushrooms was delicious, but my fiancé's pea and ham soup was gritty and powdery. Then he had sizzling chilli prawns which he did enjoy although the amount of prawns was not that good for the price and there were too many chillies in it. I chose prawn cocktail. I've had it from there before and it was gorgeous. Oh how I miss those times. It was advertised as coming with a Marie rose sauce, not that difficult to make you would think. Well it clearly was for the chef on duty this afternoon. The prawns were small, tasteless and watery. No doubt out of the frozen section of Tesco. And then there was the sauce. I think it had been made with a LOT of creme fraiche and a minimal amount of anything else. It was vile. It was so vile that it was all that I could take not to vomit at the table. I sent it back, the first time I have ever sent food back in 29 years. I was asked if I wanted another or something different but declined as I had the worst taste in my mouth. I couldn't even manage the salad as that wasn't at its best and all I could taste was the sauce. To be fair they did not charges for the prawn cocktail but if a chef can't manage something so simple then perhaps he should log on to Jobcentre Plus perhaps he will find his calling there. There was also a lot of dust everywhere which does not exactly make you warm to a place. It is frustrating as after our last visit my fiancé emailed them to say how much we had enjoyed it. I have a feeling they won't want to read what I have to say. Disappointing to say the least.

No more waiting at the bar to be served, you are met at the door by the waiting staff and shown to a table (of your choice if it isn't busy), the salad bar is a new addition and has everything you expect including eggs, pickles, pasta, even waldorf salad. The service is always friendly and efficient and the food is 9.9 times out of 10 very good.

They offered us a complementary dinner voucher and we were more than happy to come back and stay again. The dinner we're having is excellent. A focus on home made ingredients and high quality ingredients makes for a delicious meal :) I can recommend the hand cut chips and burger ( from thick, lean cuts and served in a whole meal bun ). Breakfast is also highly acclaimed - having won 'the best breakfast in Britain award' multiple times. Worth stopping for on your journey over any services for the value and quality of food. Everything is freshly made and sourced locally wherever possible. From the free range eggs to the Stornoway Black Pudding all of the food was excellently prepared and presented. The cooked breakfast was tasty and delicious. My compliments to the chef. Highly recommended!
I stayed for one night on a recent visit. The hotel is a…read moremodern building on the M6 junction, next to the River Ribble. It has ample secure parking and a bar, restaurant and function rooms. Most of the guests seemed to be heading onwards on the motorway. The bar and restaurant are spacious, and the bar was busy most of the evening. My bedroom was also clean and very spacious, with a big and comfy bed. There are lawns sloping down to the river, with a decked terrace, which is very nice, although the view across the river is somewhat undermined by the roar of traffic on the nearby motorway (and the road bridges mar the view somewhat, too). The river is slow moving, so expect plenty of insect life. That was one of the main problem with my stay. It was very hot over 28C on my visit, and my room did not have air-conditioning. The window opening was limited by a safety catch, which meant it stayed hot, but still filled with insects, which I had to spend ten minutes disposing of (not really wanting to be feasted on by mosquitoes overnight). I tried to procure a fan, but room service wasn't responding. So I dressed and went down to reception, and then paged the night porter, who promised a fan but didn't deliver one. So I had a lousy night's sleep. On the upside, breakfast and daytime reception staff were lovely and very helpful, and the breakfast buffet was generous. Hot breakfasts are cooked to order. For my sticky and uncomfortable night, the hotel refunded part of the room-charge and the manager rang me a few days later and apologised as well. So, overall, I would happily stay again when it is cooler but maybe not in high summer, unless they install air-conditioning.

What can i say about this hotel, i had to stay here while i was expecting my relatives to come…read moreafter 2 days. This Hotel is a 5 star in my opinion, it contains not only luxurious, spacious rooms but their room service is quite fast and they are very up to date with the furniture and the decorations. The main thing that impressed me was their variety of the food they offer which is quite hard to resist and their price are a bit high although their quality is quite worth paying the money for. Their staff are quite well spoken and also very helpful indeed as i could not find my way at particular moment and they directed me which was quite polite. From outside the Hotel does look posh but it keeps its standard inside as well the bathroom are very well designed and their interior quite honestly fascinated me. The only thing i could say about this Hotel would be that its superb so anyone who wants to come here to Blackburn its good to pay a visit here.
