Henry Mayo Fitness and Health - Pilates Classes

Henry Mayo Fitness and Health

I can't not rave enough about this place!!…read more As a mom of two trying to get back in the gym it feels extremely intimidating, but Henry Mayo does not in the slights make you feel like that at all. I have been coming here for almost a year , 4 days out of the week , every week! I have built strong bonds and a comfort here. I unfortunately left and tried LA Fitness and after 3 days I canceled my membership and went back to Henry Mayo ! It is well worth every penny , especially the kids club! Moms, if you're looking for a SAFE AND CLEAN place to leave your children, so you can take time for you , this is the place !! The absolute best care and kindness they provide is hard to find. I sometimes find them holding my child for the entire hour or falling asleep in their arms !!

After a couple of heart attacks in 2024, I went through the Cardiac Rehab program at Henry Mayo…read moreNewhall Hospital. Once I completed that, I wanted to maintain my cardio program, and joined the Henry Mayo Fitness and Health Center. I really like this place, for several reasons. I can actually get free memberships at several local gyms through my insurance, but I'd rather pay to go here. It's a more mature crowd, with most people either doing some sort of rehab or physical fitness. It's not a social club or hang out, everyone is serious about what they're doing. I don't have much experience in gyms, but from what I see, they have plenty of cardio machines (treadmills, crossfits, arm ergos, upright and reclining bikes) as well as weight stations with both plate weights and resistance. There are free weights as well and all kinds of support stuff like mats, stretch bands, etc. The place is spotless, with constant cleaning going on, and everyone seems to take the time to wipe their stations down after use. I don't use these areas, but they have beautiful locker rooms, showers, basketball courts and a pool that is half indoor/half outdoor. The staff is friendly and helpful, and available for personal training if you desire. They have tons of classes from spin to balance. Downstairs, there is an advanced weight training room. I go three times a week and always look forward to it. I highly recommend you check them out.

LA Fitness - Some of the pads are cracked and super sharp.

I am writing this review to formally express a serious concern regarding the Valencia LA Fitness…read morelocation. On Monday, I attended a kickboxing class in the studio and the room was extremely hot due to a lack of air conditioning. The thermostat showed a temperature of 90 degrees, creating unsafe and completely intolerable conditions. It was so uncomfortable that I genuinely felt like I might faint, and several other members also looked visibly affected. It was clear the environment was not safe for a high-intensity workout. Kickboxing is already a demanding physical activity, and without proper cooling or ventilation, it becomes a real health risk. This goes beyond discomfort and enters the territory of heat exhaustion and dehydration. As a fitness facility, LA Fitness has a responsibility to ensure workout spaces are safe, and this location failed to meet that standard. Because the class could not be safely completed, I am requesting that this issue be properly addressed and corrected to ensure the studio's HVAC system is fully inspected, repaired, and maintained so that safe temperatures are consistently upheld during all classes. I am also requesting written confirmation that the issue has been resolved and that appropriate corrective action has been taken. I expect a written response confirming the steps taken to fix this issue, along with documentation of the corrective action, no later than 7 business days from the date of this message. If I do not receive a timely response within that timeframe, I will escalate this matter further. At the time of the class, there was no immediate acknowledgment or resolution offered. Members should not be expected to risk their health or lose value due to preventable facility issues. I strongly urge management to take this seriously, ensure proper temperature control for all future classes, and provide written confirmation that corrective action has been completed. Safety should always come first, especially in group fitness environments. I hope this issue is resolved promptly and appropriately so that no one else has to experience unsafe conditions like this again.

There's something for every fitness level and goal, so it's easy to stay motivated and keep workouts interesting. The coaches are knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely invested in helping everyone succeed. They create a positive and supportive environment while making each class both challenging and fun. The atmosphere is another standout. Everyone is welcoming, friendly, and respectful, making it a place you actually look forward to coming back to. If you're looking for a gym with excellent classes, amazing coaches, and a great community, I highly recommend this one.

