I've always seen U-Edit on the corner of the shopping strip but never ventured in. I finally got me something I could take to them and in I went! I go in and give them my two reels. "I'd like this wedding video transferred to DVD, please." "Sure, no problem. We have a 250 foot minimum. It's $.15/foot. Looks like you'll have under the 250 minimum..." "Okay. How long will it take?" "Oh, about 4-6 weeks" "Alright. Call me when it comes in." It came in right as they had estimated. Right around 4 weeks and all-in-all, I'm pretty happy with it. They try to document any problems with the film and noted that it was overexposed or had artifacts or was cloudy. It's a 40 year old reel of film. I don't expect it to be perfect. Now we have the reels preserved on a DVD and this Sunday when my family gets together for dinner, we'll watch it for the first time all together. I'm excited. Thanks U-Edit. I don't know what part I played in the editing, but I couldn't care less.

I suspect any review given for this place doesn't really matter, as I think these guys have a…read moremonopoly on this type of business in this area, and they take full advantage of that with the high prices that they charge. But I guess I could give them two stars - they did actually transfer 8mm video to DVD. But their customer service is poor and their prices are high. Every employee I dealt with in this place seemed kind of lost. It was extraordinarily expensive, and the final charge was more than the estimate. They said it would take three to four weeks. I went in after five weeks asking about it, and watched them hunt for my order, which they finally found "in the wrong place". In the meantime, someone looked on their computer to confirm that no one called me - did they think I was lying about that? The other big disappointment (other than the high price and poor customer service) was the lack of a home menu with chapters on the DVD. It never even dawned on me that the resulting DVD would not have any chapters at all, especially when it contained multiple reels, so I didn't even think to ask about that. Seems they could have at least made each reel its own chapter, or just put a chapter marker every 15 minutes, but it's just one long movie with no way to navigate. They also didn't quite finish the job as they forgot to make the flash drive. They said they will burn that and drop it in the mail to me. We'll see. But it will take awhile to copy because there are "a lot of files" to copy. Multiple files = multiple chapters, wouldn't you think? I'm also surprised that they kept a copy of my personal videos. I don't recommend them, but don't know of any alternative. I expected more from a small personal shop.

***Please read this and make your own decision on using Chris for your transfer services***…read more I dropped off a project with Chris late February. Over $600 worth of pics and vhs tapes. Was told up to 6 weeks for completion. I finally had to force the project to get done by the end of June. 1. Said she would call with updates. Never did that happen. I had to email once a month to see how everything was going. 2. Had to tell her we were picking everything up no matter if it was completed or not. We had had enough excuses. She then tried to stall for more time. 3. The day I was coming to pick up the project she called and wanted to know which VHS tapes were mine. She had gotten some of our tapes mixed up with others. She did tell me she tried to match up handwriting. 4. Had to make a trip back to her house to give her back some tapes that were NOT mine. She gave me some other customers VHS tapes. 5. Checked my flashdrives aftwards. They were a freaking mess. She enhanced a lot of the photos and left all her versions of the same photo in there. So I had 5 flashdrives of 315 photos. And most were doubled and tripled up. 6. She runs her business out of her home. Her dog was all over me while I was trying to go over the initial order upon drop of. I wish after I walked in I had turned right around and left. Overall would caution anyone wanting to use Chris for her service. Just know it may take twice as long as she says. And she may lose or mix up your stuff because she is unorganized and does not keep customers keepsakes separate for others.

I've submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and since February have attempted calling Brinks dozens of times to cancel. I have been transferred, have had my calls dropped, and have been placed on hold for hours. Update: I was eventually able speak with someone on the phone to cancel my contract without an automatic renewal.

Choose another alarm company I am filing this complaint because Brinks Home has failed to provide the life-safety monitoring service that I contracted for and has repeatedly failed to correct the problem. I originally had an Alarm.com security system through another provider. When that company went out of business, I contacted Alarm.com for recommendations and was provided with several authorized dealers in my area. Brinks Home was the first company to respond, so I chose them. My existing Alarm.com system was already installed and working. Brinks simply took over the monitoring service and installed one additional device--a monitored smoke detector. This was especially important to me because my home has previously experienced a fire, and I wanted the peace of mind that a properly functioning monitored smoke detector would immediately notify the fire department in the event of another emergency. Within days of installation, the newly installed smoke detector began malfunctioning. The alarm panel repeatedly beeped, and I could not silence it. After contacting Brinks, technical support remotely silenced the panel but did not resolve the underlying problem. I was then instructed to replace the batteries in a smoke detector that had been installed only a few days earlier. Although I followed those instructions, the detector began malfunctioning again just hours later. Since then, I have scheduled two separate service appointments to have the issue repaired. On both occasions, I rearranged my schedule and took time away from work to be home for the technician. Brinks canceled both appointments, leaving the problem unresolved. Each time I have contacted customer service, I have experienced lengthy hold times, multiple transfers, and representatives who were unable to provide a solution. When I attempted to cancel my service because Brinks has not provided a functioning monitored fire alarm system, I was told I might have to pay cancellation fees or was offered discounts instead of having the issue resolved. After three weeks, I still do not have confidence that the monitored smoke detector is functioning properly. This is not simply an inconvenience. A monitored smoke detector is a life-safety device, and I believe Brinks has failed to meet its responsibility to provide the reliable service it contracted to provide. I have made every reasonable effort to allow Brinks to correct this problem. Instead, I have experienced repeated cancellations, poor communication, and no meaningful resolution. I have completely lost confidence in Brinks Home's ability to provide dependable monitoring or customer service. I am requesting the following resolution: * Immediate cancellation of my Brinks Home agreement. * A complete waiver of any cancellation or early termination fees. * A refund of the charges I have paid for a service that has not been properly provided. * Written confirmation that my account has been closed and that I have no further financial obligation to Brinks Home. I am not seeking anything beyond a fair resolution. I simply want to end my relationship with a company that has failed to deliver the service it promised and move to a provider that can provide reliable monitored fire protection for my home.
