My one piece of advice would be, if you see a bargin, grab it while you can as it may not be there next time you go. The staff are friendly and helpful but don't know themselves what is going to be on the next delivery. There is a small car park attached to store but this is often full, there is a council pay and display carpark just across the road. A shop well worth popping into regularly to spot a bargin or two.

In short, if you need some specific cheap and nasty item and you can't find it anywhere else, it'll probably be somewhere in A. B. Superstores (although you may have to dig for it; we found the plastic insects at the back of a box under a shelf). So despite being something of an eyesore both inside and out, it's really very useful, and quite good for a laugh even if you don't have a desperate need for some fruit-scented candles (these are perhaps what is meant by the promise of FANCY GOODS on the sign outside) or a plastic horse.

I mainly come here for the energy drinks (4 for 99p). I would say that if you're looking for bargains, 99p store has a few, although so do all of the other nearby stores and so too does Sainsbury with the basics range of products.

It's not even the pound shop - its 1 whole penny cheaper every time! I came to the 99p store, which is hidden away in the cheap corner of Kingston at 10.30am on a week day. Every other shop in Kingston was just getting going, but this place was packed. Credit crunch central. I generally view heavily discounted shops as a bit of a false economy - yes you might buy a lot of stuff, but is any of it actually useful? So I came in here with the aim to find goods which I would actually need, and I was pleasantly surprised. As well as the omni present tat, there was quite a large amount of food on sale - not fresh, like Aldi or Lidl, but perishable goods. Did you know that Lloyd Grossman sauces came in jumbo size? The industrial looking container made it look a bit.... unappetising, but I presume that this sauce is no different then the one that I would find in Waitrose for 4 times the price. I also found a few food items that could almost be considered in the deli bracket, like balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Its not all eastern European cereals here. I also found a wide range of toiletries, household goods, pet food and toys, kids toys, electrics and even a little bit of underwear. Unfortunately the women's pants only came in sizes above 22, but at least that gave me 5 minutes of fun playing with them. Books, stationery, artists supplies and kitchenware basics are other good reasons to shop here. They are still good value though, and this one seems to have quite a lot of bits for the kitchen in it. Stock doesn't seem to change very often (unlike Poundland) so I find it's not really worth going in unless I need something. This time of year they're always full of cheap Christmas decorations.

We're talking toiletries including shampoos, conditioners, moisturisers, shower gels, soaps, hand creams, cotton wool, cotton buds... We're talking household essentials - toilet and kitchen roll, tin foil, detergents and fabric softeners... I could go on all evening so I'll stop - you get the idea. A 99p store.....marvellous…read more Everything for 99p. What a wonderful thing in these times of recession. It's a complete mixed bag of many things that are truly worth no more than 99p and some things that may possibly be worth a pound or even a pound and a penny. However they sell After Eight mints in boxes small enough to fit in the 1970's metal holder that belonged to my nanny and is full of fond memories. For this unknowing act alone I recommend them to you all.
