Shelties have extremely long fur and it's prone to matting. I wanted to take Luna to a groomer and to my dismay a lot of grooming services in the Iowa City area were not too well-received. Then I stumbled upon Yuppy Puppy in North Liberty. I'm always a bit nervous about haircuts and nail trims for dogs, as I hope that they're not hurting the puppy. My old dog as a child once came back from a groomer absolutely terrified and his nails were cut extremely close. Not good. This is not the case at Yuppy Puppy though! Luna went in for her appointment and when she came back they had taken off a very appropriate amount of fur and her nails were trimmed nicely. She was given two soap washing and conditioned as well. We had Brenda, so I highly recommend her! To top it off, it was actually less expensive than they had quoted me! Nice surprise! Luna was given a little bandana and a some yummy treats to take home with her as well. It was a good experience, but it is a little on the pricey side (even with my quote being high). I'll probably only take her every other month. The work is worth the price though.

Although we arrived around 8:30pm Maura took our English Pointer mix to the dog park to exhaust some of his pent up energy from the long car ride. They made our dog feel right at home by welcoming him into their home and even letting him sleep on their bed. Although he was only there for 13 hours or so I got a pic and text updates. Who knew?! I believe the front half of the store is dedicated to dog items, middle of the store for cats, and then at the very back of the store in kind of a separate room is the food. Had I not just bought my dog's food, I would have looked to see if they carry his brand. I did notice they they carry a large selection of FROMM foods, which I've always been a fan of. They had a cute table of gourmet dog treats that you could use to create your own mixed assortment. Might try this next time. If you need a funny greeting card, look no further. They carry the Avanti brand, which is my all-time favorite. They offer some harder to find subject matters like pet-loss, pet-sitting, etc. Prices are more than fair. Everything I bought could be found online, but at more expensive prices. Excellent customer service. Conveniently located in a strip mall with UPS and my favorite Chinese restaurant in IC. I have used the emergency services here several times for minor, after hours situations with my…read moredogs. I also took my sweet boy Rusty here for ICU care after my Cedar Rapids vet removed an 11 lb mass with his spleen! My vet's office felt he needed overnight monitoring for complications after surgery, so I transported him there for that. Although my boy did not survive, I was extremely happy with the care he received there. They were in constant contact with me, and answered all of my questions. Their ICU unit is set up very well, keeping staff literally in the room with the patient. I was called even in the middle of the night when complications arose, was made to feel very welcome about visiting, and when my Rusty passed away, their compassion was extremely helpful. They actually performed CPR until we could get there to let our boy go. They placed my husband and I in a private room with him, and spent as much time with us as we needed. We never felt rushed or bothered. They were kind enough let us talk and share stories about our Rusty with them, and that actually helped me more than I can say. Their prices I have found to be much more reasonable than another emergency after hours veterinary office I have gone to that is much closer to my home, but their quality of care and compassion are much greater. I highly recommend!!! 7/19/18...Somehow the above review never was completed to get posted. Well we are here again this evening with our 7 year old boxer Zella who has had bleeding from her mouth. The service here is outstanding, from the front desk staff, to the technicians, to the amazing veterinarians themselves...even in the midst of this pandemic.
