having lived in two of the USA's premium food markets (San Francisco - Chicago) I hesitantly…read moreapproached ordering BBQ ribs from a strip mall location with a 4+ star rating. Either this is a really fine depository of rib excellence or the owner has a large family who can post positive reviews. As I pulled into the parking lot - wafts of odorous bbq essense permiented the surroundings. Exiting the car I was greeted by a nondescript entry to the restaurant. On first glance about half of the booths were filled with patrons enjoying large portions of bbq. The place was clean and simply appointed lending to the notion that this was a serious place for eating - not some overly ornate palace that boistered the ego of the owner. After a short wait for the two meals my wife and I were to enjoy at home - I received my meals tightly bundled in a plastic bag - no need to check on the contents - these folks definitely had it going on! Upon arriving home I opened the foam container to what I had hoped for - two nicely portions of baby back ribs and 1/4 chicken .. along with a baked potato and corn on the cob. After securing the necessary beverage accompaniment - I dived right in. Fifteen minutes later - wiping my mouth and hands with a wet paper towel - I knew I had found a BBQ Mecca - here among the Western Slope of Colorado - who would have "thunk it?" ...

I opened the 5lb pan first and some of the meat was sliced but a lot of it was all different sizes of chunks and pieces. I was surprised, as the menu specifically stated "sliced unless otherwise specified" I noticed the meat wasn't as moist and tender as I have had from Rib City before. I opened the second pan of brisket and it was in beautiful sliced rows, the meat was tender and moist as I expected. I called the next day and spoke to the manager, Tyler, he took down thorough report/form which the GM instructed him to do and told Tyler told me the General Manager Nick, said he would call me back. I never heard from him, very disappointed as I spent $198. Poor customer service. L. Thompson

You will never eat brisket this good. Not only is there a well defined smoke ring - a real hallmark…read moreof great barbeque - it is still tender and juicy. I rarely order brisket, fearing choking on dry meat. But - this is a whole different thing. The flavor is there and it is fine by the slice or on a sandwich. The Santa Maria tri-tip is also tender and juicy and tastes so beefy. This feels like eating a steak. I never expected to like turkey legs - but I do love these. Good smoke flavor. It need no sauce (though if you are going to use sauce - try the wasabi!). This is a great food when you don't have a table or want to use a fork. The chicken thighs are also good, though I do take off the skin - it isn't crisp and I don't actually like poultry skin even if it is crisp. Ribs are also fall-off-the-bone tender and gently sweet and tangy from th glaze. I love the coleslaw here - it isn't too thinly cut so it stays crisp. This is in a lightly creamy sauce and is just the type of slaw that makes pulled pork sing! Tamales are really nice - filled with plenty of meat. These have just the right amount of masa. They aren't always available, so get them when you see them!

There was plenty of food in both and both the ribs and brisket were cooked to perfection. The prices are very good for what you get. We look forward to trying more of their extensive barbecue menu. We also went out to the store in Fruita and picked up the rub that is used on the ribs. Can't wait to try the ourselves, but we will still be back to the truck for more as well.

The order is the Brisket Sandwich!…read more My husband (a born and raised Texan) was craving BBQ on our way home from Moab. After a quick Yelp search, I found Smokey Bonez BBQ food truck. After a quick visit to their Instagram, I found their location. Next thing you know, two croc wearing travelers are walking into a Cattle Auction! The truck was easy to spot: bright orange! They had a menu of classic items, although a local told us they change it up. My eyes went for the Burnt Ends, while my husband ordered the Brisket Sandwich. I hate to say there was a winner of the two, but there was. The Brisket Sandwich was piled high with the perfect combination of lean and fatty brisket. It just melted in your mouth! There may have been a battle over who got the last bite haha. :D Luckily, we got the same side of Potato Salad. Although, I should have challenged my husband for the last bite of his, as well. It was absolutely delicious! Beyond the great BBQ, the owner of the truck and his family were ultra friendly and kind. It made us feel like we were back in TX for a moment. Everything you want in a BBQ experience. If you ever randomly spot the bright orange Smokey Bonez BBQ truck, GO!

The brisket was tender and flavorful Cowboy Beans - omg the beans were the best beans I've had in quite a while! We all ate them so quickly. Service: Very friendly! Ambiance: This is a food truck so hard to describe this one
