Who in their right mind thinks that they can command a 2 yr old to sit still while a stranger sticks a sharp scaler into his mouth for prolonged periods?? I didn't know any better at the time and thought it was normal for dental cleanings to last only 5 min, coughed up approximately $265 each time (without insurance and was lied to about a free visit) and left the office each time while my son still had a mouthful of dirty, grimy teeth. My current pediatric dentist recommended an electric toothbrush that took care of all that grime without the need of sharp instruments and invasive scraping. Furthermore, we now have hygienists who patiently explain the procedures to each kid and sing to them as they "tickled" each tooth with a polisher.
