I've had both of my babies, Rosko & Sissy, cremated here.. about 2 years apart. The staff is always…read moreso friendly, helpful, and courteous. Both times, my pups were handled with care and love. If I could give even the smallest suggestion... it would be to let people fill out their own intake form or even just tell customers about ALL of the memorial options you offer. Had I been offered or even known about the ink nose print & paw print option, I would've LOVED to do that with both of my babies but was unaware that was offered here. Unfortunately, I didn't see that until I had already picked up my sweet boy & was reviewing the paperwork. Other than that, both of my experiences, even through the absolute heartbreak have been overwhelming positive!

So, here is my detailed recall of how VICKY treated us that day. I've attached screenshots of my complete experience with Serenity. 2/3/25 Monday Final Viewing The most ABHORRENT experience one could EVER imagine. I had invited close family and friends to say goodbye like any human version of this event. My best friend and her daughter show up extra early at 3:30pm. They waited in the car until her daughter had to use the restroom inside. They used it and immediately went back into the car to wait. Just before 4pm, Vicky AGGRESSIVELY taps (borderline banging) on their driver window to ask my best friend if she's the owner. My best friend was not blaring loud music and her windows were all cracked so the banging on the window was absolutely UNNECESSARY. But to answer her question, my best friend replies with "No, I'm her best friend here for Baloo." Vicky then THREATENS my best friend that if I wasn't here at 4pm, then I wouldn't get the chance to say goodbye and that I was the ONLY person allowed inside to say goodbye. At this point, my best friend pulls my location up, tracking me to SHOW her that I'm literally at the traffic light at Yale/Admiral. Thankfully, Yale traffic allowed me to pull into the parking lot the SECOND it hits 4pm. As soon as I jump out of my car, everyone is already walking towards the Chapel where my best friend informed me that Vicky is allowing ONLY me to say goodbye. Vicky unlocks the Chapel door and stands with her back against the wall and the door literally no more than 6 inches to her left, if not less! Baloo on their stretcher, blanket over his body, head on the pillow with BLOODY FLUID leaked from his nose and all over the pillow, and again LITERALLY 4 FEET INFRONT OF VICKY. So I walk in and immediately dart to Baloo with Vicky breathing down my back no more than 2ft directly behind me at this point. When I say I literally spent ONLY 15 seconds with him, I MEAN IT!!!!!!! So after being COERCED to make haste with my final goodbye, I turn to Vicky to BEG her to let my best friend and her daughter say their goodbyes. Her reaction was shocking! Vicky AUDIBLY SIGHED at me as if this whole ordeal was an inconvenience to her working at a human and pet cremation business. Luckily, her transitions shielded her eyes because I swear I felt her eyes roll with her loud EXASPERATED SIGH. After sighing, she said with pure annoyance "If they hurry". Vicky, you're lucky I was still grieving and completely focused on Baloo. So, I told my best friend and daughter as I walked back through the door that they can say goodbye "if you hurry" in shock and only able to repeat what Vicky said. So before it had even hit 4:02pm, my best friend and her daughter had walked out and Vicky IMMEDIATELY locked the Chapel door, said nothing, and quickly walked back to the office as my sister walked up to us. TWO MINUTES. ALL VICKY GAVE US WAS TWO MINUTES. AND EVEN THEN, NO PERSONAL SPACE. So my best friend, her daughter, my sister and I stand right outside the transparent Chapel door. Reminiscing the departed as one would normally do at a human version of a final viewing BUT RIGHT OUTSIDE and discussing how baffling UNPROFESSIONAL Vicky was. We stand outside the Chapel door for 15 minutes. During that time, NO ONE went into the Chapel, no movement was made in it, and Baloo was never even touched within those 15 minutes. SO WHY WERE WE RUSHED, VICKY?! JUST WHY??? Eventually, I went inside to ask for her name. The other lady working informed me. I return to my little support group outside and a few minutes later, Vicky comes out to ask "Is everything all right? Did you need anything?" as if AGAIN to RUSH us out the parking lot!!!! After a few more minutes of trying to get the bad taste of Vicky's treatment out of our mouths, we all finally decided to leave. Thanks for having Baloo DISTASTEFULLY displayed so we can remember him BLEEDING OUT! PET OWNERS AVOID VICKY!

My only concern is that we didn't have to show proof of vaccinations - while the dogs don't necessarily interact, there are communal spaces and we have a pup at home who is a little more vulnerable. I brought my dog in for grooming around noon on Sunday, May 9th, 2021 for the first time to this facility on South Peoria. The shift manager, Michelle, sold me on the deshedding package to assist my dog in transitioning with the spring season. When I picked up my dog later that afternoon, she wasn't acting normal and unfortunately the damage was not immediate evident through her thick fur. When we returned home, she spent the rest of the day mostly hiding under my bed. The next day she also spent hiding and did not want to eat her food. This behavior continued through Tuesday night when I tried to pet her along her back and she yelped really loud as if in serious pain. I took her to our regular vet, and they confirmed the touch sensitivity, when she tried to touch my dog along her back, she yelped very loudly again in serious pain. My vet prescribed a pain medication and anti-inflammatory to treat the sensitive area. Two days later, after she had time to heal and allowed me to pet her again, upon closer inspection I could really see the dried blood and scabbing from the cuts she received by the groomer using a furminator brush on my dog. I immediately set another appointment with my vet to inspect the wounds. Our vet prescribed additional medication, an antibiotic, to help the wounds heal and prevent infection. I left the veterinary office and went straight to this facility on South Peoria to show them what had been done to my dog and ensure this did not happen again. When I arrived and asked to speak to a manager, Michelle, who said she was the shift manager, asked what happened and when I explained the situation, she confirmed it must have been Elizabeth who groomed my dog on Sunday. During our conversation, Michelle said 'yeah I can see the scabs and it looks like dried blood' and that the trauma may have occurred due to the 'sharp teeth on the furminator brush'. Another young male groomer who had been listening to the conversation agreed and said, 'yeah you have to be really careful with the furminator, I cut myself on it all the time'. Michelle offered to call her manager, Cheryl and disappeared into the backroom to take the call. I asked for a direct phone number or email to the facility manager but Michelle refused and said she could only take my information but was not sure when Cheryl would be able to call me. When I pressed again for direct contact information, she said she could only offer this general email 'contact@sloppydogwash.com' but that Cheryl would receive that email directly. Not only did I pay $78, including tip for the service, but I have also now paid $220.18 to the vet for examination and medications. The manager and owners have yet to respond to my email regarding the trauma my dog has endured. I emailed again several days later including additional photos of the healing including additional hair loss down to her skin. Their lack of response indicates to me that they have little interest or concern in the welfare of their customer's pets and it's no wonder your employees lack the proper training to conduct the services they offer without causing harm. I have reported this incident to the Better Business Bureau in hopes my complaint will be taken seriously and no one else's pet will be harmed. If a resolution is not able to be made with them I will be taking this issue to small claims court.
