I don't generally like to leave bad reviews and go down that road. I just move on, but was so…read moredisappointed and disheartened at my dog's first grooming after moving back to Iowa from The Groom Station in West Branch, Iowa and not hearing back from the owner in response to my disappointment, that I feel the need to do so, for whatever it is worth. Not with $20 let alone $126. Here are pics of her recent groom job yesterday. I asked that they keep her long and that didn't happen and instead even shaved her bald in sections and very uneven everywhere. She didn't even have any mats yet, but that was her excuse. The pics don't even do it justice. Update: The owner did reach out and refunded the visit. She did want me to bring my dog back in for her to see (which I initially took offense to as if she didn't believe the obvious pictures but that is not why according to her).By then it would not look exactly the same since I had to do something to try to even things out while it grew out and I didn't want to cause my dog undue stress since I was not going to have anyone else mess with her at this time.. Luckily, it will grow back and eventually be back to normal but would be hard for me to be okay with same shop even with different groomer at this point.

I don't give 5 star reviews very often, but this business deserves it!…read more Kalona Vet Center discontinued their on-site grooming with little-no notice last month, so I had to find my pom-chi a new one. I'm VERY protective of my furbabies, so no random one would do. Researching multiple ones, I decided to give Fur-iendly Grooming a try. They were so nice on the phone and had a cancelation the very next day that we grabbed up. They only had my little one for about two hours and had her looking AMAZING! Her previous groomer had her anywhere from 7-11 hours and never completed her legs or face. They also said my pup was sweet, gave kisses and wanted to be picked up during bath time - only thing she fought on was her nails. I'm definitely keeping Fur-iendly Grooming as my pets fur-care!

The best. Karin is wonderful. I stumbled upon her and her grooming business via the NextDoor app…read moreeven before we rescued our pup. We rescued our dog just a few days ago and he was in desperate need of a groom. Nervous, I told her ahead of time that I didn't know what to expect as far as his temperament. When we walked in for our appointment, Benji immediately wagged his tail and wanted Karin's attention. Obviously he could tell she's an animal lover. Based on his initial reaction to her I was a little more at ease. He did very well for his first visit! We made another appointment for a few weeks from now so that Benji can (at minimum) get another bath. Very nice grooming facility on Karin's property. You aren't going to see a bunch of dogs in cages, waiting their turn. I appreciate this a lot because our pup is still extremely nervous, especially loud noises and sudden movements. As a new client, Karin was able to get us scheduled very quickly. I did have flexibility in my schedule, so this helped. Automated text reminders and you can schedule services online. I highly recommend Fur-iendly, but more importantly, Benji does.

Unfortunately, after bringing him home, I found out he has roundworms something I was never informed of. I was specifically told he needed to see a vet before I could pick him up, which gave me confidence he was healthy. I paid a significant amount, and now I'm facing additional unexpected vet bills to treat a condition that should have been disclosed upfront. I also made it clear that I have another dog at home, so this situation could have easily impacted more than just one pet. To make matters worse, my vet mentioned that they've seen similar cases from this same place, which is very concerning. Another red flag was not being allowed to read the terms of agreement myself they were only read to me. Looking back, that doesn't sit right. I understand that puppies can come with health risks, including parasites like roundworms, but transparency is everything especially at this price point. I feel let down by the lack of honesty and communication. Again, I love my pup and wish the best for the other dogs there, but I would strongly encourage anyone considering purchasing from here to ask detailed questions, request full documentation, and be fully aware of potential risks before committing.

This was my first time using this grooming business. My first impression of the building was that…read moreit smelled strongly of urine. I noticed that they share the building with a dog rescue so I thought maybe the kennels just had not been cleaned yet that morning-but it still smelled like urine when I returned to pick my dog up. The receptionist pointed out a front paw that had been hit by the dremel-she described it like road rash. When I got home I noticed that a lot of hair had been missed in the grooming and was somewhat uneven-my dog is a miniature poodle-and that her ears were uneven and shorter than requested. On further examination of her paws, it was actually a back paw that had been injured and was covered in a yellowish gunk. When I called to ask about it they said they put this on to stem the bleeding but that she did not bleed. Later in the week, I noticed my dog chewing on that paw and now I could clearly see she has a fairly significant cut on the paw. I also requested an incident report as soon as I got home. They said it would be provided in the "report card" they would send later that day. The report card came with a note basically blaming my dog for the injury and today-the "report card" is no longer available to access. My dog has been going to the groomer every 6-8 weeks for 6 years and has never had an issue. We are new to this community so I needed to find a new groomer. Needless to say, I will never return to this groomer. I wish I had the name of the person who was the groomer so I could make sure to never use her again-even if she goes to another grooming company.
