I was visiting the area with the wife and kids and we had just returned to our hotel from dinner with my boy Domingo (AKA uncle Mingo) and was on the fence if i wanted to go out and meet him for some drinks and what was most likely going ro be pretty decent music at a bar. The fam passed out pretty much immediately and left me trying to be quiet in a hotel room that was deafeningly quiet except for the noise my 3yr old made every two minutes tossing, turning and grunting with sleepy irritation at all the little noises i was making lol Domingo was in Carmel which was about 15 minutes away so i text for a recommendation on a good spot to hit by me and grab a drink. I think it was about 12:30am at the time. He didn't respond right away so i decided to look on yelp for some info and wasn't really looking too good. He ended up getting back to me and told me he was right down the street so I tried to get a Lyft which drivers kept canceling on me so by the time I finally gave up on that I think it was around 1:20am. To make a long story short he told me to walk it was only gonna take five minutes he was wrong he was actually nine minute walk no big deal but by the time I got to the bar it was 1:40 AM and as I crossed the street literally the moment that I stepped onto the sidewalk in front of the door to the establishment I hear over the speakers inside the security or bartender I'm not quite sure tell everyone thank you for coming out hope everyone had a good time but everyone has to get out we're closed lol. Domingo had already ordered me a drink and everything cause I told him I was two minutes away be ready and when I got there the security looked at me knowing I was about to try to pop in and basically without saying anything and turned his back on me. So I took it as a sign from the universe that this bar this night just wasn't meant to be. Domingo walks out a few minutes later after I told him I missed the cut off told me sorry I drank your drink "obviously lol" this was probably 1:48 AM now and Domingo asked me what I wanted to do next he said he could hit a couple people up that there's probably people hanging out but it wasn't gonna be close close to my hotel if that matters to me. I said let's find a liquor store and see if we can grab a bottle before 2 AM we had 12 minutes roughly and he said he wasn't sure about a liquor store but we could probably find a convenient store that sold beer at least. As you're walking in the car he found a spot that he said he thinks would be open we could give it a shot worst case if it wasn't there's a 711 a few feet from there so we headed to the liquor store which happened to be open thankfully. We had three minutes left on the clock when we walked in the door this place was incredible. You walk in and there's just bottles or bottles and bottles of some of the best selection I've seen in a liquor store especially one the size of this one. The lights were super bright I look over at Domingo and I'm like there's nobody here what are we gonna do we have three minutes left and then as I said that the owner walked out from the back door to greet us looked at his watch and said oh there's still time. I looked at him and said I wanted Don Folano reposado he said that it is an excellent selection but it's really hard to get, they don't have it. So I ended up going with a Case Noble Reposado instead (rough, i know). I complemented the Owner on his sophisticated selection of all spirits and pointed out that his store passed the vibe check, which was very bright and perky. The rest of the night turned out to be pretty dope and we were laughing because when we went back to the bar Domingo just left to pick up his buddies they were shocked that we came back with not only a bottle of liquor but a really good quality bottle of tequila. I was convinced that that store wasn't even real that the universe had just opened a portal and let us somehow keep the night going and that if I were to drive by next morning when I woke up it would be a vacant store with cobwebs in the windows like Addison 1980s movie or something lol.

My wife bought me a gift card in June for my birthday, I went in there today to try and use it and was told it was not valid bc of the change in ownership. Seems pretty ridiculous to pull that stunt over a $50 gift card when I bought over $100 in products and have been a repeat customer for a while. So it looks like I'll be going elsewhere from now on. As expected their whisky prices are all over the place, usually you're better off going to a grocery store or total wine if you're looking for spirits.
