So to start off with pros and cons Pros: not crowded optimal equipment thats it. cons: the billing, if you want to cancel you have to write a letter to some place and then if they even get it you get charged 2 more months had to go a different route to cancel, and then idk how hard it is to keep a place clean but jesus this gym STINKS! like the smell is horrible, and then the owner is talking about the best gym in the IE but clearly not this place it is barley at 3 stars, overall if you dont care about you environment this gyms for you, if you actually care about a clean space and not smelling a trashy smell every workout dont. read more

I wish rating 0 stars was a thing. I can count the amount of times I've gone here on just one of my hands, so I tried to cancel and the ridiculous owner gives me some address in Connecticut or Kentucky or something for me to send a letter to. I proceed to kindly and formally write and send m6 cancellation letter, and I still get charged 2 more months. Then, I go again and tell him that I'm still being charged, and he gives me a new address because apparently the original place conveniently shut down near the time I sent my letter of cancellation. So, I send a new letter to this new address, and the charges just keep coming for 2 more months. Finally, I tell my bank about it, remove their access to my bank account, and still get charged 1 more month. Finally they have no more access, and they spam me with letters in the mail, demanding I pay "what I owe". Literally do NOT sign up here. Called a different location and the guy told me that the Yucaipa owner must be making it hard on purpose, because one should be able to just walk in and cancel. I'm STILL receiving letters of payment. read more

Terrible place for a women to workout, I'm a total gym rat and was there almost daily for a few months, had a few incidents that I felt absolutely gross and like I was being stared at so hard by this guy who claimed he was Tom cruises stunt double. I'm not even kidding. There is ONE men's restroom and one gender neutral, where men piss on the seat and leave the seat up constantly, also they are gross and never clean, never have TP. Very outdated hand dryer that don't really work and very outdated everything really. I would be willing to put the creeps/man culture shit aside if I was able to get my workout in but I can't even do that without a roach yes a ROACH trying to crawl on me. I have a video of that one. I tried bringing this to the owner's attention and he winked and said that it's extra protein. Didn't take anything I said serious. The locker rooms haven't been properly cleaned in ages, smell very musty and I felt gross keeping my stuff there. I also was pretty shocked at how the owner started acting when he found out what I did for a living - very unprofessional and creepy. There isn't even a solid wiping system for after using machines, there is 2 old towels that smell like mildew and 2 spray bottles for the whole dang gym. Very happy to never ever come back here, I really have gotten back to enjoying my workouts in peace over at revolution fitness, I would rather pay extra money and workout in a clean, safe spot. read more

Save your money ..The gym is extremely dirty and very old equipment. Showers don't work and the stretching room has bugs . This place is an absolute nightmare. Not only is it old and dirty but I can't cancel my membership after 4 months of trying. I've called 14 times left voicemails, wrote letters, contacted the management company and told the manager to his face, "cancel my membership" and I still can't get help. After putting a stop payment on my bank card because I couldn't cancel powerhouse is now sending me to twinnoaks agency that's is harassing me demanding I pay them for past due payments that keep getting bigger yet I can't cancel. This place is a complete scammer nightmare. Stay away at all costs. read more

As some other reviewers have said, he promised easy cancellation after term of contract but then gave some story that he had changed billing companies and the only way to cancel our membership was to male a letter to a post office box. Term is over and I went back to 24. Sent two letters and still getting billed. Can't send it verified because its a PO Box. Going to BBB and states attorney as he states that there is "nothing I can do" and blames the billing company. I bet he is still getting our $40 a month though! read more

The main guy that's there is extremely un professional. first of all I went it to cancel my membership after having to wait and pay the 11 months. When there, he said that I was a warm up for the day and that he's gonna have to hear people "bitch about their membership". When trying to cancel said membership he was explaining to me how the cancellation thing worked that I had to write to the owners to cancel. Then goes on saying " the people that write the yelp review over exaggerate the process and that they don't know what they're talking about." I then had to sit there and listen to the guy talk about how he had to put off buying a 1.2 million dollar house to deal with his job. I haven't got the slightest clue why he had to flex off his money like if that supposed to make me relate with the dude. I asked him again can I cancel my membership and he once again explains to me how it works and i already knew how it worked. He goes to get a paper then proceeds to tell me that it's a horrible idea to get married and that i shouldn't get married and that he was supposed to retire two years ago and could have been in the Bahamas with his wife and girlfriend the entire time. Then I ask him "after I get my money back I want to delete all my information from their database and I don't want any information of mine to be on there." finally after him yapping I ask him if he had written the letter to cancel my membership cause I was visibly annoyed with my experience and he again started talking about the yelp reviews but at this point I was getting nowhere and told him that "the yelp reviews don't mean anything because I was experiencing first hand " he talked about his wife and the Bahamas again while I'm there wondering if he had sent the letter to the Owner. I asked him if he had sent one he said that he did, but I never saw him send a letter and I never saw him write anything. All while of this was going on he never once looked me in my eye he just kept looking down to tell me what's going on except when he was talking about his money and his wife . One of the final things I remember was that he said " im a zillionaire why would I want to take money from a 19 year old or what ever" and "if the money doesn't come through you can come back and blow up the place " . I've known the owner for almost 20 years. This gym is clean, not crowded, and offers very good equipment that provides all you need for a good work out. In so far as billing, yes, the owner used a 3rd party billing company, and yes, he acknowledged issues and has since used another company. The owner is dedicated to his business, works 7 days a week, and we've developed a good friendship. It's close to my home as well. I've been to other locations and cannot deal with the crowds. Powerhouse doesn't have this. Honestly, I hope it stays that way? read more

