And an omelette station as well as some pre-made desserts. Many of the desserts seem to be pie in a disposable tin, jazzed up with whip cream. Although the creampuffs seem to be fresh made. I did not have an omelette but from what I heard around the restaurant they were quite good. The rest of the food was steam-line average. The service was alright as the buffet is mostly self-serve. The one overwhelming comment I have is that the hotel as well as the restaurant are quite dated and reminded me of the early to mid1980s as well as the trays the food or served on. The bathrooms are considerably lacking, and absolutely require a complete renovation.

I love the idea of making a resort like hotel in a place like Medicine Hat where there's not much else to do. If it wasn't resort like, we probably would've done Edmonton. They have a pool with water slides, (pools were a little small though), spa, casino, sometimes live entertainment if I saw that correctly, and two restaurants on the resort. There's also some cheaper chain restaurants across the street if you wanna be a little more frugal. There's the mall across the street too which is convenient. We got the romantic get away package which included a room with a jacuzzi, two TVs, chocolate strawberries and wine (which we decided to pass on as we're not big drinkers), and a $75 voucher for the steak restaurant on the resort. That was a particularly nice addition as we'd normally do the more frugal option. My husband said it was the best steak he's had in years, which is really saying something as he's kind of particular with his food. Baked potatoes were a little disappointing, not too loaded. We'd definitely come here again! PS: They did a good job keeping everything covid safe. Hand sanitizer everywhere, plexi glass, and the pool was closed for cleaning several times a day, and you had to book a time to swim to prevent crowding.

Today wasn't the case as a full bar was in operation. The restaurant is cozy with nice colour with a friendly staff. No liquor today as I have to drive. I started the meal with a tossed salad. This starter salad was probably the best I've ever had. Very colorful and with real green lettuce and multicoloured tomatoes etc. with a good house dressing. I ordered the short ribs. Without getting into too much negativity, the meal lacked texture. It was like eating porridge. Will not order short ribs again. I've had breakfast at other Ricky's before and they're excellent. This was the first supper and was a non repeatable event. I ended the meal with ice cold pumpkin pie which was average. I will return but not for the short ribs or pumpkin pie. Cheers!

Next morning at 9:30 we passed the front desk on our way to the breakfast room and the lady at the desk looked up and not even a good morning uttered from her lips. We entered the breakfast room poured our coffee then proceeded to dish up the warm food offerings of eggs and bacon. To our surprise the trays were completely empty. The lady working the kitchen said that after a "certain time" they did not make any more hot food!! WHAT??? We were there half an hour before the 10 o'clock closing and no hot food??!! Nonsense and the lady didn't even offer an apology for this. She had even turned off the toasting machine! So cold fruit cup and coffee for "breakfast". We headed out with luggage and the impersonal front desk lady and hit the road. McDonalds breakfast along the way.Comfort Inn you lost a customer for your idiotic breakfast policy and impersonal morning desk staff. I'm guessing it's the local Great Wolf Lodge by default so there are roving bands of feral children running loudly down the haphazardly-designed maze of halls at all hours creating chaos and mayhem. They thundered past my door for what seemed like an eternity, all hopped up on chlorine and sugar. After a long day of travelling, all I wanted was a good night's sleep but it was not to be had. Even after reporting the tweenage rabble-rousers to the front desk at 9:20PM, the shenanigans continued for another two hours! I can only imagine their parents were off somewhere drinking their White Claws in peace while the rest of the hotel guests suffered. A positive of my stay, however, was the restaurant. When I eventually found it. There is no rhyme or reason to the architecture and layout of this hotel, but that aside, the wait staff were attentive and friendly and the food is excellent and very good value. And, if you enjoy the constant bleeping of slot machines, I also recommend the bar.

The pool, workout room and lobby were lovely and appear to be recently updated. Fella at the front desk was friendly and did a great job of giving us the rundown of where things were and other details. Our room on the third floor was clean! Loved that! Room was beautifully furnished, linens were clean and towels were plenty. The heater in the room was a bit too loud for me but I'm a very lite sleeper but otherwise, pretty efficient in heating and it didn't smell of anything funky. Breakfast was typical of any other place, a little bland but sufficient. Staff at breakfast were fast at filling requests for low quantities. We, the group I came with will stay here again if ever the need arises.