I recently tried a few other gyms, and while they were okay, they just didn't compare to Afterburn. At first, the membership price might seem like a lot, but once you compare the pricing to other gyms and what's included with Afterburn it feels worth it. Keep an eye out because they do have specials for new clients often! ;) And if you know someone who already comes to Afterburn, you can do a "friend referral" that can help you both. ;) The trainers here are incredible. They push you to become stronger while also encouraging you every step of the way, literally! On the days when I want to give up, they're the ones reminding me that I can do hard things. As someone who started out overweight and out of shape, I can honestly say I've never once felt judged. The trainers create such a positive environment, and the members are just as welcoming and supportive. One thing I really appreciate is that the classes never feel overcrowded. Unlike other gyms where you're packed in like sardines, there's plenty of space to work out comfortably. What really makes Afterburn different is the community they've built. They don't just focus on workouts--they focus on their people. From holiday events and team challenges to themed workouts and brunch workouts, they create opportunities for everyone to connect, have fun, and make lasting memories. It feels like you can build friendships here. I also love the new sauna and cold plunge. I use them regularly, and they're always clean, well-maintained, and never overcrowded. If you're overweight or you're just trying to get back on track, don't let the financial fear hold you back. The trainers will help you build healthier habits without breaking your budget. I realized that by cutting back on fast food and making better choices, I was actually saving money--enough to help cover my membership. That's an investment that pays you back in your health. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend taking advantage of the 3-day trial. Walk through the doors, give it a chance, and see what it's all about. By the end of the year, you'll be glad you started. Afterburn won't change your life for you--but if you're willing to show up and let them help you, I truly believe they can help you build a stronger, healthier, and happier version of yourself. The hardest part is taking that first step.

So never hesitate; if you've been wanting to join a gym for a while now, EOS is the place to be. Sign up now. There are pros and cons to everything, and this fitness center is no exception. Pros: Affordable--you have three different plans to choose from, the highest being around $30 a month with all the perks, including a sauna and ice bath. And the current basic plan (WILL DO) is roughly $13 a month. There is a one-time annual fee of around $60. Clean--for the most part. I haven't been in a gym bathroom that was totally up to my standards, but I'm just picky. EOS's baths are a step up from your popular gyms like 24 hr. Fitness. They have a nice spaced-out locker room with locks to rent. Vanity mirrors with blow dryers. I haven't been in the showers, but they look wide and clean. Same for the bathroom stalls and urinals. This has to be the biggest gym locker room I've been in so far! An added bonus is it doesn't smell like sweaty body odor either. Atmosphere--this one really depends on the area you're in (I guess...). I joined EOS in Valencia, CA, so the staff and people are very friendly. It's definitely a "safe-space" gym for someone who's new to working out around others. Yeah, you get the occasional grunts and weight drops with a loud bang (I'm guilty of this too), but overall there's always a cool vibe happening here. Cons: Machines break a lot--not sure if maintenance is as active in fixing the gym equipment as in other fitness centers I've belonged to in the past. It can get frustrating if you have a favorite treadmill you like walking on and find out it's broken down most of the time. Lack of space--this could be a location problem, so take it with a grain of salt, but EOS in Valencia at certain times (7-9pm) feels like you're exercising in a sardine can. The number of people is ridiculous, and wait times for even Barbells can be twenty minutes long. Lack of Equipment Volume--as it says, they only have a couple of major machines that help with body growth, like the hack squat machine and leg press. Again, I feel it's just a logostics problem. The lack of space in a small gym could be the problem. On the upside, these machines have shorter wait times and haven't broken down since I joined a few months ago. Conclusion Join EOS for around $84. That's their basic WILL DO plan ($13 per month); it gets you in the door and access to all their equipment.

My experience at Ultra Jiu Jitsu Academy has changed my life for the better. Professor Dixon, Professor Pedro and Professor Skye are elite instructors.