Don't bother signing up for this gym the only good thing about this gym was that it was open during COVID when other gyms weren't so we were kinda forced to go there otherwise I would have never signed up it's really small everything seems old, even the ceiling is falling apart in the vault room, and they only have one restroom that can only be used by one person at a time. Better off signing up somewhere else now that other gyms are open they charge more here too, but the worst part is that if you want to cancel your membership they want you to mail a letter to a PO Box in Kensington, Connecticut by the time the letter gets there you would already be charged another month it's really inconvenient. read more

If I could put 0 stars I would. Billing issues are a disaster! I paid a membership for a year when I wanted to CANCEL I had to write a letter to Kensington CT. Of course by the time they "received " the letter it was time for them to Bill me again. I had canceled my automatic payment to the gym and now sent to collections for the $34.00 monthly payment and $10.00 club service fee! Really sir you made $408. Off of me I maybe visited the gym 10 times. Regardless such a pain in the butt to cancel membership. It takes a entire minute to sign up! Just not happy with the billing at at all! I was a member of this gym for about 5 years when my lifestyle changed and I began traveling. During the time that I was a member I just thought it was an average gym but since I've been using gyms throughout the country I have come to realize that this is so much more than just an average gym. My travels have taken me to North and South Carolina as well as Florida Texas Washington New York and Nevada and I have yet to find a gym as clean as well kept and with such great equipment and uncongested as this one. Do not sign up with this gym. it deserves 0 stars and so does the management/owner. Billing issues are a complete nightmare. I have had similar issues as Rochelle M. and Mike H. Which gym makes you cancel through a 3rd party? If you sign up at the gym you should be able to cancel at the gym. They obviously want to make it inconvenient to cancel to take your money. Count yourself lucky if you call Kensington, CT and actually get through. They say they will contact the owner and then get back to you. Sent a letter to Kensington, CT months ago and never received a response in regards to canceling the membership. They told me they never received the letter and asked me if I sent it certified mail. Didn't know I needed a certified letter to cancel a gym membership. Tried calling the gym several times and no one answers. Bottom line, membership may be cheap here but go somewhere else where the customer service is better and you can actually take care of business matters at the gym. read more

I'll be very honest in my experience at Powerhouse Gym in Yucaipa: I started working out here 5-6 days a week since 2015. If you're looking for a gym that offers you great workout machines and plenty of heavy weights for weight training, this is the place to go to... a hidden gem amongst gyms. If you're into selfies, picking up someone's number, or hanging around, this is not the place for you... go to 24, LA, fitness 19, etc. This is an all about muscle strength/muscle growth gym that one goes into day in/day out and sees results. When I had to move out of town, the owner made it easy for me to get out of my contract. Being that he competed and knows his stuff well, the owner also gave me tips on weight training, which got me results. So, if you want a no BS gym where you go in and out for a SERIOUS workout... then Power House Gym @ Yucaipa is the place. I'll miss it! read more

Heard about the gym through a Youtube video and just had to check out the place for myself. Drove all the way from Anaheim Hills Ca and have to say was worth it. They have equipment you cannot find anywhere else. Also a big 375lbs dumbbell to test your gym ego !!! Got to meet the owner and he personally took me on a tour of his gym. I had a membership here for roughly a year. The facility is nice and was mostly empty during the day. The only problem was trying to cancel the membership. The membership had to be canceled through a third party. It took two months of effortful exchanges to get the payments to stop. Otherwise, good experience. read more

If I could give a zero to this gym I would. It all started off okay, the gym had adequate machinery but as time went on, things break. Well the owner "Ian" decided to not replace broken machines and well now, about one fourth of gym is non-operable. Lights are always flickering, some have gone out and hadn't replaced and problem my won't, staff is terrible with customer service; especially with canceling memberships. Ian states that you should send a letter somewhere across the country to cancel 30 days prior the day you want to terminate. I come to find out he can cancel it from the comfort of his computer, but he makes an elaborate process to discourage customers from canceling. On top of making it impossible to cancel, he tries to charge you one last month because of the "30" day cancellation notice. My first impression of this gym was positive. The people I encountered were nice as well as the workers. The gym has unique equipment, as well as some old school favorites that any gym worth it's salt should include if they consider themselves a serious gym. The gym is smaller than I expected, but it makes up for this by not being overly crowded, meaning no long wait times for equipment you want to use. Signing up was easy and hassle free, and the monthly rate I got for me and my wife was very affordable. There are showers and lockers. There is a aerobics room, and tanning area. One thing worth mentioning is that there is only one restroom stall which is unisex so don't be surprised if there is a line, or if (god forbid someone has bubble guts). Overall I felt that this gym provided me with the most important thIngs I require which are the bare essentials which at this point is good enough for me. read more
