Love the super friendly owners. Great place to keep your boat with access to a private boat ramp.

All of the staff at Pelicans Perch were very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful during my stay at the boatyard. I had a bottom job, fiberglass repairs, and some mechanical repairs performed while my boat was at Pelicans Perch Marina. The next time you need a bottom job or any other repairs that require a haul-out, I highly recommend Pelicans Perch Marina! By the way, they make a great cup of coffee. Thanks, Ladies and gents. One gentleman was nice enough to drive me around looking for an outboard motor when I needed a ride, and the management helped work out a fair compromised rate when we realized we had to stay for longer than we planned as we did necessary work on the motor. Speaking of doing work on the boat, there are a number of very useful professional metal fabricators, a canvas shop, and expert diesel mechanics within a few minutes walk. Grocery stores are within a mile or so, as are Tippy's Tavern, West Marine (closing this month unfortunately), and theres another restaurant called The Oarhouse five minutes away by dinghy. Pelican's Perch was a GREAT find for us, and I very highly recommend it for anyone on a budget needing to do work on their boat.

Amazing! We took…read moreour boat to Destin for family trip. The place we rented had boat dock but no launch/ramp. We used Destin Marina to launch from. They have a nice and small convenience store for ice, drinks, and misc items. There is gas at the end of the dock. There are picnic tables in the back. This came in handy to keep the kids occupied while launching the boat. Normally the wife pulls the truck off ramp and parks the trailer. At this marina, there were plenty of workers/dock helpers that helped the husband with all this. Having these young men helper is as such a blessing and added bonus. We made sure to tip them. There is also an indoor restroom close by that is clean and spacious and made a great family changing room. You literally leave the marina and pull right onto Crab Island.

Deck hands took off my boat and docked it while I drove 100yrds to D&J Dry storage ( see my review for Susan at D&J) walked back to pier and deck hand fueled my boat, paid for fuel and $20 launch fee and was off. They have everything you need. Fuel, bait, beer, ice, snacks, water, drinks and plenty of place to dock. Current can be swift here so have dock lines tied to boat so they can take it off trailer by hand and never get out of your truck. Or show everyone your boating skills and back it off yourself bumping and scraping the pier and not tip the young guys trying to make a dollar for the summer. I do that enough back home in GA where we have an 8' tide swing not 8" like in Destin. When I am on vacation I treat myself like the rich guy I'm not and let servants do the work. Just makes life enjoyable. Beside no one will go home and tell their friends about the amazing boat handler they watched in Destin.

My husband is the primary boater and just recently turned 70 and has developed knee issues (total knee replacement surgery). We were no longer able to get in and out of the boat safely without falls so the time came to sell the boat. At this point our boat had been at Barber for 18 months with never a problem. We pulled the boat, told the marina we were cancelling and fully expected to get hit with at least one months charges for a "30 day notice". That is not what happened. They told us since we did not cancel at the one year mark the contract automatically rolled over for another year - we were never informed it was an auto renew. My bad for not catching that but still we gave them 30 days notice. They then told us we would have to pay the monthly rate for the time it had been in the boatel AND they kept our security deposit. When we asked them why we weren't getting at least our security deposit back we were told that was the policy since we did not cancel at the one year mark. That's crap. This place is just looking for ways to separate you from your money - go some place else. Lastly, there's nothing out there. No restaurants, no shops, no nothing. Just this really crappy marina.

She is supposed to be in Bay La Launch. The drive out here is pretty nice. Good thing for me (and you) is that there are other sights you can visit while out here. On your way in on Barber Parkway, you will pass Bamahenge, Dinosaurs In The Woods, Giant Sundial, and Knights In The Woods. Some are a little hidden, but if you know to look for them, you can find them! Everything is free to enjoy as long as you can find them! The marina is very well kept! On the way in, there is a large fountain at the roundabout. I was greeted by one of the resident cats! On the steps by the shop were a couple more cats. I loved petting the one and watching the other two take their cat nap! On the deck of the Ship Store, there are some intricately carved "Crab" chairs. All around the area are dolphins, pelican, and seahorses sculptures, too! I'm not sure if I'll make another special drive out here just to see the Lady In The Bay although I really would have liked to have seen her!
