Jake was on time, efficient and very pleasant. He replaced the air scrubber unit without difficulty.

Josh reached out the night of 04/26/24 after the storm and was out by 8 the next morning. Sean and Braden did a great job at a fair price.

Will try to keep this short. First, I seldom leave reviews. But in this case, they deserve the…read moreeffort to leave them a good one. Three people from Mid American Energy came knocking at my door the other morning. They informed me that my power meter was 15 years old and it had quit working. They told me that in order to replace the meter, the meter box would have to be replaced first and an electrician would have to do that part at my expense. So, I started my online search. I contacted Universal and three other places. One place didn't return my call at all, another said that they were too backed up, and the third one gave me a quote of $3100 dollars. Universal came out the day after I called and said they could do the job for $550 dollars. I said that would be fine and to go ahead as soon as they could. They were here the following day with Brian and his co-worker. When they saw that the entire box did not need to be replaced, they only replaced the connector parts inside the box that were bad. When everything was said and done, they said the job turned out to be easier that they had expected and dropped their charges from $550 dollars to $180 dollars. Mid American was there at the time they did their work and seemed perfectly happy with the work that Universal had done. They installed the new meter and everyone went on their way. It could not have been a better experience. If I ever need the help of an electrician again, I won't even consider calling anyone other than Universal.

Universal Electric was called to my home for what appeared to be a breaker issue. By the time their…read moretwo technicians arrived, the issue had already resolved itself. I asked them to investigate further in case the problem returned, but they declined, saying "there's nothing we can do." They never entered the home, never inspected anything, and only briefly stepped out of their van into my driveway to talk to me before leaving. At no point during the scheduling call was I told there would be a service fee. When the techs arrived, they made no mention of a charge, nor did they provide any kind of invoice or paperwork before leaving. I later received three bills by mail, each demanding $130, with no explanation of what the charge was for -- just a warning that failure to pay would result in the account being sent to collections. I did not believe the charge was warranted and disputed it in writing via certified mail with return receipt, which Universal Electric received and signed for. They never responded. No follow-up, no phone call, no documentation -- just silence. Eventually, they turned the matter over to a collection agency. It's frustrating to be billed for a visit where no service was performed, no agreement was made, and no information was shared upfront about potential charges. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Universal Electric.

We told them this and they told us the part was covered but labor would be $160/hr. Ouch, but okay. After many hours the nice gentleman could not find them. We need to contact a friend of ours to assist him in located the dampener that they placed! It was in the wall behind what appeared to be a return vent. The man tried change different things and wasted more time until finally replacing the dampener. After costing over $460 (mind you the part was under warranty) and now the zoning doesn't work and the dampener makes a squealing noise!!! So I have a dampener that hopefully works but doesn't do its job and large bill and house venting system that was zoned and now doesn't work. Thanks for nothing. I would call them to try and have them remedy their issue but I don't have any trust in them.
