We have very lucky to have a great library system in the area. Northside is convenient for me on…read morethe north side of town (crazy name, I know). It is in a nice new building that is shared with Albemarle County. There are county ESOL offices upstairs and the county warehouse downstairs. Northside has a vast selection of books and other materials. You can do everything from check out a book to check out an internet hotspot for school work. Have kids and want to go to the Virginia Discovery Museum? You can pick up free passes here. The same is true for Va State Parks. The State Park kit includes a backpack with educational activities for kids. Interested in sewing or embroidery? Northside has maker kits that can be checked out as well. One of the services that I use are their meeting rooms. You can check out meeting spaces for 2 hours at a time. They are enclosed spaces with up to 4 people. It has an exterior monitor for presentations with multiple inputs. Don't want to come inside, no worries... they have drive up window to pick up and drop off books. Don't want to do that either? They have a great digital library where you don't have to leave your couch. If you want it, Northside has it!

We moved from wealthy Fairfax County, VA. The Fluvanna library gives them a run for their money…read more The librarian, Cindy, manages a well organized, friendly staff. When one enters the library, a new creative adventure is in evidence. This library is a rare jewel supported by the patrons and Friends of the Library. Free movies and popcorn as well! So much to love at this library.

The staff is always friendly and efficient. Parking is usually ample. It's clean and well maintained. So, why 3 stars? They apparently haven't caught on to the idea that libraries are a place of quiet study. Right now there is a child roaring loudly and unchecked. Two ladies were standing next to me talking like they were in a stadium (maybe to be heard over all the kids). There is another mom standing behind me cooing loudly to her baby. There are kids running and playing some sort of hide and seek game screaming, "I can see you!" Happy, enthusiastic kids are fabulous- just not in a library. If you want to get some books or movies and be in and out, it's great. If you want to bring your kids for an activity, great again. If you want to do something that requires quiet and concentration, pick another spot. There is no attempt to modulate tone at all. That's just the culture of the place.

It's…read morenice because it's outside of downtown so not as busy and there's a parking lot which is a major plus. It's small though and there's only one area where you can sit and do work which feels up fast. However if you get there before it gets too busy then you're set. I'd come back though again.

It's right on Westover Hills Blvd. near Devonshire rd. ***EXPERIENCE*** I always have a good experience here. It's an easy spot to walk or bike to. They have a good amount of bike lock space and a little parking lot behind it. The librarians who work here are very kind and helpful. It's a smaller library, but has most of the good stuff (at least in regards to what I'm trying to read). Like all libraries, you can put a book on hold or have a book sent to this library if it's not at this location. They have computers for their online catalog. They also have quite a few computers you can log into for personal use. This library is a great spot to get some work done or (surprise) read a book. I love all the natural lighting that spills into this space. ***PRICE*** It's free! It's a library. If no one has a hold on the book you're borrowing it'll automatically renew. ***BATHROOM*** There are single all gendered stalls you can use that are clean. ***CONCLUSION*** I love this library for its librarians, its space, and its books!
