Besides, I brought my puppy back (09/16/2024) about 2 wks after the 09/04/24 treatment date -- due to the fact that their treatment was useless, didn't result in any improvement for the ear infection symptoms were still there: I explained the situation & they took my puppy away for no more than 3 minutes. And the vet came back admitted that the last treatment doesn't work & told me to buy a new medication to treat my puppy at home. Not only that they refused to honor the cost of the previous treatment, they charged me additional $122.62! Thus, please be aware & inquire all necessary info prior to your next visit -- so that you can make a more informed decision... By the way, I searched online at Amazon.com & found this TRIS Ear Flush from Pet MD for both dog & cat's ear infection treatment for only $16.99 -- Boy, it works like magic! Wish I knew...

I would not recommend Wizard of Paws! I went to the Mystic office for three years and Becki is the…read moreonly reason I stayed that long. Debbie is only concerned about herself and her boyfriend, Skip. She is not at all concerned about the well-being of the clients. Here is my experience: after the initial evaluation I didn't see Debbie, "The Wizard" (who is not a doctor even though she refers to herself as one), very often. Becki was the one my dog saw on a regular basis. Debbie did email me occasionally to check on my dog's progress and would examine my dog every few months to make sure she was headed in the right direction. As the months went by there were false promises of a new location, the space in Mystic that Debbie rented was dingy, dirty, and smelly, but my dog did make good progress, so I stuck with it. I recommended many people to Wizard of Paws and they all ended up taking their dogs there also. Business was booming and everyone I talked to was happy with the care their dogs were receiving. Everyone agreed that the building was awful and a new location was a must. Debbie continued to promise it was in the works. The building they were in was shared with another business therefore there hours were restricted. This was a problem for some people who worked and needed evening appointments. But overall the feedback I was hearing was very positive. As time went on we saw Debbie less and less. She would say she would be there and then not show up. Becki was wonderful and was really running the business by herself. Then at the beginning of this year things started to really change. Becki was away for a week racing in the CAM AM 250 and Debbie was seeing the clients. When I arrived for my appointment Debbie was on the phone with her boyfriend, Skip, owner of local restaurants, when she was finished with her phone call she seemed annoyed to be there. She put my dog on the ball and did very little work with her. Then she had her go in the treadmill. While my dog was in the treadmill she was on the phone with her boyfriend again and then before I know it she was draining the water from the treadmill. Debbie had half-assed my dog's session and it was obvious she didn't want to be there. I was shocked, this is the owner of the business, and she didn't care. I had been looking forward to my dog's session with Debbie because we hadn't seen her in months. I was hoping this would be a great and informative session and it was just the opposite. I also found out that Debbie had canceled most clients sessions that week. At our next session the following week, with Becki, it became even clearer that my dog's previous session with Debbie was not up to par and really a waste of time and money. I emailed Debbie expressing my confusion and concern and she sent back a flippant response. I was really disappointed by this and her lack of interest in the clients. I felt that the care my dog was receiving from Becki was very beneficial and I continued to bring her weekly. But I could tell things were different, talk of a new location stopped, the hours were cut back without explanation, and clients stopped going. The icing on the cake for me was when my dog started limping on her shoulder again and I asked Debbie if she would examine her. She said she would be happy to and would be at her next session. When we arrived to the session, once again Debbie seemed annoyed to be there. She spent less than ten minutes with my dog and didn't provide any helpful information. Becki then did the normal session with my dog and Debbie left. Over a month later we were at a session and Becki told me my package was up. I knew I had another session left and voiced this to her. She then informed me that when Debbie had come in to examine my dog over a month ago she had charged me an extra session without telling me. I was livid; I sent Debbie a message right away inquiring about the extra charge without my knowledge. She had examined my dog many times over the three years we had been going there on a weekly basis. I had spent thousands there and recommended many clients. I felt like she was trying to take advantage. She is the owner of the business; it is her job to examine the dogs especially when there is a problem, at least that's what I had been led to believe all these years. I now know that I am not the only client that has been charged without their knowledge and that's not right. She sent me back a very passive-aggressive and immature response and talking about policy change and things that had nothing to do with the situation. My dog only had one session left in the package and I was not planning to purchase another. In her response she also mentioned other locations of physical therapist, the closest being in Providence. It's really too bad that something that had such potential to be a great addition to our town turned out to be such a disappointment.

No wonder vets across the country are suicidal! They want to help animals, but prices are sky rocketing and people move onto where they can afford. Very nicely I asked her 2x if she can give me a BALLPARK price of what neuter for a male cat costs at their clinic. She tells me she can give me a price of an office visit. ??? Is that what I asked? You do not recall 2-3 different totals for a neuter to give a client an estimate???? As in it's in 200's it's in 400's - so a person has SOME idea what you charge? I tried explaining that he prefers being shaved in the summer as he's a long hair triple coated cat and has always been more energetic in the summer with a fresh cut, and she said no. Eventually I let her clean him and brush his hair as he has been playing on the balcony more often lately due to the weather, and when I got him back, there was no difference. He was sticky as if they used no rinse shampoo on him and to set it off, there was a bug on the carrier when I picked him up! I was looking forward to bringing my Labrador puppy to this veterinary office, but my experience…read morewas disappointing before we even had our first appointment. After I scheduled my puppy's first visit, I was contacted a few days later and told that I had to pay a $70 no-show/cancellation fee upfront or my appointment would be canceled. I was then informed that my puppy would not be seen unless the fee was paid first. I understand that veterinary offices have cancellation policies, but the way this situation was handled felt unnecessarily rigid and unwelcoming. Rather than working with me or discussing any options, the office chose to cancel my puppy's first visit over the fee. First impressions matter, and this experience left me feeling like policies were prioritized over building relationships with new clients and providing compassionate customer service. Because of this experience, I decided to take my puppy to another veterinary practice. I hope the office will consider handling situations like this with more understanding and flexibility in the future.
