I've always seen U-Edit on the corner of the shopping strip but never ventured in. I finally got me something I could take to them and in I went! I go in and give them my two reels. "I'd like this wedding video transferred to DVD, please." "Sure, no problem. We have a 250 foot minimum. It's $.15/foot. Looks like you'll have under the 250 minimum..." "Okay. How long will it take?" "Oh, about 4-6 weeks" "Alright. Call me when it comes in." It came in right as they had estimated. Right around 4 weeks and all-in-all, I'm pretty happy with it. They try to document any problems with the film and noted that it was overexposed or had artifacts or was cloudy. It's a 40 year old reel of film. I don't expect it to be perfect. Now we have the reels preserved on a DVD and this Sunday when my family gets together for dinner, we'll watch it for the first time all together. I'm excited. Thanks U-Edit. I don't know what part I played in the editing, but I couldn't care less.

I suspect any review given for this place doesn't really matter, as I think these guys have a…read moremonopoly on this type of business in this area, and they take full advantage of that with the high prices that they charge. But I guess I could give them two stars - they did actually transfer 8mm video to DVD. But their customer service is poor and their prices are high. Every employee I dealt with in this place seemed kind of lost. It was extraordinarily expensive, and the final charge was more than the estimate. They said it would take three to four weeks. I went in after five weeks asking about it, and watched them hunt for my order, which they finally found "in the wrong place". In the meantime, someone looked on their computer to confirm that no one called me - did they think I was lying about that? The other big disappointment (other than the high price and poor customer service) was the lack of a home menu with chapters on the DVD. It never even dawned on me that the resulting DVD would not have any chapters at all, especially when it contained multiple reels, so I didn't even think to ask about that. Seems they could have at least made each reel its own chapter, or just put a chapter marker every 15 minutes, but it's just one long movie with no way to navigate. They also didn't quite finish the job as they forgot to make the flash drive. They said they will burn that and drop it in the mail to me. We'll see. But it will take awhile to copy because there are "a lot of files" to copy. Multiple files = multiple chapters, wouldn't you think? I'm also surprised that they kept a copy of my personal videos. I don't recommend them, but don't know of any alternative. I expected more from a small personal shop.

***Please read this and make your own decision on using Chris for your transfer services***…read more I dropped off a project with Chris late February. Over $600 worth of pics and vhs tapes. Was told up to 6 weeks for completion. I finally had to force the project to get done by the end of June. 1. Said she would call with updates. Never did that happen. I had to email once a month to see how everything was going. 2. Had to tell her we were picking everything up no matter if it was completed or not. We had had enough excuses. She then tried to stall for more time. 3. The day I was coming to pick up the project she called and wanted to know which VHS tapes were mine. She had gotten some of our tapes mixed up with others. She did tell me she tried to match up handwriting. 4. Had to make a trip back to her house to give her back some tapes that were NOT mine. She gave me some other customers VHS tapes. 5. Checked my flashdrives aftwards. They were a freaking mess. She enhanced a lot of the photos and left all her versions of the same photo in there. So I had 5 flashdrives of 315 photos. And most were doubled and tripled up. 6. She runs her business out of her home. Her dog was all over me while I was trying to go over the initial order upon drop of. I wish after I walked in I had turned right around and left. Overall would caution anyone wanting to use Chris for her service. Just know it may take twice as long as she says. And she may lose or mix up your stuff because she is unorganized and does not keep customers keepsakes separate for others.
