Dr. Preeti Mehta is the shit. Apparently nowadays, doctors don't like a challenge. My stomach was a mess for months -- I had my first doctor misdiagnose me (see Dr. Beckerman review) Then another doctor break up with me, basically told me my blood test results made no sense and told me there was nothing he can do. (He's lucky he doesn't have a page on yelp to review) Then Preeti Mehta to the rescue. Although my symptoms were bizarre, and nothing added up, she took initiative, put me on antibiotics immediately, and when that didn't go as planned, she gave me an endoscopy the SAME DAY as my appointment! She even gave me her cell phone number in case I had any emergencies. She is incredibly upbeat, super caring, and an all around genuine person. read more

On my initial visit I was kept waiting for 2 hours and ended up seeing a nurse practitioner because the doctor was unavailable. When I went in for my scheduled colonoscopy, I was kept waiting several hours before I was taken into the procedure room. I made a follow up appointment and was called that afternoon that the doctor was unavailable but she can call me later that day they would call to check me in to obtain my co-pay who charges a co-pay for a follow up to a procedure. I've never had to do that before they called me to check in 30 minutes after they said they would and the doctor would be calling me in 10 minutes. It is now an hour later and I still haven't received a call. I'm going into the office to collect my records and will never use this facility again. read more

Although the NP was very nice I never met with the doctor with whom I had made the appointment with.. no reason was given . The NP told me I needed an MRI and sonogram immediately (that day) which alarmed me. I got an appointment for an MRI a few days later. The NP called after the results were on the portal and told me I needed to meet with a surgeon. Still no discussion with the doctor. Her reasons for my needing to meet with the surgeon were short and not understood or explained to me . Overall a rushed, concerning appointment with no interaction with the doctor whatsoever. The billing dept sent me a bill for thousands of dollars because they used a lab outside of my network (which is shady and listed under mehtas name ) they also are hounding me for $50 when they confirmed the bill was supposed to be for $25. I went to the office and never was seen by Mehta who the appointment was with. It's literally run like a factory and I would NEVER recommend !!! read more

I would not recommend this place AT ALL. DO NOT COME HERE, I HAD THE WORSE EXPERIENCE with Dr. Preeti and her staff. I came in for a colonoscopy consultation for my mom and it was a complete waste of time. After taking the day off to bring my mom here for the consultation, we were HANDED OFF TO A PA and NEVER GOT TO SPEAK WITH DR. PREETI. Reading the reviews here, now I see that this has happened to others (they said this was a one time thing & she was busy with another patient). The consultation was basically me asking multiple questions. If I didn't have any questions the consultation would have been a lot shorter due to their lack of motivation and information shared. The consultation happened in a room in a basement, not the nicest place as it was cramped as well. My mom was fully on the table with her stomach out being examined by the PA while other PA's were KNOCKING & OPENED THE DOOR WHILE MY MOM WAS BEING EXAMINED. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL & A VIOLATION OF PRIVACY! I voiced my frustration on why would I not be able to see the doctor for the consultation and before the procedure and their resolution was a phone call later. A doctor who really cared, would have given us a time where we could meet for a proper consultation and not be handed over to a PA. What was the point of paying a $75 copay to meet with a PA. The PA also left and never said bye, then handed us over to an Office Assistant. WHY IS AN OFFICE ASSISTANT ANSWERING MY QUESTIONS, & THE PA IS GONE ? Later that day, the doctor called and apologized for not meeting with us because she knew this was highly disrespectful. At this point, the phone call was everything that should've happened in person at the time of the appointment. So yeah, a waste of time. -I lost a day off from work and $75, but it's ok because I learned if this is how I was treated for the consultation, this is not the right doctor for the procedure. We did not continue with making the appointment for the colonoscopy. I CAN NOT FATHOM HOW IT IS ACCEPTABLE TO SCHEDULE A PROCEDURE TO THIS MAGNITUDE WITHOUT MEETING THE DOCTOR PERFORMING IT BEFORE. This is a medical procedure, not something a phone call should suffice. Would you get a medical procedure done on your body based off a phone call ? Without meeting the doctor that would be performing on you ? I don't think so , & that is what will happen if you go to Dr. Preeti. For example : If you were getting a tattoo (something not as important as a medical procedure), even then you would meet your tattoo artist first to describe the process. Never got to meet her because the call center booked us with one of the PAs after specifically asking to be seen by Dr. Mehta. But after seeing these reviews, it's probably better off. The reception staff have no idea what is going on, I asked them to send my husband's records to our new doc with a HIPAA release form and they told us it was illegal and didn't want to release the forms. I went to see the results of CT scan and endoscopy. Waited for one and half hour, the PA discussed the reports. She gave me the copies of the reports. I wanted to talk to the doctor about the details of the test results. She stated the doctor was in an emergency. No staff members had told me earlier that the doctor was not in the office. This behavior is unacceptable and not professional. The quality of service I was provided was poor. read more

