How the main gym floor looks like
Dinah C.

All the reviews are consistent and true (except for one): 1. Christopher (owner and trainer) is great, makes sure all the newbies are following along and understand how to do certain moves 2. No egos whatsoever, everyone in the gym was great and encouraging 3. Legit kickboxing, and you get what you put in. Make it hard or easy as you want. I attended the Muay Thai kickboxing class, typical class structure goes: -10 minute group warm up and stretch -30 minute 8 round bag work out. There are two groups, one group does some bag work for 2-3 minutes while the other group does cardio with Chris. So you're always going something, which is great! -last 10 minutes is group abs/cardio and cool down. The only reason while I didn't give it a perfect 5 stars is cause the place feels sweaty. What I mean is that it didn't feel "clean." That's only because there are 3 back to back sessions in a day (and I attended the last session of the day), and I'm sure there's little to no down time to wipe things down. Also, real dudes work out there. So of course it's gonna smell like man sweat. Chris if you're reading this sorry! Haha, but on the other hand, he provided a great work out with great music!

I go to gracie jiu jitsu in the back and charles is always so cool.

My son enjoys going here. The price went up from $9 to $12 a class but that is still reasonable.

Candyce keeps it fun while she kicks my butt and changes up my routine every few weeks. She's great at explaining why she's having me do each exercise and at showing me how to do them. I always leave my sessions with her dripping with sweat and feeling like I have just been through the longest hour of my life! Her rates are reasonable for all of the personalized attention but don't expect any frills at this gym. At GIT Right you have to bring your own towel and water. Old school, I know. The trainers monitor every exercise so that people are doing proper form and are positioned correctly. In the 9 months that I've been here I've had no injuries, and mostly due to them emphasizing proper form and stretching. They pay particular attention to you and your fitness goals, and as experts in their fields, they offer great advice and suggestions to reach your goals faster, whether it be weight loss, muscle gain, endurance, or better nutrition. I'm always raving about how happy I am to have joined. I have met some great people here that motivate and inspire me on a daily basis, and I never thought I could say that I look forward to getting my butt kicked every time!

A lot of the classes were mostly cardio and I was looking for a place to learn techniques. I found my home at kali. They have a knowledgeable and helpful coach. As well great support system with the students that attend. Everyone will help you grow and become better each day. They have two locations, one in Whittier and one at a private location in Anaheim off the 91. As a beginner, I highly recommend this for other beginners. You get to work the technique and spar with different belts. Each person will help you with their experiences to help you succeed.

I have been a student of Sifu Bud Thompson for eight years now, so I can vouch for the validity of…read morehis training and what it has done for me personally. The Kali Academy is a place where you come to work hard, if you are not prepared to work hard then you will not be able to get the full benefit of the training. Kali is a complete system that offers training in multiple real-life situations: striking, ground fighting, weapons, close quarter combat, and multiple attackers. Sifu Bud and his instructors have helped me over the past with any questions that I may have had and have helped me to become a better practioner of the arts I have chosen to study. Everybody who comes here and puts forth the effort will leave with something that can help them on their journey to becoming a better student and practioner of the arts. I highly recommend this place if you are serious about learning and training; you'll be surprised at what you can learn. As for the previous (filtered) review, I can only say that he has a skewed perspective of what really happens here. No sparring? No emphasis on execution? You either didn't show up enough or you weren't ready for sparring, because our sparring is full contact (boxing gloves and mouthpiece/cup) and is very intense. I, myself, have sparred on numerous occasions and have had my fair share of bumps and bruises. So don't try to tell these people there is no sparring. We almost always video tape our sparring sessions and they are available on dvd for your review and for your further improvement. Everything we do prepares you to properly execute your training in real combat, but you do have to put the TIME AND EFFORT in or else it won't make any sense and you'll forget about it when you really need it. Don't blame Sifu Bud for your inability to understand what he's teaching, or the lack of training on your part. If you had a problem understanding then you should have asked for help or stayed after class with a more experienced student and asked for some clarification. Yeah, we do train certain things a lot but it's because they want us to understand important concepts that are necessary to proceed. How can they teach us to run when some are barely able to stand? As for the contract, Sifu always told us that we could break it as long as we gave a 30 day notice in writing. If people want to leave, it's really that simple. The website has been updated, by the way, to show that there is no more annual contract. Please refer to it for updated pricing plans.
