You should never leave a doctor's office feeling violated...however, that is precisely how I felt after Dr. Nagaraju performed a cystoscopy on me. My husband has had several cystoscopies (performed by a different urologist) and, while the experience wasn't pleasant, he felt respected and was made as comfortable - emotionally and physically - as possible. My experience with Dr. Nagaraju could not have been more different. He walked into the room, sat down, and - without explaining anything - jammed (and I mean SHOVED) the cystoscope into my urethra. With zero warning, zero anesthesia, and zero concern shown when I bucked off the table in pain. He didn't ask if I was OK, apologize for hurting me, or ask if I wanted him to stop. I've been shown more compassion by a person who accidentally bumped into me in the store. When, after the test was complete, I asked him why he didn't use anesthetic, he lied and said "shooting" anesthesia into my urethra would have hurt. Well, yeah, that's probably why most, if not all, urologists use TOPICAL anesthetic for the procedure. I come from a family of medical professionals. Unfortunately for him, I know how the procedure is supposed to go. But, even if I didn't, his demeanor/treatment would have been enough to raise a hundred red flags. I canceled my entire hysterectomy and bladder suspension surgery due to this experience. To any other AFAB people considering seeking treatment from this person, I advise you to be wary. If you do receive treatment from him, I sincerely hope you are treated with more courtesy, respect, compassion, and professionalism than I was. read more

Got infection from a procedure that could have been prevented. Hand hygiene and clean equipment.

Dr. Nagaraju is very thorough and knowledgeable about his specialty. I had a large kidney stone removed surgically and he an his staff were very attentive and professional. He made me feel at ease about the procedure before, during and after the surgery. He does have a busy office and a patient may have to allow for sitting in the waiting room before seeing him, but it is worth the wait, as he will answer your questions and explain the procedure clearly. I was recommended to this office through my PCP; however, the recommendation was for a different dr who was booked; so I scheduled with Dr. Nagaraju. First visit was good, he gave me some sample drugs to take for an overactive bladder. 2nd visit, not so good. His assistant told me he was going to do an in office procedure. I knew nothing about this. The assistant was hard to understand. He proceeded with the scope which was very painful. The dr went to review results. When he came back in he proceeded to tell me about this surgery he could perform. I asked him what the results of my scope were and he said everything looked normal that he wanted to go with the surgery because of my complaints. He never asked about the sample drugs he gave me or if they worked. He told me someone would call to inquire if I wanted to do the surgery and set up a date for it. No one called except the surgical center, 6 days after the appointment. They were calling to go over the requirements for the surgery scheduled in 2 weeks. I told her I didn't schedule any surgery and had not even gotten a call to see if I want to do it or not. It's elective surgery I might add. I am definitely not moving forward with anything with this dr. It's a shame to think there are dr's out there just performing unnecessary surgeries. My husband was to have a vasectomy last week. We showed up at Dr.Nagaraju's office in Utica where all my husbands appointments were at. When we got got there ( 20 minutes early) they told us we needed to go to his Troy office and called there and told them we were on our way. We were never told that when making this appointment. We get to Troy (on Time) and the nurse rudely told my husband "well we better get started cause we have time to make up. Dr.Nagaraju was in such a rush that he injected my husband with the numbing and did not give it any time to take effect, He just started cutting. My husband was NOT numb and was screaming and they just kept on working. I understand they gave him all the numbing they could but they could have gave it more time to set in. I am sooooo upset about this whole experience. My husband said he felt like he was on an assembly line because Dr. Nagaraju told him that he works 12 hours on Fridays doing all Vasectomies back to back with no lunch. My experience was quite bad from start to finish. I sat waiting for the doctor for close to 45 minutes in the operating room, when I was attended to, the staff were rough in prepping me, Dr. Nagaraju began the procedure before the anesthesia had time to work so I felt every cut. He also had music blaring in the room with profane lyrics. Upon leaving, I was dismissed without further instructions, was not given any prescription for pain meds or antibiotics. I did not meet the Dr. Nagarju, it was a consultation appointment for an elective surgery. I arrived 10 minutes early as requested, filled out the needed paperwork with 5 minutes, was called back 15 minutes after my scheduled appointment time and then left when I had not seen the doctor within an hour of my scheduled appointment. There is no other business where is completely acceptable to have a customer wait that long. I would greatly encourage other to not accept this practice and find another doctor who is respectful of their patients time. read more

In this day and age of automated physician response that any google can do for you, Dr. Nagaraju is a welcome, encouraging and refreshing throwback to the almost forgotten notion of wellness through wholistic treatment. I spent only about 30 minutes with Dr. Nagaraju and by far one of the best doctors I have met. He is able to put you to ease and offers something that you don't know already.