I met Dr Preeti last week and it was an absolute pleasure , I loved her instantly , she made me feel heard, knew exactly what to tell me to do and identified exactly what was going on... before I saw her I was being brushed off pretty much everytime I went to the hospital. Mind you it's been 3 times since 2021. She's actually directing me in the right direction and helping me get things done . We waited over a week for an appointment at the East Setauket NY office. We had a particular reason for the appointment. It was not just a check up. We drove about two hours round trip to and from the office. The office manager refused to allow us to see the doctor. I declined to sign one form that said (1) it was not legal for them to force me to sign and (2) they could not withhold service if I declined to sign. But they denied services anyway. I spoke with the manager who pressured me to sign the form that said it was illegal to force me to sign. I did not like being bullied. After I pointed out to her it was illegal and showed her the statement on her form she put it aside. The manager finally told me I would not see the doctor unless I signed the forms. I refused and she gave me the copies that I had already signed and out the door we went. I was stunned. An ill person with an appointment was denied medical care by a bully who never told the doctor what she did. More on that later. Here is some of what those forms say. Upon checking in we were given a whopping seven pages of legalese. Much of it was about money. Legal issues on page 2 included authorizing direct payments to the doctor from my insurance and that I am personally responsible for all charges wether or not paid by insurance. However I was told on the phone that they accept Medicare and I also have a wrap around policy to cover what Medicare doesn't. They participate in those programs and would not have had a problem getting paid for this appointment. They the gold standard of coverage. Page 3 required that I grant consent to use and disclose of my protected health care information for a long list of reasons including "various activities associated with payment and health care operations" and then they refer to their "notice of privacy practices" which I was not given a copy but asked agree with it. I could ask the staff for it but we did not get that far. It went on to say it includes all the ways they will use my private information (HIPA laws I think). It further said that I "have the right to a copy by contacting our privacy officer". A privacy officer? Another form states that I am appointing Perfect Patient Solutions as my authorized representative with six mentioned powers which included discussing and divulging "any of my personal health information". They had the right to use a photocopy of my signature to be used to process insurance claims. It also says that I was assigning Perfect Patient Solutions as my "Appointment as Legal Authorized Representative". This included "that I convey to My Authorized Representatives to the full extent under law" including naming me as plaintiff in litigation against my health care plan (which would be Medicare who is the Federal Government) and name me at a plaintiff in such action. I was going to sue the government as the third party (of strangers) saw fit? A lot of other items listed how they will use my name for all kinds of legalities which I would need a lawyer to interpret. Included was "Provisions of ERISA as provided in 29 C.F.R 2560.5031 (b) (4)" . They are total strangers who I did not choose. Why would a doctor's office require that I do this? No expiration date on any docs. These authorizations will stay in effect until I withdraw my documents in writing. Who would even think to sign something like this? On another page there was a "no show" fee schedule which does not make sense at all because you have to go there to learn about it . They also wanted me to authorize Digestive Disease Care as my agent to file appeals and initiate a complaint for any reason with my health care carrier on my behalf. It also says if my policy prohibits direct payment that I instruct and direct my insurance carrier to make out the check to me but mail it to Digestive Disease Care PC. What does that mean? That they will sign my name and cash the check? What kind of practice has a policy that is more focused on getting paid than the patients health? They sent a sick patient home without seeing the doctor even though we had an appointment. And now I must begin a search for a doctor to treat a medical problem and do so quickly, the clock is ticking. For those who sign medical forms without reading, I suggest you think twice next time. PS The office just notified me tonight the manager never told anyone that she refused to let us in & called us a no show. I asked to speak with the doctor and was told she will tell the manager and when I questioned that she said she would leave a message but cannot tell me if I will get a call back. read more

Amazing does not describe Dr. Mehta appropriately. Not only Dr. Mehta but the entire staff. Never have I encountered such efficiency, professionalism, positive, caring, and knowledgeable professionals. Dr. Mehta is well deserved of every positive comment. Can't say enough good things about Dr. Mehta and her staff. From reception to nurses to doctors, everyone seemed genuinely concerned for me as a patient. Dr.Mehta and her nurse both listened to me intently and sympathetically, they were really absorbing and analyzing everything I was saying before coming up with suggestions and solutions. Excellent bedside manner, wonderful people who obviously love what they do and genuinely want to improve the health of their clients instead of just collecting money. She even gave me her cell number and said I can call anytime night or day to ask questions even though she would be away on vacation with her family Incase i wasn't feeling well again. She is so nice and made my daughter feel comfortable. Staff was pleasant, convenient and parking.

I had an emergency and no gastroenterologist. Dr Preeti fit me in but unlike most doctors who fit you in, that didn't mean she rushed my appointment or made me wait long. She genuinely cares for the patient as a person rather that a paycheck. She's a rare find and makes unpleasant issues much more pleasant. I HIGHLY recommend her!!! read more

She is a terrible doctor with no bedside etiquette. Her office had me scheduled for an appointment at 1:45, I arrive and was told I have to wait two hours because she is having an "emergency" procedure. She was doing a colonoscopy. I was told to go see her consultant, why would I see her consultant when I specifically made the appointment to see her? After waiting an hour and a half doctor Mehta finally came in and immediately says "Hurry and tell me what's going on, I have a flight to catch at JFK!" I quickly told her what is going on, she didn't make any eye contact, didn't even sit down to properly talk to me. Instead she left the room and said "I will be back in two minutes with your prescription." Ten minutes later her assistant walks in and says doctor Mehta has left already. I am very upset today, there is a clear lack of compassion and empathy, two crucial traits for an actual physician. Doctor Mehta does not exhibit either of those and I hope people see this and stay away. read more
