I don't usually write reviews but this guy Richard has got me so pissed off I felt it necessary to warn the community about this crook. My entire family has been taking their vehicles to Precision Motorworks for about a decade now, but this last occurrence has made us cut ties and seek out another mechanic. This past June I bought a used Ford van locally, trusting that Richard had provided maintenance on it for the 3 year prior, under the sellers ownership. It had a lot of rust but given that we live in Vermont that is to be expected. We repaired the visible rust ourselves around the running boards and planned to have the undercoat sprayed as well. In addition our other mode of transportation was a 12 year old Toyota in which the frame was so rusted it would not be able to pass another inspection. Richard knew this and still went ahead with a $400 muffler replacement if effort to squeeze as much money out of us a possible. When I took the van in to see about the undercoat and inspection he looked at it for literally 5 minutes only to tell me it was uninspectable. Keeping in mind he was familiar with the condition of the vehicle for several years and knew I had purchased it back in June it being October currently. The DMV has been running extra slow do to the pandemic. Within the 4 months I was waiting on registration both of my parents had several conversations with him about the rust and he did not have the Courtesy to share his concerns about it being uninspectable before I spent $300 for registration. On top of it all while waiting in the lobby for inspection I clearly overhead him or one of his staff say "well that's what you get for buying a $2000 van." This felt like a slap in the face as he was aware of the issue for years now and when confronted by my hearing of this comment he told my own mother that I was a liar and no such comment was made. To add insult to injury when he came to tell me he could not inspect the vehicle he had a smirk on his face that I could see because he refused to wear a mask even though prompted to do so by his own secretary and a whole box of them sitting on the desk not 1 foot away from him, and a sign on the door requiring all customers to wear one. Now we have 2 uninspectable vehicles sitting in the driveway all to what seems to be Richards own personal amusement. Now I have to figure out how to get to work at my position as night custodian at an elementary school where I'm considered an essential worker in keeping the building disinfected to prevent community spears of covid 19. So if you want to give your hard earned money to this Shister and crook and potentially contract and spread covid to your loved ones, by all means take your business to Richard. This man takes advantage of ailing and vulnerable members of his own community. He will not be receiving another dime from my family and I strongly recommend you to take your business elsewhere. read more
