If I could give no stars I would. I checked on our 2 pups mid week of our vacation and was told the lab was doing better than expected. Not sure what that meant but was told both were just fine. Picked them up and they were so excited. The inside of building smelled something awful. I noticed the little white dogs shirt was covered with lint and he was a bit dirty. But with his excitement to see us I didn't really notice everything else until we got in the car and down the road a mile or so. I looked over at him and noticed he had poop on his tail and then noticed he had poop on more than just his tail. Got them home and they immediately needed to get outside. They both needed to poop and pee so badly. The little 12 pound dog drank about 4 cups of water and the lab at least 12 cups. Brought them in and inspected the little. His entire body had poop and his whole belly was yellow like he had been lying in pee and poop. Gave him a bath but will need to take to a groomer for deep cleansing. Inspected the lab and her belly was covered in poop and pee. The labor is also on seizure meds. I counted the pills only to find out she was not given 7 doses. If she misses 1 or 2, she will have a seizure. I feel that she did have one due to her appearance and eyes. I also do not feel they were fed properly. We were gone 12 days and the labs food was in a 5 gallon bucket. Half of it came home with us. I sent the Purina individual packets for the little and way more than he would have eaten. Only 2 packages came home. I recommend everyone to stay away from here!!! We now have to hope the 13 year old lab recovers and will take both to our groomer for some pampering. read more

Gross, I have boarded the dogs there previously and loved it. We boarded two dogs the end of August when I picked them up the place was disgusting and the groomer was slurring her words and excessively repeating herself. I will never go back. read more

We've boarded our dogs at Bison Ridge for over 15 years. Because we've had different dogs over the years we've had 4 dogs use their services and all have loved it. The 2 dogs who had been there most would get really excited when we turned into their driveway and would run to the door to get in. Our newest dog is very young and very shy. On her first trip she was apprehensive but on her second trip was very happy to go. The staff are friendly and treat the dogs warmly and adjust well to the dogs individual personality. One of our dogs had to stay there for a month because I was hospitalized and she did great. I always trust them with my 4-legged loved-ones! read more

I am incensed by the treatment that my dog received at Bison Ridge! I really hate to be harsh, but I have to be...no one should kennel their dog here. 1. The kennel is haphazardly run by a staff that obviously does not communicate. After calling Bison Ridge twice, speaking with staff, and making a reservation for the next day, they did not have my dog on the schedule when I arrived. 2. When I dropped off my dog, the staff member who took him back to the kennel was already half-way through the door while I was still talking to them about my dog's mealtimes, causing me to wonder if they had heard what I said. 3. When I arrived to pick up my dog, I thought it was strange that his food and blanket and other items were already on the counter. I had not specified what time I was coming to pick him up, so if I had arrived around closing time, he would have spent all day in his kennel without his food or blanket or toys (?). 4. The staff was bickering in front of me about lost office items, communication issues, etc, creating an awkward and unprofessional atmosphere. 5. When I picked up my dog he was FILTHY, WET, and SMELLED OF EXCREMENT. He also was acting agitated and nearly pulled me through the door to get outside. 6. My dog literally urinated for such a long time, I wondered if he had been let out at all while we were gone (which wasn't even 24 hours). 7. The pricing seemed very fair to me until I saw my dog after his stay. He's been needy and weird ever since he came home. I honestly wonder if the space I paid for at the kennel was what they advertised it to be. I highly recommend you steer clear of this kennel. read more

Our golden retriever, Kinnick, routinely gets groomed and occasionally stays overnight at Bison Ridge Kennels. We've always had a very positive experience and especially love the fun bandanas Kinnick comes home with after a thorough cleaning! We boarded our dogs here a year ago and had no issues. HOWEVER, that is not the case this year. One of our dogs was brought out with her lead wrapped around her neck and she kept barking at the girls (not normal behavior for her) they said she chewed her harness that we brought her there with and it has poop on it, but here are her tags. They asked what leash was ours for our other pup, apparently they don't keep our dogs things together. Our other pup was brought out and she also chewed up her harness as they didn't have it for us. Both dogs reeked of excrement and had some on them. Seriously, do they not clean out the kennels?? I had to ask for their food container. Took a bit to find it. I had to ask for their food scoop, they went back to find it and found our order dogs bag of food too. I didn't bother to ask for the toy we left with them. Our dogs slept all the way home (that has never happened before). Our dogs stunk so bad we had to give them a bath before I'd let them in our house. They were so exhausted. Took them a few days to recover. Oh, we had to go back for our pups dog tags, I was too flustered to remember to ask for them, and they were too unorganized to give them to us. Will never use them again. read more

We have older dogs that we decided to Kennel for the first time since it got to be to much for our parents. When we picked them up I noticed their beds were soiled - I asked if they had an issue and the reply was no, they had wet the kennel and it ran into the beds....so, what your saying is, the urine ran down the kennel and up over the lip of the bed? They were both matted in either mud or feces. I would not even allow them back in the house without a bath! My husband called the next day to talk to a manager - he was told the dogs did soil their beds and maybe they should not have been returned to us in that condition yet. I could barely stand the smell of the dogs on the way home to LeClaire. One of the dogs ended up with diarehha and we had a hefty Vet bill. They offered free grooming if we would like to try again? NO THANKS. What an awful experience for both them and us. Absolutely disgusting. PS - the only reason there is 1 star is I had to select to post. read more

We get our dog groomed here and she is not a that friendly with people she doesnt know. She doesnt like alot of people but she is surprisingly not that bad with them (which is really good for her). They do a really good job with her and her hair cut is easy to mess up. I definitely like getting my dogs hair cut here! read more

My dogs have gone to Bison Ridge for over ten years and there is a reason we keep going back. We use them for both grooming and kenneling. My family refers to it as the Doggy Marriot. Clean, spacious kennels with optional doggy doors to the outside and the staff treats my pets like their own. They've never had a bad haircut from BR and they've had plenty! We drive 20 minutes both directions out of our way to take our dogs here because the people and the service are worth it.
