Price's Automatic Transmissions have been around a long time. They have built a reputation on…read moreservice, workmanship and standing behind their work. Most in the community only know them by reputation for transmission work. However, many may not realize the shop does almost everything. When my son's used car began having transmission issues a Checkerd Flag Toyota recommendation was to have Price's take a look. I did so and scheduled with front desk staff Amanda who was fantastic. The older model Honda was diagnosed quickly with needing a transmission rebuild. I also asked for an estimate on brakes, rotors and calipers and a few smaller items. A detailed written estimate accompanied and it was not cheap. But I had already done my homework and knew it was more reasonable than the dealer and another local shop. They also provide military discounts which is a rarity in this field. Ultimately after less than a week of thinking about what to do the manager Les called me. I decided to move forward and scheduled the work. Les provided a ride home and also picked me up when repairs completed. The car was delivered as promised after four days. There was a lot to do and I felt very comfortable with the skilled technicians that have worked at Price's for years. They also back up all transmission work with a 3/36k warranty. Other shops do not offer that extensive of a warranty. Also their warranty is good coast to coast as they have agreements with shops across the country. The only caveat is the car must be returned for inspection and sign off on warranty around 10 days after initial work complete. Checkout with Amanda was smooth and the price was to the penny as promised. But wait! Amanda informs me that she took it upon herself to have the car receive a Virginia state inspection that was due in days. That is one of few services Price's does not offer. It passed and they provided it as a thank you for my business. WOW!, what other shop would do this...few in my opinion. Follow up with shop to sign off on the warranty was completed in less than two weeks. I informed them the car operated like it was new. The shifting was now smooth, braking perfect and no more wobbly wheel. Other items also fixed such as a leaky overhead gasket. The inspection took around 15 minutes and I enjoyed a cup of coffee. Price's remains a family owned local shop. They have fleet contracts with City of VB, Chesapeake among others for a reason. They are trusted, get the job done right and are affordable. I cannot stress the fact it's their integrity that I appreciated the most. They wanted my business enough to follow up which I liked and the price never increased when it could have with a few small items added. 100% RECOMMEND! Closed half day Friday and weekends.

I initially deleted my negative review because the owner, Randall, personally called me,…read moreapologized, and promised to make this situation *partially right. I regret giving him the benefit of the doubt. My active-duty Coast Guard son paid Hawk's approximately $5,300 to replace the engine in his 2019 Kia Rio with a used engine that had approximately 14,000 miles on it. Approximately 10 DAYS after the engine replacement, while my son was traveling across the country for a Coast Guard move, the vehicle broke down again in Oklahoma. He was stranded far from home and ultimately had to leave his vehicle behind and fly to California to report to his new duty station. In addition to the repair, he incurred airfare, checked-baggage expenses, shipping costs for his civilian belongings, Uber/transportation expenses, and the enormous inconvenience of arriving at his new duty station without his vehicle and belonging he could not fly or ship- The Oklahoma mechanic who actually diagnosed and repaired the vehicle confirmed to me that the problem involved the engine-mounted high-pressure fuel pump. He found that the mounting bolts had snapped off. He told me they may have been overtightened or not tightened at all-The resulting repair cost my son another $1,200 (and that's with the mechanic accepting mere crumbs for labor!) What happened next is the reason I am writing this review: Randall called me himself. In his voicemail, he apologized for what happened, discussed the fuel-pump bolt issue, said that although the replacement engine came with the fuel pump already on it, they should have gone in and checked/tightened the bolts, and then specifically told me he was going to send us a check for half of the $1,200 repair bill. He asked me to text him my mailing address so he could send the check. I did so on September 2. I believed him. In fact, I was so appreciative that he appeared willing to stand behind the situation that I deleted my original negative review. I told him I appreciated him doing the right thing. I gave him the OK mechanic's phone number and the receipt for $1200 for him to verify my facts: I then waited.And waited. I followed up. Randall acknowledged one of my follow-ups. I followed up again a week later asking when I could expect the check. My message was read and not answered. As of September 20, 18 days after providing the mailing address he specifically requested, no promised reimbursement has arrived and I have received no explanation for why he apparently stopped communicating. 10 days after Hawk's completed a $5,300 engine replacement, the vehicle broke down again; the Oklahoma mechanic found the high-pressure fuel-pump mounting bolts snapped off; my son paid another $1,200; and Randall subsequently apologized and voluntarily promised to reimburse half of that bill. He has not honored that promise. I have preserved the original voicemail, its transcription, our text-message history, payment documentation, and the information from the Oklahoma mechanic. I am now documenting this matter with the Virginia Attorney General's Consumer Protection Section and the Better Business Bureau, and we are exploring the legal-assistance resources available to my son as an active-duty Coast Guard member. This entire situation could have ended very differently. I gave Randall credit for stepping up, removed my first review, and gave him more than two weeks to do exactly what he volunteered to do. I wasn't demanding that he pay the entire $1,200. I was simply expecting him to keep the commitment HE voluntarily made. Consumers can draw their own conclusions from these facts. I know that I would never entrust another vehicle belonging to someone I love to this business.

Steve wouldn't let the car go until it was fully resolved. They also found an exhaust issue and put an interim solution in place without any additional charges. Even though this repair took a while (due to parts), we are very happy with the work and Vencam's commitment to quality work. Vencam will be our go to shop for work on this car.

Extremely Disappointed - Poor Communication and Zero Accountability…read moreI initially went to Easter Off Road to have a leveling kit and new tires installed. I returned a little while later to have a noise diagnosed, which involved removing my skid plate. I travel for work approximately 90% of the time, which the shop was fully aware of. When I called to schedule a time to have my skid plate put back on, I was informed that they had thrown it away without ever contacting me. The owner refused to reimburse me or replace the skid plate. He claimed they have a three-day policy for holding parts, yet also admitted that my skid plate sat there for a month before they threw it away. During that entire month, no one attempted to call, text, or email me to ask what I wanted done with my property. I also have an existing text thread with their service staff regarding my vehicle, and not a single message was sent letting me know that my skid plate was still there, that there was supposedly a deadline to pick it up, or that they intended to throw it away. If there is truly a three-day policy, that was never communicated to me before they disposed of my property. What makes this even more frustrating is that when I originally had my leveling kit installed, they specifically called and asked whether I wanted to keep the old parts. I said no, and they disposed of them. Clearly, they had both my contact information and an established way to communicate with me before disposing of parts, yet that same courtesy wasn't extended to a skid plate that was supposed to go back on my vehicle. My issue isn't simply that they threw away my property. It's the complete lack of communication and accountability afterward. They knew I travel extensively for work, had multiple ways to contact me, made no attempt to do so, and then refused to replace or reimburse me for something they chose to discard. A single phone call, text, or email could have prevented this entire situation. Instead, I'm now responsible for replacing a perfectly good skid plate because they threw it away without my permission. I expected much better communication and customer service from a shop entrusted with my vehicle. Unfortunately, based on how this was handled, I would not recommend Easter Off Road.
