I had previously taken in a 2005 Lotus Elise to have the hardtop roof relined with leather and Raul did a great job. Such a good job that I decided to bring in my other car, a 2010 Tesla Roadster to have the roof lining redone on that car. I had previously had the interior redone with diamond stitching and asked Raul to match the stitching and leather type and color. He did an amazing job and the price was great! I highly recommend Poway Auto Upholstery for anything you need done.

I would give them 10 stars if I could!!! They did an amazing job designing (I just showed him pictures of our boat and Raul created), sewing, and installing new upholstery for our boat. And they have amazing customer service - everyone went above and beyond. I think the best service in the industry! Raul and his crew went above & beyond to finish my front seats & steering wheel in time for a car show. Outstanding work with quality materials and very friendly guys!

The staff is very friendly but seem to lack the expertise to do the job properly. I took my car in and wanted the OEM headliner. Well, what I got looked like the basic headliner as it was more rough than smooth from the sample they showed me. When they put it in and said my car was ready, the fabric wasn't even adhering to the liner. I had to take my car back to have it redone. I still ended up with the basic headliner and not the one I paid for. The headliner wasn't the only problem. I noticed that they had broken the sun visor clips that are used to lock the sun visors in place on both the driver and passenger side and tried to cover it up by screwing them in rather than getting new ones. I had to order them myself and brought them back to have them replaced. They were nice enough to do it for me and reimburse me for the cost of the clips. I was ok with this and had forgiven them for lying to me and not telling me they broke anything. I had asked if there was anything else damaged that I needed to know about and they said no, just those. However, when I was cleaning my car a couple weeks ago I had noticed that the cover near the back of the passenger seat was broken. This must've happened when they removed the seat to take the headliner out of the car. It is noticeably glued back together. They failed to tell me that they broke this as well. If they can't be honest with you when they break something and try to cover it up, then a business just isn't worth going to. Even though the headliner looks ok, I will probably get it redone in the future at another shop with the OEM material I requested and with a shop that can be honest when they break something in your car. Offering to fix it and reimburse for the part is a nice offer, but really, it is something they should tell the customer about when it happens and not try to cover it up. Now I have to replace another part on my car that is hard to find. I only gave 2 stars because Raul was really helpful and tried to help fix everything that was messed up by his staff.

I totally agree with the review about the one done on the boat. Originally we went to Poway Auto Upholstery with the assumption that with 4.8 stars of reviews, this place would provide "professionalism" and business ethics. We took 2 table tops to have reupholstered for our physical therapy clinics. The owner kept talking about guaranteed customer service satisfaction. So the first pickup, there were problems at the top and bottom of the face hole, among other things. We talked to him for quite a bit. He said that he would fix the issues and that he guarantees customer satisfaction. He 'promised' that if we're not satisfied, we can take the tables back with the condition that he removes the materials he supplied. We agreed. Who would've thought on the 2nd visit to pick up the 2 table tops, things turned uglier than before. Instead of replacing the fabric with a new one, he left nothing but a clear view of shoddy workmanship. Holes from previous staples could be seen all over. He stapled everything literally on the edge of the fabric where one tear would become a domino effect to disaster. What happened next was a nightmare! We tried to communicate with the owner about taking the table tops back; and he could remove the materials. The owner became very aggressive and raising his voice stating "What? You think you can come here and expect my work to be free!" He was contradicting everything he previously promised and stated. The owner wanted us to pay the full price for something that will rip soon due to the inferior workmanship he provided. He stated we have to pay $100 dollars per striped table in order to take them back. This took place within a 2 week period where we wasted so much time going back and forth from Escondido to Poway. I went back to the work place where I had someone speak Spanish to him; because most of the time I had a hard time communicating with him. We tried to resolve the matter by paying $100 dollars per table top to return our tables. The owner made it impossible to communicate. One minute he wants cash; which we don't use as payments for our business, then he stated we could pay by credit card. We offered him a check and he refused. He then stated he would only accept cash. By the way, we told him from the start that we have over 25 table tops which need to be reupholstered. I am so frustrated regarding this matter as to what business would do such unprofessional work! It was just the beginning with these 2 table tops, and he is willing to blow the rest of the business income he could have made. I would definitely think twice before taking anything to this company. Very unprofessional and lousy business ethics!

Overall, very happy with the project just completed by Raul at Poway Auto Upholstery. First, the project - replace seat covers for my front bucket (2) and rear bench seat for my BMW M3. I shopped the job around and felt buying factory direct parts was overly expensive and time consuming and arrived at Raul who's solution was custom leather. He helped me select replacement leather and even offered a design upgrade that resulted in a snazzy silver stripe down each seat, helping to accentuate the lines of the car. He even helped with the worn center console, replacing the leather on that. The price he quoted was lower than I expected, less than half the cost to procure and install factor certified seat covers from another shop. The install of the seats was super convenient, he completed all work on time and my car was only there for basically a day. The seats look brand new, although the center console doesn't fit exactly perfectly as it used to. Overall, excellent experience and a major project that I'm very pleased with.

