That was the first service. Because I was impressed I also had them do the rebuild. Literally a third of my ceiling needed to be replaced. You have to look really hard, and know it's there, to tell where the wallboard was replaced. They even closely matched the ceiling pattern! The team was phenomenal, polite, friendly, helpful and skilled. An all around exceptional experience. Value was very good too. Luis sent his guys over to resolve the issue, but instead of properly addressing the true issue, they glued the planks down. As time passed, more planks started to come up. It turns out that they never laid down a moisture barrier, so I'm at risk of eventually having to replace the entire flooring down the line. I expressed this discovery to Luis and nothing.... not a response, not an explanation, just a read text message. He doesn't return phone calls, nothing. He's there in the moment, fools you into thinking all is well, and just cuts you off. Be careful and do your homework before hiring Morningstar Restoration. These guys aren't true professionals, just a bunch of his friends that have some experience. Not to mention, they used 2 different brands of vinyl planks, prompting them to modify one type to align with the other. Per true professionals, this was a lazy and cheap installation. The fact that I have to call Luis from random numbers to get a response, the fact that he's aware of my issue and won't even acknowledge me... this is what speaks to his character. At first, my senior citizen wife was very pleased with their proactive approach; however, we soon realized that their eagerness was mainly driven by the desire to get her to sign a contract, without proper review by us or any legal expertise. The contract contains a provision for a 20% penalty on any changes to the scope of work. There are items in this contract that are not identified as a fixed price, but as cost allowances which permit the contractor to inflate prices after execution of the contract. For example, a contractor might offer $2.00 per square foot for the flooring allowance, then later present an inflated price of $6 per square foot after the contract is signed. We learned about this deceptive practice after speaking with flooring stores, who also told us the contractor doesn't follow proper installation methods, so his work isn't covered by the product warranty. We also discovered the contractor was not adding our name to the product warranty. If you choose not to proceed with the work because you disagree with the contractor's inflated price, the contractor will bill you for a 20% penalty and keep your initial upfront payment. The contractor's final statement is: "If you don't pay me, I'm going to sue you--I have a contract." to my wife.
