The approach of traditional cuisine, personal and friendly service, family values and atmosphere makes this one of the top five restaurants in West Yorkshire. And by far the best in Wakefield by a Tuscany mile The prices are pretty reasonable in the Evening's too. Just can't believe Rustico has not been reviewed up until now.... I have been many many times to this lovely Restaurant and the lunch time specials are not too be missed, most dishes are around a fiver. Fabulous service every time and such welcoming friendly Staff, I often dine alone at Lunch time and am never treated with disrespect, some places are not keen on lone diners I find. *****

This is a relatively new restaurant, but possibly the best in Wakefield. It's small but VERY popular and always busy so book in advance. It does get quite noisy and crowded but there's an extra room upstairs, so ask to be seated there if you'd rather be somewhere quieter. Food is fantastic and reasonably priced with big portions, and the service is great - they even throw in loads of little extras, like an appetizer plate of bread and olives, garlic bread and lemoncello!

Pizza Express is an italian chain in the UK, mainly specialising in pizzas. I called in here while…read morewith a friend who was working in Whitefield, with this being one of the few places to eat I could find which I knew would offer a gluten free choice for myself, having had some awful experiences at Pizza Express in the past, I came in not expecting anything too spectacular but I was pleasantly surprised with this branch, and I'd even go as far to say this branch sets the example which Pizza Express stores need to follow. One of my biggest problems with Pizza Express is the gluten free pizza base, I've ordered it on numerous occasions now and been disappointed with the quality, as it does come in frozen but I did quite enjoy my pizza from here. The service from the staff was okay, it was a little slow in getting my food however one person who impressed me the most was the chef - He was working on his own and even spoke to me as he was cooking, making sure he got his food right, he was telling me how long it would be, when he was putting food in and even shown my my pizza before he put it in as he wanted to make sure he had put the right amount of toppings on, having asked for less spinach and no olives, he also put extra cheese on which was nice, spread across the whole pizza and also made the egg quite well, it was a runny egg which was great on my Florentina. For my starter, I ordered the gluten free dough balls, which are normally my favourite part of Pizza Express, and for my main I of course ordered the Florentina Pizza, there was certain parts I didn't enjoy, perhaps where was a little bit more cooked than the rest or where the Milano cheese had gone, but overall my pizza was okay. This place also accepts Tastecards so you can get 2-4-1 on your food between Sunday and Thursday, however I was able to use a free main meal today which was given to me by Pizza Express to re-store my faith in the brand after a bad experience at a different store, which I must stress was not a payment to write a review, this was actually the second time I had the coupon having had an awful experience at the branch close to the Midland Hotel in Manchester, who just told me to "use it next time", so there is an on-going quality issue with Pizza Express especially with the Manchester branches (my home town), which I'm used too, which is therefore why I feel this branch sets a huge example for the rest in terms of quality and service, with the friendly, sociable chef also doing a fine job. I feel this place deserves a four star rating because it is one of the better places to eat in Wakefield and probably my favourite Pizza Express branch, improving waiting items and perhaps making the pizza closer to perfect and offering a better choice of gluten free sides than either coleslaw or salad would be a good idea in the future to consolidate the four star rating, at the moment I feel this branch is towards the lower end of the 4 star ladder.

Not even the olives while we waited. We had to wait for our drinks to arrive and then another 10 minutes before ordering food. Very bizzare. I'd maybe have understood had the restaurant been busy, but it was a steady lunchtime service.

I am aware that the quality of the food is not all that, but to be honest, when you've been shopping your socks off and there's a F&Bs over the way and you don't want to cook yourself but want something to fill you up that's not a McDonalds, with a bit of swing music playing in the background, then you just do it. I preferred this one to our local one in Kirkstall as it felt much brighter and the staff were speedier with taking orders and the like. Also we got seated straight away even though it was busy, meaning the drinks bill wasn't as hefty. I had the 2 course £9.95 menu (stuffed mushroom then philly cheese burger), and it was all right. The mushroom was flatter than a pancake but the goat's cheese on top was good quality and tasty. The burger was meaty and cheesy but I wished I'd ordered one with more salad and pickles and stuff in it - mine was a bit rich. The fries we delicious though - clearly freshly cooked. And the puddings at Frankie and Benny's are always my favourite - I tried the chocolate brownies and they were hot and soft and chocolatey and delish. Three courses and a drink each came to £38 - not the best food I've ever had but I left feeling full up and that was good enough.
