1-Star Review - Precision Stair Company I truly wish I didn't have to write this review, but after a ton of patience and based on the pictures we will have to spend thousands of dollars out-of-pocket to correct Precision Stair Company's work, other homeowners deserve to know the truth. While the wood treads and risers themselves are beautiful (the one positive), literally everything else about this project was a disaster and left in an unprofessional, incomplete state: * Exposed concrete and large sections of missing trim * Rough, uneven drywall cuts with unfinished edges everywhere * Multiple gaps around stringers and walls that were pointed out and never fixed * Significant damage to our freshly painted walls and paint overspray on floors and trim * Brand-new carpet ruined because no drop cloths, no protection whatsoever * Numerous areas left so incomplete that we had to hire a second contractor to finish and repair the staircase We were promised a good job but instead, the crew walked away leaving the job looking like a rough-in. Communication and accountability were just as bad. We repeatedly asked for issues to be corrected, and they argued and lacked accountability for damage they caused in the home. When we finally scheduled a final walk-through, the owner ignored my reply. Days later (after we had already said the job was unacceptable), he let himself into our home on a Friday and Saturday without permission and recorded video inside our private residence, claiming it was for "legal purposes." This was done without our knowledge or consent, which is not only highly unprofessional but a serious invasion of privacy (any legitimate attorney would have told him that). In the end, his unprofessional and aggressive behavior turned what should have been an exciting upgrade into a stressful, expensive nightmare. We are now out additional dollars to make the staircase safe and presentable so we can finally move into our own home. If you're considering Precision Stair Company, please think twice. Beautiful wood does not make up for shoddy installation, zero cleanup or protection, refusal to fix obvious defects, and behavior that made us feel unsafe in our own house. read more

A shame that a rating of 5 is as high as I can score my experience, working with the great team at Precision Stair Co. From owner, Mr Farias, to Sales, Jose, Cust Svc Rep Yolanda, the brothers, Raymond & Jose (Demo and Construct) and Tony, (painter/stain finisher) my project was completed, start to finish, in two days. My first impression was, it looks like they haven't done anything! Because the job fit seamlessly and was a close mirror image to my stairs, balusters and railings found in two other locations in my house. Will try to share before and after pictures. Handrails are not safe and do not meet Houston building code. We hired Precision stair co to install new handrails. In the contract we clearly defined "all work to meet applicable building codes, incl all handrails required by code". Unfortunately, the handrail installed by precision stair co doesn't meet code. Inspector noted: "handrails not installed by code". I talked in detail with the inspector and in his opinion, it can't stay this way as it is not safe. We talked many times to Manuel from precision stair co to get this resolved. He said we will need to pay him extra if we want the deficiencies resolved. His word to my request is "I will not take responsibility for not being able to anticipate what an inspector is or isn't going to cite" which we find disrespectful to our Houston city inspectors as they are just trying to do the right thing. Also, we had a customer nearly fall in the last open house, she commented "these handrails are weird". We will find a new contractor and take legal action. read more

Great company, great work. Very professional and very quick. We were very pleased with this company and highly recommend them.

I bought a house and wanted my old school railings and balusters swapped out with a more modern design. They came out to measure and got me a quote pretty quickly. It was expensive in my opinion, but in line with a quote from a competitor. The main reason for 4 stars is the lack of clarity on what I was getting. I had to ask for details about the materials they were using because the quote wasn't very clear (maybe it would make more sense if you're a knowledgable contractor). The sales rep sent me photos of examples that helped a lot, but I wish this was provided upfront with the quote. The actual install went great and the workers were friendly. Their workmanship is really good which is the most important thing. I'm very satisfied and recommend this company. read more

Mixed experience with the company. We had a small home project and during the day of the project it was discovered the scope of the work was smaller than initially detailed by the estimator. We were told we could do the smaller scope for the same price (because we had to meet the company minimum that wasn't detailed out anywhere) or we could pay for what was on the quote plus what actually needed to be complete so it ended up costing more than the initial quote. We were also told there was no flexibility. With that experience aside the crew that does the work was on time, courteous and very knowledgeable. They did a great job and it is quality work. If you are willing to navigate the front office then overall you will get a quality project. We however will not be using them for future corporate capital projects or recommend them for future home projects based on the experience with the front office. read more

Called Precision Stair company to have someone come out and give me a estimate and they were right on time. After that I was told to get a my estimate in two days. while that came and gone (5 days now). I called several times could not get a answer, l left messages to call me back with my estimate never received a call back finally got in touch with the receptionist to find out if my estimate was ready never received a call back. I look at it this way, maybe this is the best outcome cause after reading some of these reviews maybe the probably would've been to pricey or done a terrible job. read more

Mr. Farias the owner was very pleasant to work with, professional and friendly. I changed out my railing and balusters and the crew got the work done in 2 days. I was anticipating 5. The price was reasonable compared to other quotes I received. Overall I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to remodel their stairs. read more

Pathetic service. Had Manuel Farias come out to do an estimate, and I informed him that I was dealing with one company and they provided terrible service, didn't follow up on promise date, and that was why I called them. Needless to say, promised a quote by Friday November 06, 2020 and I still haven't even heard back from them and today is November 11, 2020. If you didn't want the job because its to small, or to far, or whatever the reason, just call and say "no bid". Its that simple. But because you didn't, you now have someone writing a bad review. TERRIBLE! Do yourself a favor and don't book them! Yolanda is the lady who answers the phone and she is incredibly rude and lacks customer service. She sent her contractor to our home without the correct materials and then tells my husband she is gonna charge him for his travel. They aren't doing business correctly and we will report them to the BBB as well as everywhere else so NO ONE goes through what we go through. They even took $780 of our money! Oh and ladies be careful with this lady. She told my husband to "control your wife". Wow. read more

I called Precision Stair Co. over to my house for an estimate of how much it will cost to remodel our staircase and railings. He gave me an estimate of $10,000. That seemed like way too much so I contacted another contractor from another company who also came over to my house and gave an estimate.... he gave me an estimate of only $4,000 to do the EXACT same thing I told Precision Stair Co. I wanted done. Basically, I want to warn people that you may be able to find much better prices to have the same exact design done to your staircase. This company is overpriced. read more

This company did a wonderful job on our staircase. They did everything we asked and it looks absolutely gorgeous. It is now the crowning jewel of our rent house which we are now putting up for sale. They will work with you and your schedule as well as what you want color and style and even if you want to provide some of the material. I would definitely recommend this company! read more
