Get the Faa in there asap Mechanic note:…read moreEnsuring that the pitot tube is not blocked is good practice year-round, but warm weather brings out a creature that has a great affinity for the pitot tube. The mud dauber wasp loves airplanes. Airplanes have small openings that are perfect for building nests and laying eggs. That includes pitot tubes and fuel vents, the latter of which can cause engine power loss due to fuel starvation if a vent is plugged. Smoke due to 12v gauge installed in a 24v airplane.

A great club to get started in!…read more I was a part of this club as a regular operator of the aircraft. I enjoyed the members and the aircraft very much. I would regularly take the aircraft on cross countries and visit family or have fun and find new food. My particular favorite aircraft being the piper arrow and taking it to New Orleans for beignets. The aircraft are well maintained for their age and the A&Ps working on them work tirelessly to keep them flying and safe. The club would regularly host Thursday night working parties where they would buy pizza and invite members to come out and assist with the preventive maintenance work being performed on the aircraft. The A&Ps were a wealth of knowledge to ask questions to and learn from. This served as a great learning experience for many new pilots in the club to know what preventive maintenance is and what the FAA allows as preventive maintenance. This maintenance was of course heavily supervised and inspected before anything would be signed safe for flight. Unfortunately there were previous reviewers who had unsafe practices and routinely argued with the licensed A&Ps when they themselves were not one. They had brought a sour attitude to the club when they didn't get what they wanted but the club has many other great instructors now. This club is great for getting started or for already licensed pilots who want to build time with a plethora of types of aircraft. I'm unfortunately not a member of the club now because I moved away on orders, but if I were to return to Pensacola you could find me there on Thursday nights for sure!
