I called ahead to ask about the apple fritters as they sell out soon! I'm from out of town and my family received a box of goodies as a condolence gift I hadn't eaten much after our loss but the box of Apple fritters changed all that I had one in each hand! They were so delicious! In fact before i left I stopped in to buy as many as I could to bring home. The lady running it was THE SWEETEST and so helpful! It doesn't look it. It doesn't even feel it as you go in. But I'm here to tell you this place is a gem in Powderly, KY. I'm over in this area every couple of months, and I always make sure to stop by. They recently moved from the old KFC building to a new one, and it is much nicer inside. But the place is called Powderly Donuts, so I have to comment on that. The glazed donuts here might be the best I've had anywhere. No joke. The other donuts, pastries, and such are good as well (I'm an apple fritter guy myself), but the glazed are not to be overlooked. Make sure you get yourself at least one. Best anywhere, y'all. How is the coffee? I don't know. I don't drink coffee. But I eat donuts. And I've already told you that they are awesome. The other striking aspect of the place are the owners. They are pleasant, kind, and helpful. Or, as I like to think of it, exactly what you need in the morning, which is when most people eat donuts, right? Any caveats? They seem to run out of certain donuts by late morning, which is usually when I roll in after church. But they always have had those heavenly glazed donuts available, so you should be good even if they are out of something else. Look, Powderly isn't a huge town. Get over here and support the local donut geniuses...if for no other reason than to make sure they're open when I come rolling back into town. read more

We are staying on Lake Malone nearby for vacation. After four days of not leaving our rental property except to fish we decided to venture out. We had heard Powderly Donuts had great donuts. We got to town a little late (we are on vacation so no alarm clocks). They were out of Kolaches due to our late arrival. We may go back to try those because they are something we have never had before. The donuts were amazing and the service was outstanding. They were only doing drive up and with three kids that meant a little bit of decision time. Haha. They were patient, kind, and friendly. Our eleven year old who doesn't eat sweets (I know... How does a child not like sweet food right?) said she would eat the donut holes everyday if she could. The two younger kids loved their filled donuts. The consensus in our family was these are better than that one famous "hot now" chain that everyone, including Dad, always have to stop at. The donuts are light and airy.
