Can I point out that my inner Beavis would be proud that I used the word gash. Anyhow - back to the review. Jim did an amazing job of communicating expectations and being completely honest about what I could expect, and then went out of his way to schedule a visit out my way to check it out. Well, he showed up exactly when he said he would, and was super polite even though I'm a knucklehead and had him wait in his car for 15 minutes while I wrapped up a call. He was super friendly, got right down to business, and then gave me a very straightforward answer that made sense as to why he thought it was a bad idea to repair this particular gash. (that's three) What he told me made sense, and I appreciated his honesty. He could have easily gotten upset and then done something and charged me for it so as not to waste his time and energy, and I would have understood. Instead, he was direct and honest, and his reasoning was solid. I asked him what I could do for him, and he said nothing, shook my hand, and sped off to his next job. I know a lot of folks get on Yelp to whine about some bad experience they had. This is the second time in as many weeks that I have had an incredible experience with a small local business, I figured it deserved some sort of recognition. So Jim nailed it - set real expectations up front, was direct and correct about any changes, and was as friendly as a person could be. I then turned to Yelp to find a business in my area and came across The Prestige Companies Auto Upholstery. From the very beginning, The Prestige Companies Auto Upholstery demonstrated a strong commitment to customer service. I called and spoke with Matt, who asked me to send enough photographs for him to prepare an estimate by text. When I asked whether he needed to see the vehicle in person, Matt explained that he could provide the estimate from the photographs. This saved me time, and I received the estimate within about an hour. I was also pleased that the company was located nearby and able to service my vehicle. When I dropped off my vehicle, I worked with Matt to find a headliner material in the same color as the original. I also had a new wrap for my leather steering wheel, which was coming apart. In addition, I asked Matt to examine the leather cover on the driver's seat bottom, which was cracked and had foam falling apart. Matt said he would discuss the issue with his dad who was the owner. Matt called me within two days of dropping off the vehicle to provide an update. There had been a hiccup while they searched for the right leather, but when I explained that the vehicle had custom leather installed more than 20 years ago, Matt reassured me by saying, "Don't worry, we got you." I picked up my vehicle today and was very impressed with the work. The replacement headliner looked much better than the one originally installed by the manufacturer. The steering wheel wrap looked good, and the driver's leather seat was done well. Matt also told me that they had rebuilt the foam in the driver's seat.
