A sizable and respectable collection of vinyl heaters, slappers, and boppers can be found at the Power Plant on any given day of the week. I have been to the plant to power up a few times now, and this music spot never ever lets me down. The New Wave section is particularly good. I saw plenty of essential New Wave LP such as The Cure, Depeche Mode, The B-52s, and Bananarama. The Soul/Funk section featured some solid/original James Brown LPS, Herbie Hancock, WAR, and LTD. The prices here are fair. Not the most absolutely fabulous prices ever, but the shrewd crate digger can certainly come away with a good record at a decent price at this location. I think most of the sought after contemporary LPS are around 20 to 30 dollars. No absurd or exorbitant price points here. This place does appear to know that it can sell essential classic rock, New Wave, and Hip Hop to its local customer base. The staff manifested a markedly friendly demeanor. The woman working the front took all of my questions about the inventory, and she traded a few one liners and observations with my about some truck driver who went out of his way to toot his horn at the store; I guess it is some kind of inside joke between the owner and the truck driver. In any case, she found the honking mildly jarring. Geese, one never knows what behavior will fly at a record store. Power to the plant; not to to the weird truckers.

Scored unbelievable OG Punk Rock classics at Power Plant Records in San Clemente!!!

Power Plant Records is the bomb! All genres of music from Miles Davis, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and ALL the best of 70's and 80's Punk to all of the newest releases available on real vinyl records!!! This is an old school music shop the way music stores used to be with a staff of real music fans who will help you find classic treasures or order anything you want along with helping you choose a record player or turntable to fit your budget AND music lessons for those who want to take their passion to the next level. Power Plant Records is right off the 5 Freeway at Pico in San Clemente with tons of parking and is THE place to go for Old School music lovers who remember the magic of listening to real vinyl records or Newbies looking for their first record player and just getting started.

    Engineering a masterpiece

Biff has been a magician when it comes to engineering my songs. My mix always comes out exactly how I want. He's very good at helping you hone in on your vision of how you want your song to come out. He's worked on most of my projects and any success that I've accrued is highly in part because of his work. You need to record and here!

Everyone that works there is super friendly and helpful. And just like any great record store, the staff always has amazing recommendations for new music to check out. The store is just the right size to not be overwhelming, everything is well organized, and there is enough room in the bins to make it easy to flip through the records. 10 out 0f 10 for shoppability. In addition to a great new and used vinyl selection, they also carry cd's, cassettes, turntables, speakers, stickers, action figures, t-shirts and more. If you're into music, then you'll definitely find something you need at Moldy Toes. And on the off chance that you don't find something you want, there are lots of other cool little shops to check out in the neighborhood.

Inside, they have a good amount of records to dig through with all different genres. The records are organized nicely and prices are fair. All of the staff here are also very friendly and helpful. This FoL is the best I've visited. Yes, there are bigger ones, and yes, there are some that are…read moremore easily accessible from the street, but the SC location takes the cake for a few reasons. First, the volunteers. Other FoL have friendly volunteers as well, but the ladies volunteering here take it up a notch. They are super friendly, very engaging, and they take requests for specific books and can contact you if the books come in! They keep the place meticulous as well and know not only what they have when asked, but where books are or should be. When we were there, they also had music going from their collection of CDs. Second, the selection. Yes, they have books of most genres. They also have DVDs, games (board, console, and puzzle), CDs, and magazines. BUT! They also have a "Unique Finds" section with an ecclectic mix of books and genres, mostly vintage editions. I saw some from the late 1800s and early 1900s. They also have a "Classics" section with older and newer editions of classics such as Shakespeare, Homer, etc. What's also really cool is that they have complete sets of certain collections. And they have orange page inserts (see pics) that say a bit about the edition of the book. Super cool! Apparently they get a lot of donations from travelers who buy books for plane rides and drop the books off after they land. So they also have a lot of recent books. Third, the ambiance. Super friendly and relaxing, and music going makes for a good time! I wish they carried vinyl like a couple other FoL! Last, they accept credit cards! Most FoL I've visited only accept cash, and the fact at the SC location accepts credit is a nice bonus. Especially since they have such a wide selection! The SC FoL is located adjacent to the SC Public Library. I recommend using the parking lot in the back instead of street parking. The entrance is on the street side, but it's easy to either walk through the library or walk around to get to the FoL. There's also a large lawn adjacent to the FoL building where I saw some people lounging and reading. Super relaxing atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Strong Recommendation for Phil and Downsizing Solutions…read more It's so important to hire someone who truly knows what they're doing when handling an estate sale. Unfortunately, my recent sellers chose a company on their own, and in my opinion, they were greatly taken advantage of. The experience reminded me just how exceptional Phil and his team at Downsizing Solutions are. Phil is, without question, one of the best estate sale professionals I've ever worked with. To give some perspective, the company my sellers used spent only three days going through the home, while Phil typically dedicates two to three weeks to carefully sort, organize, and price everything so each item is displayed and visible. This particular home was filled with high-end items, many brand new and countless tools and collectibles stored in every room and closet. The other company didn't set up enough display tables, leaving many valuable items unseen and underpriced. In contrast, Phil and his team use every available space, even setting up tables in the backyard if needed, ensuring that everything is visible and well-presented. Phil consistently draws large crowds, often with hundreds of people lined up before the sale even opens, and his sales generate strong returns for sellers. He also goes above and beyond after the sale, working closely with clients to organize donations and provide documentation for tax write-offs. It's difficult to see clients taken advantage of, especially when they simply didn't know the difference in quality and professionalism among estate sale companies. I did recommend Phil, but they chose someone who was personally connected to the deceased. It was a hard lesson learned, and I want to make sure others don't have the same experience. If you ever need someone reliable, professional, and truly dedicated to helping clients get the best results from an estate sale, I can only recommend Phil and Downsizing Solutions. Just wanted to share this for future reference, he's the best there is. Warm regards, Bridget Steffensen

Had a terrible experience with Phil from Downsizing Solutions LA at one of his sales recently…read more He says his sales are organized - far from it and there's a serious lack of communication between team members. His team all seemed to be unhappy. I would be too if I worked for a short-tempered and crooked boss like him. If you're a good judge of character, just take one look at him and you can tell he's not a good guy. Watch out for being overcharged! He'll take the opportunity any chance he can. I witnessed him overcharging another customer, and then it happened to us immediately after. When the other customer brought it to his attention, he forcefully and rudely handed her the money back while borderline cursing at her. Unbelievable. We're the only reason why you're even in business, buddy! When we brought to his attention about us being overcharged, we got nothing but attitude and rudeness. We were finally able to recover the money he shorted us, only after having to threaten to report him. Avoid this company. There are dozens and dozens of other estate sale companies to support. Message to Phil: You should consider being a politician instead...better fit for you.
