Came to visit my step brother who is a resident of Manna Acute Care Facility. I am from out of town…read moreso my review is of my experience for two days of visits. The building is a bit older but is kept up fairly well. The smells of a care home are present but not as strong as some other care facilities that I have been to due to the staff always cleaning. The staff are wonderful and friendly and seem to take great care of their residents. Two people particularly stood out from my visit, Candice who was very friendly and was the one of the primary nurses assigned to my step brother's area. He required a lot of attention and Candice was always very polite and patient and assisted my stepbrother as best as she could. We also met Cam who was also very friendly and seems to genuinely care for the residents. He always had a smile on his face and would give a smile to residents as he passed by them. He told me he loved his job and that he genuinely cared for the residents. It showed watching him work for 2 days during my visits. I rarely post reviews but because I was pleasantly surprised at how awesome this place was, I thought I would write a review to let people know of my awesome experience at Manna Acute Care in Pickens, SC.

This place doesn't even deserve ONE star. It's the biggest shit hole. My grandmother just left…read moreTODAY. Was told she could walk. NOPE. She's been there for almost two months... what have yall been doing??? Just chomping it up and playing monopoly????? We Came home I mean was she even in rehab and doing therapy?????? Or did you just lay her there in the bed all day????? Not only did you send her home like this. She was severely dehydrated and she told us she asked for water all day yesterday and you failed to bring it to her..She said the care there was awful and everytime we went and spoke to anyone about it we were told it got handled or they don't know what we were talking about-- so she is back in the hospital today.....now let's talk about the facility it smells like the back end of a horse...people in wheel chairs rolling around with their pee bags so full it's spilling on the floor. It's AWFUL. When I say I wouldn't let my dog stay here- I wouldn't. I seriously wouldn't even store barn animals here. I mean just walk in the front doors of this place it's like an adult playground. You have to literally go around a maze of elderly people in wheelchairs chairs to get through the front desk and door and don't forget hold your nose or you'll pass out from the strong smell of piss as you pass through the hallway to make your way to the back to see your family who is in rehab who is clearly not even in rehab they just sit back there in bed...Take your review for yourself once you walk in I mean I literally don't even have to say anything. Oh and by the way they sent us home with someone else's paper work. So that's a HIPAA VIOLATION. They called us wanting us to bring it back up there and so that means we went home with ZERO paperwork for our patient. THINK TWICE BEFORE TAKING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE! I cannot believe we had her there. I honestly will never forgive myself for having her here and I don't know how any of those people that work there even sleep at night. Don't even bother leaving a phone number or commenting back below your sorry or thanking me for my review because you weren't worried about when we were there. This review right here is for all the people who google this place who may want to look into for there loved one it's not for a call back or to hear from you trust me I already know that goes no where with yall.

If I could give this place a minus 10 score, I would. My loved one was in Heartland East 14 days…read more Three days after she was discharged from there, she was admitted to the hospital with a Staph infection of her incision, sepsis, pneumonia, and Covid. The last day she was in Heartland, she lay in feces which covered her incision, and was lying in sheets she tried to clean herself with, and the floor and her brief were also soiled for minutesfrom where she tried to make it to the bathroom. The sitter who came on duty at 7am had to go to the desk where her medical person was sitting , three times to ask her to please come attend to her. I hired sitters 24/7, but they would not allow sitters or family to stay with the patient at night. Their policy. They said they checked patients every two hours.Evidently staff on the exiting and arriving shifts had not checked on her as often as they should. The majority of staff were surly, displayed aggravation when asked anything, and made no attempt to introduce themselves or to try to be helpful. The person dispensing meds was talking on a personal phone call and did not answer a light or check on a man who was yelling for help for 20 minutes two rooms down from where she was standing. The valance and curtains were dusty, with dust flying over the room when the window air conditioner came on. The wheelchair she used had one broken leg and a broken brake. It had not been cleaned and had thick collections of grime on metal surfaces. A large styrofoam cup with ice water was given out each shift. No bedside pitcher and you had to ask for more water I cannot believe Medicare allows this place to take patients.

An older woman was learning to use her walker and I was wedged into a section next to a wheelchair (unoccupied) and right across from where she was practicing. There was no real problem except I felt that I was intruding and to leave that area meant maneuvering around her, her walker, her husband and her therapist to get to the other "U" configuration of seating where another couple was already ensconced. My therapist, Sara, was friendly and upbeat and encouraging about my therapy plan. Unfortunately, the room was HOT AS BLUE BLAZES!! She agreed it was warm and offered me the clip board with my records as a make-do fan. It helped. Nonetheless,by the time I was being checked and manipulated, I was a sweaty mess. She was clear about her suggestions for my therapy and I left understanding what my course of treatment will be. When I was scheduling for my next treatments, there were staff loudly discussing the weekend , and others asking why people did something a certain way and the answer was "Because they're MEN!" Perhaps this type of dialogue might be better limited to the break room? There is ample parking very convenient to the exterior door and the practice is immediately inside that door so all that was quite convenient.