GREAT work. I was well accommodated I needed to drop my truck off the day before it was going to be worked on, there was no problem and a big help to me. I had my roof liner redone. I was told it would be ready by the end of business day, it was completed 2.5 hours ahead of time. The finished work was better than I had expected, first class workmanship. Raul and his sons are magic workers! I brought in my 97 F150 with a sagging and blown out driver seat cushion with minor tears in the fabric. He came out and looked it over and quoted me a VERY reasonable price. His quote was lower than his competitors while also performing more work to the seat. All I can say is WOW, what a difference. The seat looks absolutely brand new. He replaced the dilapidated foam, replaced the piping fabric, replaced the torn bolster fabric, added foam just above the seat springs, and added reinforcement springs, ALL UNDER CUTTING HIS COMPETITION. Needless to say I was more than happy with my final result. On top of all of this fabulous work they did, they completed the job in just a couple of hours. I'm definitely bringing more of my upholstery needs to Raul and his fine family. read more

This is the second vehicle we have taken to Poway Auto Upholstery to get car upholstery repair. First it was our Ford F150 and today we took in our 11 year old Mazda 3 hatchback. The driver seat had a seam coming apart quite a bit. They were very reasonable on the price and did not try to up-sell us on getting the whole seat reupholstered. He simply did the repair required to minimize cost. And wow, what an excellent job they did! You cannot even tell that a repair was done. I called about repairing a rip on an old convertible top for a Jeep. He told me to stop by in a few days and he would take care of it. When I came by, he dropped everything he was doing and helped carry the top inside. Within a few minutes, he repaired the tear. He also restitched an entire side and added reinforcement in another weak area. He charged a fair price too and I would go back if needed. read more

I have a 2008 LS460L and the driver's side door panel/armrest was starting to chip away (cost new was $1800-3k) and they were on backorder. I found Poway Upholstery online and decided to swing by. Raul was very approachable and customer oriented. Went in to see if I could have the door paneling armrests repaired and he said it would be no problem. Not only did he repair them, he and his team made them look better than the original look (fine detailed stitching and all). He also squeezed me into an already two week booked schedule and completed the repairs in one day. They did such fine work, that I immediately took my truck in for overhead roof material repair and again they did not disappoint (cost was extremely reasonable and he guarantees his work for a minimum of 5yrs). I will for sure be returning for any upholstery needs in the future. read more

I have lived in Poway almost 20 years and was unaware of this auto upholstery shop until I had to pick up a family member at a repair shop next door to Poway Auto Upholstery. While waiting I went in and got an estimate in regards to a three inch tear in my front right passenger seat. Raul the owner provided the estimate. Explained exactly what he was going to do. I scheduled the appointment and was told will be done in one day. On drop off day...Called me prior to estimated completion time. I was totally shocked upon reviewing the work. As I have light beige seats in my Lexus, over the years the seats have aged and was worried the new material may show the age difference. Not so! Pleasantly surprised! Raul took the time to clean the rest of the chair so that it would blend in. Beautiful job! Looks like a brand new seat! Will definitely be back if needed......BTW great price on top of quality....lower than other leading local upholstery shop. Thanks! read more

Raul replaced the sagging headliner in my 2007 VW Rabbit. It took about two days, and he did an excellent job for a reasonable price. This was a complicated job, as the car has a retracting moonroof with shade and lots of overhead switches and lights. Everything was put together properly, and neatly. Raul even replaced the lining under the shade (which did not have a problem), just to have an exact match with the new headliner material. If you looked at it, you wouldn't know that it isn't the original headliner. I know, because it's actually a little nicer (more cushion), than the original factory material. Anyway, if this is the repair you need, P.A.U. is the place to go. read more

I brought my 2008 Acura MDX in for some pretty dramatic cracking, rips, and tears in the leather seats. I was worried about the cost and if the color could be matched to the existing seats. After all, the remaining seats had some wear on them and darkened a bit over the years and only sections of the seats needed replacing. Raul did an AMAZING JOB and it was a very reasonable price. The interior looks brand new and you cannot tell the new from the old sections as it is a perfect match. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this business to anyone needing these type of services. read more

