I have been going to Stephanie's for several years now. Even though, I moved away and now live on the west coast, I still make a point to always make an appointment every time I come to town. She is a true magician. I am not sure how she does it, but every time I leave I feel amazing. Not only relaxed in the body but also in mind. She has resolved misalignments and chronic pain. Just an update - June will mark two years of my steady monthly visits to Stephanie. I stand by my original review - she's the best!

I first went to Stephanie when my little one was a couple of months old (and I had a toddler too) - I was physically and emotionally drained/sore/you-name-it. Stephanie put her hands on me and I felt the tension melt away. It was almost magical. No actually it WAS magical! She was incredible in every way - in her energy as well as the way she could really work my muscles but never doing anything too hard either. I can't believe I forgot to leave a review after my last session... time to rectify that right away! I was in excruciating neck/shoulder pain, and it was making it hard to work, sleep, and even breathe. I was worried about finding a new massage therapist, and really needed a quick fix in time for an upcoming performance, which is totally the wrong way to go about things, I know. Still, Stephanie worked out an appointment for me right away, even in the midst of a snowstorm, and was absolutely amazing in every way. She was supportive, compassionate, and managed to find the source of my pain and work things out to the point that I could take a full breath for the first time in days. She even gave me exercises to do to prevent this problem from reappearing, and was so generous with her time and advice. To top things off, she was so supportive of my upcoming performance (which I don't think I could have even stood through if not for her) that she even came to see it! She was worth every penny, and I'm beyond relieved to find someone so skilled and wonderful in my area. It's an expense that I know can make people nervous (I certainly don't have a lot of cash to spare as a freelance singer), but with Stephanie, I can feel confident that it is a worthwhile investment into my health and wellbeing, that I should take advantage of any time I can. I cannot recommend her enough, for issues of particular pain or just general body maintenance, and I think I'll go ahead and put my money where my mouth is and schedule another appointment right now! read more

Stephanie maintains a comfortable and relaxing space. She is a kind and considerate practitioner. I am not an easy person to work on or to please where massage is concerned, as my back has given me a lot of trouble for many years, and I have additional painful areas in my neck and knees. If you're looking for a massage therapist... look no further! Stephanie does amazing work with everyone from me, who has run-of-the-mill shoulder stress to my mom, who battles a chronic illness. Her knowledge coupled with her ability to relieve my shoulder soreness and tension was amazing. I will absolutely be returning! I entered her office, which is located in her home (where there is free street parking!), and was in one of the warmest and welcoming environments you could imagine. She then went over what I was looking for and approached her work thoughtfully. As she worked, she made sure that the pressure was alright and that I was comfortable. She checked in after the massage as well. It was the perfect balance of warmth and professionalism that's needed to do this work. Afterward, my neck, shoulders and the rest of my body were in perfect alignment. As I mentioned, I was recommended to her by mother, who suffers from chronic arthritis. I found Stephanie on Yelp back during one of the snowstorms this past winter. I gave her a call one morning and was lucky enough to get an appointment that afternoon. I chose to get the 90 minute massage and it was so worth it! I have serious neck/shoulder tension. My muscles are so tight that it physically makes me sick to my stomach. Went to Stephanie based on the good reviews. I was looking for a local therapist to help keep my body in shape as I am a professional athlete. We discussed what sorts of work I had received in the past and what I was looking for and I thought we had an understanding. Right away in the massage I felt through her touch that something was off. I have had hundreds of hours of massages in my career and have some clue as to the needs of my body. Her touch was far too light and did not seem to have a purpose, but I thought to give her a chance. I started getting uncomfortable because we had discussed the problem areas that I wanted worked out in my body and could tell fairly well that it was not working. I mentioned twice in the session that she could go deeper but there was no change. After getting off the table she observed that the alignment issues she had observed in the beginning of the session were not resolved and commented that it was just how my body was. I have never finished a massage in as bad shape as when I started the massage. The whole point of the work I needed done was to have these imbalances corrected and to not have them fixed at all was completely unacceptable in body work. While I am certain that she is a competent therapist and would work for some people I simply wouldn't recommend the work for any athlete or anyone looking for deep tissue work. I also wish that the 140$ was better spent towards fixing my body as I will have to put out additional money and time to have my issues fixed. read more

Go to Practical Bodywork. It's not a luxury. It's maintenance to your own nervous system. Just as you might think of our oil change, or water bill as something that you need, remember to be connected with your nervous system. I've been explaining my pain to physicians and chiropractors for 15 YEARS with no real progress. Practical Bodyworks has helped make it better (not cured, but better) in four sessions so far.
