Full home rewire job on old 1800s house. Had a few issues but overall a good experience. Some AFCI breakers started tripping and also discovered staple-pinched wiring, but PowerTech addressed the issue and hasn't re-occured. Communication needs improved - it's very difficult getting responses in a timely manner. Need more transparency on the parts/labor/warranty. Pros: - Full home rewire job performed done by Shawn V. and Kael G. with minimal destruction to walls/flooring. They delivered where others in our area couldn't do to being backlogged for months. - Not only was the wiring re-done, but we were given the option to have the light fixtures replaced, and switches/etc. customized to our liking. Everything is working great. Shawn was very helpful with explaining the options we had and the pros/cons. Cons: - The AFCI (arc fault) breakers they installed kept tripping randomly, with no logical explanation. They have replaced them. Quite a bit of new romex wiring was pinched by over-tightened staples, but they addressed that as well. - Communication needs improved. They are slow to reply, and often times don't reply or call back at all. Despite asking them for an invoice breakdown, they have not done so. I call, I e-mail, I'm told they'll be in touch, but there's no followup. The invoices are confusing and fail to show a breakdown of the specific parts and labor. We were finally told the details of the warranty but only after multiple followups spanning over a week. - Scheduling. What was quoted to be a 2-3 week job turned into 8 weeks. It was a chore constantly having to call to find out when work would continue, especially after being told on numerous occasions Shawn would be here and then he never showed up (and no followup call was made by PowerTech, either). - Invoices. Confusing and don't show a breakdown of the labor/materials, but rather just units and a unit charge. - I had to be adament/pushy about having certain work done to address issues found in the home inspection. Shawn seemed to want to avoid doing certain work (replacing a dangerous exposed outlet under the kitcken sink, raising the dryer outlet off the floor, replacing the knob/tube wire to the dryer, etc.), perhaps to save time/effort. - Shawn and Kael had a tendency to misplace their tools. Kael took my tape measure but gave it back when later confronted. Not sure how he mixed it up when the tape measure was in my tool bucket. I really don't want to make accusations. Just stating the facts. Watch your stuff. - Some plumbing was damaged (hot water supply line under the kitchen sink) resulting from their work. Brand new freezers were scratched and dented from them not taking the time to cover them with protective coverings while working. A lot of sawdust and slate debris had to be cleaned up especially near the water heater. read more