Raul is the real deal! My wife needed to have some stitching repaired on the drivers seat of her Toyota Sequoia. She took the car down to Raul who provided her with a quick and reasonable quote to complete the repair. The work was going to take 5 hours and my wife was not sure how she would be able to get a ride home after dropping the car off. Raul kindly offered to drop her off at our home AND offered to collect her when the job was done! Raul and his team did a fantastic job of the repair and were so kind and easy to deal with. It is so comforting to know that there are still small business owners out there who work hard and offer such great service to their customers. Thank you Raul. I came to reupholster my seats and they did a horrible job! There are many new issues as I was inspecting the work. Such as my carpet was torn to shreds near the seat, a problem that was not there before. These people had the audacity to hide this problem with my floor mats. As I told the owner about these new issues he took out my seat and walked away saying he will not compensate me for the damage. Save some self respect and pay more for a quality job. These people are unprofessional and do not know how to do a quality job. Their mediocre work has created new problems which will cost more than the seats did. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR OWN SAKE! read more

I'm a 75' Poway High Alumni and live in Penasquitos. My 2006 VW Touareg headliner delaminated and sagged, leaving the car looking terrible. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to sell the car (low mileage) for its high blue book price, but Poway Upholstery made it look like new. I thought it would take a couple days to finish.....but they knocked it out in 8hrs. I think I'll keep it now. Five stars! read more

These guys did an awesome job replacing the headliner in my '66 Mustang. WAY better than the original quality. They did it fast (one day) and fixed a hole in the carpet that saved me having to re-carpet the entire car. Also, they steam cleaned the seats and now they look new. The price was very reasonable too. I highly recommend them for any upholstery work. read more

I honestly thought with repeat customer they would be more accommodating. We built a banquet for our airstream and wanted an upholsterer who we could work with. We found communication very difficult and we're not happy with the result, so changed our mind on our RV seating and sold the first set Raul did to an airstream restorer. I then customized two jackknife frames and although that took more time than I expected, when I finally got everything to Raul (I had pre-paid for the foam in cash because of reading about supply issues) and brought him the fabric and the frames, I gave him two months for completion. He waited until the last day before our vacation to start on them, taking in other work he put ahead of mine, and when we installed them they squeaked every time we sat on them! Turns out he attached the fabric to the springs instead of the stay wires that are welded on for that purpose. His son gave me attitude that "supposedly" they had installed the fabric wrong (this is a simple wrap with hog rings to stretch the fabric, and I brought in original for their education!) and argued incessantly with me insisting that the seats did not actually squeak! They did take the sofas which are very bulky back into the shop but sounds by their tone they still didn't install the fabric correctly. Now we're having problems getting into the tight parking lot because of local road construction during his short operating hours of 9-5. He won't come in outside those hours when there is no road construction. And now our RV is at a shop for two weeks, and Raul's son is demanding we pick up the sofas (with no way to install them!). Please do not do business with this shop. You will be frustrated anyway, and they don't deserve to be in business. read more

We own a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck which had a badly torn seat on the outer panel of the material. A friend of mine recommended this business as one which does excellent service and is very honest and trust-worthy. I meet with Raul, showed him our repair needs, and immediately sensed his honesty and self pride in his profession. We had him do the repair work on Friday, December 1, 2017. I cannot say enough about the quality of the work which he did for us. Raul's suggestions to ensure our satisfaction and a quality repair on our truck were beyond that normally found in today's workplace. Raul has great versatility on sewing projects. In my case the job was small. I needed him to make vinyl accent interior panel piping, restore interior backing to kick panels & vinyl cover those odd shapes for an old car I'm restoring. I have seen his beautifully completed upholstery work on boats, car interiors & sofas when picking up or dropping off my jobs. He will be my choice to staple my convertible top onto my restored MG when ready. He'll also sew new plastic transparent windows in convertible tops not needing other restoration work. Owners of restored cars are selective which vendors they use & based on his work & other owners I've met at his shop Raul is the go to guy you want to use for quality & economy. read more

Excellent work at a reasonable price! I drove over to poway-upholstery-poway shop a couple months ago to get a quote for replacing leather seat and carpet for my classic Corvette. He was straight forward about what's involved, how long it would take (and cost), and approved the catalog parts how I was getting the leather seat and carpet done. My wife and I dropped off our 1996 Saturn SL 2 in the morning which had a headliner held up by the sun visors and lots of masking tape. The center of the headliner was starting to come apart as well. Mr. Raul matched the color perfectly and completed the job on the same day! He has done some work for my Dad's truck which came out great. They did a great job repairing/replacing the bottom seat panels of my 2000 CLK430 Mercedes convertible. I had tears (rear to center "T" tear) at the seams. They replaced both bottom seat center panels and matched the same type and color (two-toned seats) leather---It looks great. Dropped it off on Sat. 5/9/15 at 9:30am and picked it up at 3:30pm same day, They did a great job. I wish I had more leather for them to repair. read more

I had eleven straps for fitness equipment that needed to be sewn. Because there was velcro on the straps it made it too tick for my sewing machine. I took the straps to a shoe repair place in Rancho Bernardo and he quoted me some outlandish price. I am so happy I found Poway Upholstery. I had a new convertible top installed on my 2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder. Raul did a superb job, looks exactly like the factory original.
