Road sign saying Paxico to the north (winery is to the south).

What a cool place! Tucked just off of I-70 at Paxico in the beautiful Flint Hills, this winery has some VERY tasty wines! They have a wonderfully inviting tasting room and offer a Kansas-focused selection of cheeses, etc to go with your wines of choice. A hiking trail leads up through the vineyard to a beautiful scenic overlook. And the heated party space looking out in the vineyard makes a relaxing spot to sit and eat cheese and drink wine. They even offer live entertainment 2pm - 5pm on the weekends

Stopped by here as a last minute stop and it was perfect! Though we weren't sure if we were in the right place due to having to go down the dirt road. But at the end of it is a big winery and there shop. The $5 tasting flights are worth it! Had fun tasting some wine and looking around at other Kansas items. Though it seems like it would be a perfect place for big events we didn't really have time to explore the actually vineyards. Though the person was really friendly and informative about all the different wines we tasted and any questions we had. There were also some really unique artist items around the shop for sale. Defiantly going to have to look into there different event they have and plan a trip back out.

My wife and I discovered this hidden gem of the Flint Hills after having a horrible experience at Schilling Bridge Winery and Micro Brewery the day before (see my other reviews for details). The staff was friendly and knowledgable about the products they offered. The wine tasting was superb as they didn't give us just a splash of each of the samples. I prefer the dryer, my wife likes a bit sweeter, but not pancake syrup sweet. They recommended wines for each of our palates, both were spot on. We ended up buying two bottles of wine before leaving. Walking about the grounds with our dogs was a welcome and serene break from the troubles of life. Sitting atop the hill and looking over the vineyards and the rolling hills beyond, the cares of everyday life seemed to melt away. The owners (husband and wife) took the time to meet the guests... to make us feel like long lost friends. We didn't feel like just another customer. They were even welcoming to our dogs. They made an effort to meet and pet them both. The front porch of the business even has a dog watering dish off to the side to provide drinks for our furry four-legged friends. The wine is good, the atmosphere is epic, the location is sublime. We will be frequenting this establishment whenever we find ourselves in North Eastern Kansas.

A woman with her child came out but did not offer a tasting or any other help. She told her child to pick up the toys after I almost tripped on one, and the child ignored her. I finally asked if we could taste the semi-dry elderberry because we were not able to find it locally. She poured one sample. We had to share the sample. No other tastings were offered. We asked for a case of the wine which she brought out. We asked where they shipped the semi-dry wine in the KC area. She mentioned a few places where they shipped wine, but had no idea where they shipped semi-dry, and did not offer to find out and get back with us. When paying, the screen asked for a tip of over $20. For what? Needless to say, I skipped the tip screen. Five stars for the wine, zero stars for the winery.

The real reason for my 3 star rating is that they have so many wines and meads but you can only taste 5. Granted it's 5 for free but I think they need a pay options too for everyone. Especially for those of us just passing through and don't live in the area. The hostess (person who poured) seemed like she did t want to be there and didn't tell me anything about the wines. Overall the wines I did taste were good o wish I could had tasted more.

The building itself is very modern with spacious and inviting indoor seating as well as ample patio seating outdoors. There is a vast selection of wines, beers, and ciders on tap. I thoroughly (and by thoroughly I mean three bottles worth!) enjoyed the apple pie cider and bought a 4-pack to take with me back to Iowa. The service was outstanding as every server I interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable about the products. Prices are very reasonable. May have to stop in again before heading back home in a couple of days!

The cozy, warm ambiance of the place makes it feel like the ideal place to unwind. I started with a wine flight that included a white, Moscato, and a sweet red. While they were a bit on the dry side for my super-sweet wine preferences, they were still enjoyable. The mulled cider, however, was the real star--absolutely delicious! We also ordered some snacks to share: a pepperoni flatbread and a charcuterie board. They arrived fresh and fast, and the server took the time to explain each item on the board, making the experience even more enjoyable. Everything was top-notch and super tasty. What really stood out was the friendly, knowledgeable staff, who made sure we had everything we needed. There's also a big patio that's perfect for summer months, offering a great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors with a glass of your favorite drink. Plates and water were readily available for self-service, which was a nice touch. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area--such a great spot with the perfect combination of warmth, good food, and great drinks!
