Best of both worlds, HIIT was challenging with the cardio boost, while the yoga is more soothing. I love our instructor, Bronwyn's energy and there's live DJ-ing while we did our class! The music transitioned perfectly into each part of the class, from HIIT, mediation, and yoga. Yoga mats, weights and water are provided. You can even use their glasses if you forget your bottle. They also finished the session with a lavender towel for each of us to cool off. Spray bottle and sanitizer to clean our mats and equipment afterwards. With a recovering sprained ankle, I couldn't balance to do a couple of the moves. I opted to skip jumping altogether. They used to do their classes virtually and out at the park. Their time at this location may be limited so give them a try if you can make it out to this location.I booked through ClassPass. The price is competitive and better than many studios in the area.

Even though it's a very small gesture but that made all the difference for me! The instructors really enjoy what they do, and it's so easy to tell from the way they teach! So for some more advanced students, the instructors teach more advanced moves for them.

They teach authentic yoga based on Vanda Scaravellis teachings of: focussing on grounding the body, lengthening the spine, and focussing on your breathing to create a very meditative practice and great awareness. One of the first places I sought out when I moved to Toronto was a yoga studio, particularly of the…read moreIyengar style. It also helped that this studio was recommended to me by people in Calgary who had been here and had taken classes from the owner/teacher (Marlene M). If people know of your studio provinces away, than it must be pretty good. This studio is very clean and just the right amount of space to not be overwhelming. When I arrived, the front desk person was very friendly and helpful answering my questions and helping me get set up with a pass. Some studios feel intimidating when you enter them, not this one. I felt welcomed and comfortable. I attended a number of classes with a few different teachers who all seemed to be well trained and had a great rapport with students. I felt a sense of community and was pleased when I would see teachers chatting with students after class and answering questions. Also, the prices for drop-ins and such seem to be on par with other studios around. After some time, I noticed this studio had programs for different ailments, such as the Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis and Cardiac Program. I don't know much about them as I didn't inquire, but I think it's great classes like this are being offered. I have since moved away from Toronto, but visit frequently, so when I'm in town I like to stop by here for a refreshing class in my favourite style of yoga.

The senior teacher is Marlene Mawhinney who was recently described by Sweat Equity magazine as "a national treasure". And deservedly so. The studio teaches Iyengar style yoga, a classical style which focuses upon rigorous alignment and great attention to detail. Iyengar teachers are among the best trained yoga teachers, and the Iyenger style is widely respected by its various peer groups yoga styles. BKS Iyengar himself is still alive at age 93, and continues to practice yoga every day at his home studio/retreat in Pune, India. The studio (and Iyengar yoga in general) doesn't indulge in much of the artsie new age elements of yoga. There will be no incense or drum circles here. Just great quality yoga instruction. They also have various programs for those with specific needs, (back problems, heart problems, etc), and they take a very principled approach towards their responsibility towards those who have physical limitations or ailments. I've been attending classes here off and on for 15 years, although not as frequently as i would like recently, as I live further away. Highly Recommended.

I have never practiced kundalini yoga before, so this was a great treat to an early morning. The pictures from the site reflected the space, it was tidy, and clean. The studio had yoga mats, blankets, and pillows for participants to use for free. Shivalee was the instructor for my class, she was very descriptive in all the moves and it was a very smooth transition from one move to another. The class itself was an hour and a half. The location is very accessible by the spadina streetcar and it is walkable from the spadina subway station (about a 10 minute walk). Although I had a great time, this type of yoga is definitely not for me, but when I do purchase the passport to prana again next year, I will make sure to come back again.

David is patient and methodical in his approach and really tailors each pose to your stage of development. Even when I have been in classes that include very advanced practitioners I never felt "behind" or out of place - moving at your own pace is key. Over the years pre-pandemic I could really feel my body shifting out of long held bad posture, pronation, etc. -- into correct alignment. Each session leaves you refreshed with a new understanding of what you are capable of. David brings an extraordinary wealth of knowledge and commitment to the practice -- a great sense of humour! - I highly recommend it.
